Why haven't you all got together and formed a single PC Corp with no tax? Then you can still chat in Corp chat!

I think it's time I step in here and clarify something so that Soundwave can continue the discussion on a constructive level:

The fact that I dislike the existence of people who sell in game assets for RL currency, coupled with the fact that they can receive wardec immunity and thus immunity from the community in NPC corporations, does in no way infer that I think everyone in NPC corporations is a macroing ISK farmer that's making money of our hard work.

It just means that I dislike RMT to the point where I would (and have) suggest stupid designs to try and fight it. I understand that not everyone shares my sentiment but that does not make me classify you as an RMTer: For that you need to sell in-game assets in exchange for real-life assets. There is no point in taking my attempt to lighten the mood to heart unless you engage in the aforementioned activities. (Edit: That does not mean that I think you're an RMTer if you did take it to heart either).

If you want to discuss this further, whether it is RMT or the syntax of the English language and how I abused it to be misconstrued like that, I will be at Fan Fest. This topic is for discussing the new NPC corporation tax and possibly hint at ideas on the future of NPC corporations or something pertaining to that. My personal dislike of people making money of our work has no effect on that.

Your statement was just plain silly.

CCP sells in game assets for real money. (PLEX)

I doubt, I REALLY doubt, that some players in the larger "more important" corps that have purchsed ISK have been banned for it.

Stop PLEX. BAN both BUYERS AND SELLERS.

Then we can talk about the truth of whether or not CCP doesn't like RMT sales.

Very few are angry about the tax. People are angry that CCP is using it to try to force them in a direction they may not want to go.

You've never felt "elitist", you say - as you tell people to man up and play the game the way YOU think it should be played. I've spent most of my EVE career in a player corp and will continue to do so. However, people shouldn't be forcing others to play the game in a manner in which they don't want to.

How would you feel if, all of a sudden, CCP started changing player corp taxes to a higher amount to "motivate" people to play in NPC corps? It's not about the tax - it's about the fact that people pay for the game and are then told how to play it.

For those who say this is a mechanic to make player corps more appealing - let the player corps do it themselves. Want people to join? Create your own incentives. Offer free T1 ammo. The corp a friend and I are trying to create will be offering T2 ammo for free after you've been there a certain amount of time.

Offer free ship replacement lost to corp causes. Offer ships at-cost for any other loss.

Don't be lazy and ask CCP to do your work for you. Let people in NPC corps be. Let people who PVP be. Let people who LOVE player corps be. There's no wrong style of playing. If you don't like it, don't participate in that play style.

^YES THIS

Why doesn't CCP help make PC more appealing like making it possible for corps to better control assets/isk w/o having to risk an entire hangar or wallet, or one of the most needed changes to corps the consentual attack option so that corporation members aren't subjected to being possible targets to eachother. How about remove or make optional the member location of all corporation members, so members can't look up where someone is without that player enabling it.

None of it will change that some people don't want to be in a PC because they play when they feel like it and don't want to deal with crap/politics etc and about them not doing 'corp' stuff when they are on, whether because the time they have to play is limited or maybe because they want to do what they want and not go off to 'work' for the corp. NPC members pay for the game same as PC members why should CCP 'pick' on them for the way they choose to play?

For those saying join a 'casual' PC all the issues I listed above are still valid in any PC, the alternative is a one man corp yes 1.6million isk sink for CCP, where I can be war dec'd because someone doesn't like what I'm doing or whatever, great leave pc, new corp 1.6million sink to CCP, plus basically cut me off from any social interaction, yeah thanks for that.

I recognize the benefit of not becoming a war target but don't think players should 'pay' for it anymore than they do now with a 'worthless' npc that has only 1 benefit of a pc the corp chat, that's it.

I'm sure there are a lot of players who really like a lot that you can buy game time with game money and there certainly are few who like buying gtc:s with real life money.

I'm one of those people and to me Eve is worth that 280 million isk per month per account but Eve is not even near enough to be worth 15€ per month per account or the 200€~ish what it would cost in a year. I'd never pay something like that for an average mmo what Eve is to me. But the plex is doable. I like eve but the reason I'm still playing is the ability to buy game time with game money.

I think the whole plex system is absolutely magnificent system and I'd really like it to be used in other mmos. And in the end I think the plex -system has nothing to do with rmt in eve. Rmt exists in all mmos and eve is the only one where you can pay subs with your in-game money without breaking the rules. Even if isk=plex and thus real money=isk you need to remember that it is only one way equation. You can only buy isk with money but not the other way around.

I'd guess the big problem with rmt is not buying isk for real money but the selling of isk with real money. When people sell isk for real money it affects many parts of the game, mainly market. Buying isk with real money is not such a big problem because not many would do that but if you could sell your isk for real monmey then who wouldn't do that? Everyone else except the plex sellers Smile

Haven't read all the pages of this thread, but as a player who has only returned to eve after a year's absence - basically to help out a RL friend who just got into eve - the 11% corp tax actually makes me want to join a corp again - for the simple reason that I'd rather have the iskies go to a corp that could make use of it, versus it just dissapearing into the spiral zone.

Haven't really hunted for a corp again as I know i'll probably stop playing when my friend gets up to speed. Then again who knows ;-)

PS: I miss the eve-uni unistas and blobbing :):):) Go eve-uni!!

Still would like to have this number Cool

Btw, I've not paid any tax since it was invented, though I have created quite a few corp. I've been grinding all my alts up to harvest datacores, and each of them are in their own corp. None of them, nor any of my high-sec mains, have been wardec'ed.
