Just a little update on activity:

Currently, I've got a few small changes/fixes that I hope to get out this weekend. I've also started working on the next major update. This will improve the asset tracking system and also allow it to support manufacturers much better.

However, don't hold you breath for any big changes, baby is due in a month so I don't have a lot of free time atm and am likely to have a lot less in the near future!

Anyways, thanks all for the continued support, just wanted to let you know that EMMA is not dead, just a little quiet. Smile

I used EMMA a long while ago and am recently planning on starting up again.

One question I was wondering that I hope someone could answer.

I know I can pull NAV reports whenever I want from EMMA, but is it possible for EMMA to keep track of my daily NAV and show a chart of NAV growth over time?

EMMA does not currently have chart/graph capability so no.

However, you can generate a NAV report over time, import that into excel (or similar) and make a graph there.

Hey guys,
I just came back to EVE and used to use this tool a lot. I just wanted to check and make sure that itís still up to date and functioning ok.

I'm still keeping EMMA up to date with the latest datadumps, etc. Doing that takes up very little time so will not be a problem.

However, in terms of new developments, things have slowed down a lot as you can see from the posts above. Smile

Hey folks, hoping someone out there can help with an issue I'm having with Reports > Item Report. For some reason gross margin is being calculated incorrectly and I have no idea why or how to fix it. Here's a screenshot of the issue.

It's telling me I've made 900m selling 6 Hulks. Any items highlighted in yellow have this problem of not calculating buy cost. Items highlighted in black don't have this issue.

Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

This problem occurs when EMMA can't work out how much you paid for an item.
In particular, this is a problem if you've just recently installed EMMA and/or you are a manufacturer.

E.g. You first install EMMA and run it, it finds 2 hulks in your assets list but no recent transactions that involve buying hulks so EMMA does not know what you paid for them.
You then buy 1 hulk off the market for 150 mil. EMMA will now show a stack of 3 hulks with a purchase price of 150 mil. (Since it had no price for the old hulks it simply assumes the same price as your more recent purchase).
Next, you manufacture 3 hulks. These will appear in EMMA's asset changes list. You can select how you came to have these extra hulks. (could be found, bought via contract, was never missing or cancelled contract, default being found)
If you leave it on 'found' then EMMA treats these as mission loot/mined minerals/etc and assigns them a purchase value of 0 (cos stuff you mine yourself is free! Very Happy). In the case of our example, the hulks are added to our existing stack of 3 to make a stack of 6 with a unit purchase price of 75 mil. When you then sell these, the 'cost of units sold' will show as 75 mil and your profits will be all messed up.

Version 1.5.3.8 is up.

This simply removes the eve-metrics option for getting item value data. EMMA will automatically use eve-central instead.
I was also going to update to .NET 4.0 with this release but decided it's probably not worth the hastle. The project is now living in VS 2010 but is targeting .NET 3.5

Thanks for the reply, Ambo, this makes sense. Is there a way I can fix these price lists manually or do I just have to wait until I've purchased more stock for it to sort itself out?

If you type %appdata% into the run prompt, does the directory that opens contain a folder called 'EMMA'?
If it does then does that contain any further folders and/or files?

Perhaps we can work out how far it's got and what's gone wrong by figuring out what it has managed to do.

You can't do it from within EMMA.

However, you can use SQL management studio express to manually edit the data.

First, make a copy of the database files, somewhere like C:\Data (To do this, just copy 'emma Database.mdf' and 'emma database_log.ldf' from %appdata%\emma\data to your backup location)

When you start up maangement studio, it will ask for server name and authentication details. For server name, enter '.\SQLEXPRESS'. For authentication details, just leave it set to windows authentication.

Once you're in, right click 'databases' on the left hand side and choose 'attach'. Click the 'add' button, browse to the backup you made and select it.
Change 'Attach As' to something useful like 'EMMA Data'.

Open the database in the object explorer and then open 'tables'. There are two that you might want to change:

1) Transactions. Changing the 'SellerUnitProfit' will fix your reports. This is the isk profit per unit sold.
To help you find which rows to change, run this query:
SELECT *
FROM Transactions
WHERE ItemID = 22544
(22544 is the hulk)
2) Assets. The 'Cost' column is what EMMA thinks one unit of that item cost you to buy.
Changing this means that future transactions will calculate profit correctly.

Hope this makes sense. Feel free to let me know if you want more detail on anything!

6.3.2011. 10:52:00 Critical - EveMarketMonitorApp.Common.EMMAException - EMMA is unable to connect to the database.

Seems like i need to connect it to database. I guess others had same issues before so you can just link me to already posted solution.

This indicates that EMMA has checked the SQL express service and found it running but just can't connect for some reason.

Most likely cause is an incorrect connection string.

In your emma install directory, there will be a file called evemarketmonitorapp.exe.config.
In there, there will be a section that looks something like this:

<connectionStrings>
<add name="EveMarketMonitorApp.Properties.Settings.EMMA_DatabaseConnectionString"
connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename="|DataDirectory|\Data\EMMA Database.mdf";Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
<add name="EveMarketMonitorApp.Properties.Settings.ebs_DATADUMPConnectionString"
connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\Data\EveData.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>

Could you post yours?
Also, open services (just type services into the win 7 search thingy on the start menu). Find the SQL Server service. There will be a name in brackets after it, could you tell us what that name is.

Under Services (Local) i found 5 of them with SQl name, one was SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) if thats what you asked for.
Edit - just to add SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) under Status says started and SQL Server Agent (SQLEXPRESS) seems its not started.

Ah, now that one is a problem I've seen before several times. All sorts of possible causes but if you google 'Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance' then you'll get all sorts of things to try.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly what the problem is because this error is rather vague but hopefully this will help you figure it out.

If you don't find, then I can give you instructions, how to attach directly the databases to the SQL server, and access it naively. Working fine, just the database updates (not program updates) needs to be done manually (basically a file replacement)

had sort of the same problem after a reinstall

Delete C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Data\SQLEXPRESS.

this helped for me.

So for the longest time, pretty much since evecentral went toast I've been having issues with EMMA. It would go do to the update, and get to near the end of the first one, hang, then tell me the application update had timed out. So for the longest time I just didn't bother with the update.

Well fast forward a couple of months and figured I should finally get off my arse and fix this problem. Then blamo, started getting the database error. I tried the delete thing and I think it worked. But since I had some other issues I figured i'd just download the new version and start with that.

Well it installs fine, but again when it goes to do the upgrade it hangs near the end of the first one and then times out. The only problem now is that I can't get it to run at all.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
