Allow skills to be "liquidated" and training time "credited" to another skill. If you have trained a useless skill then you should be able to "trade in" that training time for another skill that you want/need.

We all have made mistakes by training something that in hindsight is not so usefull for you gameplay style or needs.

Sweet god no. While I can understand wasting time to train a useless skill there are more then enough guides and programs out there that will tell you exactly what you need to train for something and even what order to train them in.

I can see this being abused in a lot of ways as well or even allowing people to quickly jump professions. Once you get x number of skill points having any more may become less and less important.

I believe CCP said somewhere they were looking at this. I could be wrong.

I think its a good idea if done carefully. Like only being able to get 50% credit back on exchange. I know i'll never fly hulk or a freighter. I trained them when i needed them and i don't need them anymore.

Explain how it becomes useless. It's highly doubtful this idea would be implemented with infinite "re-specs" much less at short time-frames to go from one skill to the other. More SP = More skills. You wouldn't have to retrain into a whole new field.

Decent idea. Would need more informative details to be a well-played one though. Without proper thought or details it could end horribly more then greatly.

Main reason for respeccing in MMO's is due to the fact that if you choose path A, path B and C are closed to you. This does not happen in EVE.

Second, a useless skill today may very well be a skill you can't live without tomorrow.

Third, decisions have consequences in EVE. A lot of people like that. Living with one or more poor training choices adds a bit of life to your character.

Fourth, it's a whole can of worms as to how you credit a perc/wil skill to a mem/int skill. Especially since they added the attribute respec.

For this simple reason a skill respec is unnecessary in EVE. The potential for misuse (frequent back and forth skill switching) far outweighs the limited merits of such an addition.
