Just some feedback on getting this running on Windows 7.

I installed 2005 sql server express and the subsequent service packs without any problem.

My first installs all had the instant 'windows has encountered a problem' error after it updated itself. At this point I realised I'd ended up with the 1.3.0 installer so quickly found the 1.3.1 version.

I installed the 1.3.1 version and instead of letting it update when I first started it, I let it start properly. This got me into the main screen (so no instant crash) but then it all fell over complaining it didn't have access to the registry even though I am an administrator on the machine. At this point I changed the Emma shortcut and told it to 'run as an administrator' and this problem went away. I'm not sure if this is needed everytime Emma is started or just to get the registry changed upon first startup.

I then updated it, but at the moment it keeps grabbing the same update but apparently never copying it over, or perhaps it fails download it even though it reports a successful upgrade. It seems that it is downloading a file but the zip file is corrupted.

I also cannot add accounts as Emma fails when trying to connect to the API. This one I'm just looking into as well. Maybe this is fixed by the update that never quite makes it? Here's the exception report anyway

Hope that helps with some of the Windows 7 work. I'll post any updates if I work out any more of it.

Update on the updating. The file it's downloading is valid and if I manually download it and unzip it using gzip and copying it over the existing EveMarketMonitor.exe file then the auto updater is happy that the file is updated.

Edit: The API problem was all about my proxy not working with the API server. Turned off the proxy in IE and it works fine.

I know some people have problem with using eve-files to update.

Try removing eve-files from the list of update sites (Settings->other settings->select eve-files and hit delete key). Next time there is an update available hopefully it will work.

I just downloaded this two days and spent the past two days fighting to get it working. A frustrating experience, but I understand of the limitations of one-man pro-bono development :)

Downloaded an update this morning, 1.3.1.1 - and all seems to be running ok far as I can tell. It finally starts up at least!

Looks like a really cool app. Thanks to all who spend their time on it.

Once you have it working ok I recommend backing up the whole program directory (you can toss the logs) periodically, and especially before letting it update itself. This will really save your bacon in a pinch!

yeah! i finally got EMMA working under W7 x64.

- i installed SQL2005 express x64 with SP3
- installed latests emma installer
- then i got an error. I had to have clr enabled. You can enable this with the SQL config tool

works!

John has already sent me an email to say that he's fixed the above issue but just so that everyone else knows, check the readme file that comes with the installer and follow the instructions there, that will resolve this error 9 times out of 10. (MS suck, why they still haven't managed to fix this I cannot fathom)

Is there a clean way to just dump the database I have and start over? It seems I have some seriously corrupt data. Today Emma told me I had 16,000 and change unacknowledged orders. Since I only use 3 characters to trade and the highest order limit between the three is 129, I find that highly unlikely. I've been getting resurrected orders from the unacknowledged orders screen for months and have come to just acknowledge all and ignore it but never that many.

So I fire up the auto-contractor. It processes for a second and then returns absolutely nothing. That's not really possible as I have goods in quite a few stations that need to move and it had at least 20 contracts last I opened it. I'd been having some odd results in the expected profits on contracts for the last week already. I'd see quite a few that said I would lose money on them. I didn't think I was setting that bad of buy orders so I took a look at a few of them. The estimated sale prices were way off what I was actually selling for. In some cases it was the value of the highest buy order but I didn't investigate enough to determine if that was a solid pattern or just coincidence. I chalked it up to pulling some strange data off of eve-central.

While the historical data is interesting, I really just need an auto-contractor that works. I checked the exception.log file and no new entries. I tried deleting the group and re-creating it under a different name but that didn't solve anything. Is there a simple way to start fresh with a clean EMMA database or am I better off wiping it out and re-installing. I assume that means the SQL engine too? I suspect just removing Emma will leave the database in tact.

You are correct, if you uninstall EMMA, in will leave the database behind. However, it's then just a case of deleting the database files (<EMMA folder>\Data\*.*).

You should then be able to install again and start fresh. There is no need to reinstall SQL express though.

Excellent. Thank you. I thought briefly of getting out my excel version of an auto-contractor and shuddered at the thought of having to manually enter the asset information and update prices again.

Capital Ambitions

Well that didn't work. I uninstalled EMMA, wiped out the data directory and reinstalled. After getting set back up the the auto-contractor still returns nothing on the first run. If I run it a second time it just sits there for up to an hour showing no signs of processing. I haven't attempted to let it run longer. EMMA doesn't kick back any errors and nothing is put in the exception log.

Could there have been a recent change to EMMA causing this? I use three characters to trade. They're all in the same corporation and post corp orders. They're all directors, not sure if that matters. All the items I need to ship are in delivery hangers. If I run auto-contractor on the corp, it hangs as I've been describing. If I run it on an individual character it works. But that's not where my goods are. I suppose as a workaround I could deliver the goods that need shipped to a character and setup the order but that could get to be time consuming and messy. I just recently got finished contracting the last few odds and ends from personal hangars over to the corp. I'd hate to go the other way now.

Let me know if there is any data I can provide to troubleshoot this issue. I also understand if this isn't a priority.

For sure.

I'm having trouble getting my copy running reliably on Windows 7 but I've still got XP at work so should be able to do it there.

This one *might* require an update to SQL Express 2008 rather than 2005... I'm not sure yet.

As before, if you don't want to wait for me to get around to updating it, you can do it yourself. All you'll need is a copy of the free-from-MS SQL Management Studio Express and these instructions.

Edit: Oh BTW, the new datadump is available here.

Edit 2: Oh dear, just read this. What this means is that the reprocessing part is almost certainly not going to work if you just follow the instructions above. I'll have to read through the rest of the posts and do some investigating to figure out how to get around it.

Not going to happen any time soon I'm afraid.

Also, EMMA has been free to use for about the last 6 months or so. Wink

Possible bug:

I canceled a market order which freed up money on my account, however that is not in the Journal entry in EMMA.

I checked the XML file, and there I see the entry:

<row date="2009-12-03 21:17:00" refID="1973253878" refTypeID="42" ownerName1="Secure Commerce Commission" ownerID1="1000132" ownerName2="" ownerID2="0" argName1="" argID1="0" amount="3162712.50" balance="45435030.07" reason="" />

So, for some reasons EMMA did not picked this row up. But it processed the pervious and the next rows without any problem.

That's pretty weird...

Unfortunately, I'm too busy at work at the moment (and too obsessed with L4D2 while I'm at home) to take a look. I'll add it to the bug list on google code though.

Correction:
The entry is in the SQL database. I can see it in SQL management.
However it's not showing in EMMA in the Journal entry or when it's calculated in the
Income Statement report.
And I think I found out why:

It's a bug in the API
It says: ownerName2="" ownerID2="0"
However that shouldn't be zero that should be the ID who have done the release from the market.

In my case I changed the RecieverID in the SQL from 0 to my ID, and woila, the entry apeared in my journal.

So basically all order where the SenderID='1000132' and TypeID='42' are corrupt.

Edit:
For a workaround I would suggest to do an extra processing when importing the data, so if the SenderID='1000132' and TypeID='42' then the ReciverID should be filled with the CharID of the person, who is connected with the import.

I have posted the issue here

There is an issue with contracts which are accepted for Corp.

They appear twice in the income statement, As it is registered for personal, and for corporation entry as well.
So if it's an expense, then it will show the double amount, which is ridiculous when you buy something for 1b ISK. Laughing

I believe it is effecting the corp market orders, but I need to test that out.

So far:
If TypeID=79 then the SWalletID needs to be changed from 1000 to 0

Then in the income statement it will only appear as a corp expense, not as personal.

And Ambo, I will do the preparation on the SQL db for Dominion, as I have done it last time. When that's done, then you can do the changes on the program to fix the new table orders.

Ps: I hope the Zombies did not eat up your brain. Cool

Hehe, thanks Hamster.

Tbh though, I don't think I'm going to get around to making the required changes. Certianly not soon, I just don't have the interest in it anymore.
As ever, if someone else wants to pick up the project and modify the program to work with the new data format, windows 7, etc then feel free.

I made the DB changes for dominion.
I even fixed the GetReprocesResult stored procedure. It look's ok in SQL manager.
However I'm not a programer, so I have no idea, how to fix the other stuff in the code.

So at the moment, it look's ok, exept the reprocessor. :)
