We all saw this when we logged in and the message is clear do business with ISK selling websites and you put yourself at risk of being scammed.

This advert also goes further and suggests that players who might use ISK selling services should trade PLEX because its reliable and safe, yet how can it be "safe" when scams involving PLEX are ongoing and allowed and you can be scammed out of an item that costs real money and CCP make this clear with the following warning:-

"'Warning: 'CCP has not made any special exceptions for the PLEX items. They are treated as regular in-game items with regards to market orders and contracts. Scams are easily avoidable by careful scrutiny of market orders and contracts and we urge anyone to be alert when dealing in PLEXes."

(taken from this page)

I am not suggesting there is anything wrong with PLEX scams or that the policy should be reviewed or changed

My point is merely that the wording could be interpreted as misleading as it advertises PLEX trading as "safe" when there is clearly an elemant of risk involved with PLEX trading and the wording should be changed to something that suits the EVE enviroment like:-

"Trade in PLEX - Reliable and Safer"

The easiest way to not get scammed is to not buy ISK for cash (PLEX or RMT).

getting scammed via plex is a one time lesson you can recover from.

losing your account and possibly your id is a one time lesson you may possible not be able to recover from.

Plex trading is hardly safe with all the contract/trade window Plex scams going on in game.

"Any forms of scams with GTCs are not allowed and will be harshly dealt with" apparently doesn't carry over once you convert a GTC to Plex. So yeah, reliable and safe is a bit misleading. Then again the people dumb enough to fall for contract & trade window scams won't make it far in Eve anyway, so they may as well give people like me their game time.

Yes you can take some relatively straight forward measures to protect yourself but the statement clearly says that PLEX trading is "safe" when there is a clearly documented risk involved in certain forms of PLEX trading.

Something can not be "safe" when there are risks it can only be "safer".

Sure as a hell lot safer than buying ISK off some website.

Having a gun with you to protect yourself is safe. But there are rare occurrences where you can hurt yourself or others accidently.

Trade GTC which is completely safe. Forget trading PLEX until you're confident you can do it without being scammed.

PLEX are safe, just like all other things on the market and contracts are safe. I don't ever recall hearing a player say they got hacked because they bought/sold something via market/contracts, including scams. Scams are safe. You don't get hacked and wiped clean by someone when they scam you.

I concur. But Joe is kind of beating a dead horse continuing it. Unless he thinks he can really do that(sue).

Should have seen after admiral noir accidentlied his mothership in that caldari station. Someone made account with his name, and came to forum complaining for reimbursement because he lost his mothership due to lag. Was hilarious all the people flaming him.
