Hi
im bored and i would like a spend a silly amount on a mission running battleship
Ideally t help my corp mission, purely as a support/tank/damaging beast (pick 1)
i have 5 billion to spend and will be going off eft for stat, the only drawback is i cant use t2 large weapons
so get the faction mods on, i currently use a maelstrom with republic fleet gyros and 1400's but it cant tank - so i need something planning
any ship - but ideally damage+ tank using faction stuff
I will go fit one out after downtime!
I know its not logical spending this amount , but i will probabally sell it off or strip it down after a day or so.....i just want to see what im capable of with the right equipment!

No idea how you can't tank in a Mael. With your budget invest in some Gist Large Booster and you should have one hell of a tank... |

720 DPS, tanks 1687 for 4m39s and 1013 forever. Switch hardeners depending on mission: most likely tank will rise (this is just a uniform damage estimation).
The booster fetches about 2.5 - 3b last I looked, DG/CN invuls 400m ish per, RF Gyros maybe 50-80 or so which puts the cost of this fit at around 4b. If you want more, get better % hardeners and T2 rigs. Or crystal implants if you don't have them. |

With 5 billion ISK you could just buy a Caldari mission runner character which will give you more profit in the long run. Alternatively, train Caldari BS, and you could use the missile skills anyway for the Typhoon. |

its only recently i found a officer in 0.0 and made a bit of isk
now ive moved back to empire as 0.0 is finished for me! (i did a runner with the items!)

You'd be better off investing a chunk of that 5 billion into an HG cyrstal set. It will be a lot more useful, and a lot better value for your money.
Also I'm not sure you understand the volume on those items is quite low, if you're just playing around you should do it on the test server. Otherwise you stand to lose a lot of isk for essentially no reason. |

Most of this has already been said, but it's worth repeating.
1. The Mael is one of the best tanks for a BS ... you're doing something wrong.
2. Train towards T2 guns.
3. 5b on a mission boat will get you ganked in many of the popular mission hubs.
4. I also advise spending towards a Crystal set. |

Just adding a fourth opinion that you're better off going for the Crystals. Grab a 5%RoF and 5%Large Projectile Turret Damage implant while you're at it.
Then get Republic Fleet Gyros and Caldari Navy Invulns. Your problem should be solved. If you want to blow the isk left over, then get one of the stupidly powerful shield boosters. |

You'd actually be better off investing that 5 billion. You may not have realized this but there is an actual market economy with shares, investments, and the like here in Eve.. and a diversified 5 Billion isk would easily help you maintain a PVP lifestyle.

This is what I run, it wouldn't fit without the fleet gyros and projectile rigging 3. I've found 1200s to be a lot better than 1400s. If I am range tanking, I don't like perma running a tank, my booster reps ~1300 a cycle, and I just can't stand not having an AB. I run with 5 medium and 10 small drones.

Seconding that you could probably buy a golem character and buy a golem with the remaining isk and fit it nicely, giving you a much better mission runner than anything a minnie can do.
Oh, and thirding/fourthing the HG crystal set.
No idea how much this costs or if these modules even exist, or if you'll be able to find all of them, but I imagine it would be around 5b. The HG crystals would be another 2b(?).

Well I would disagree with the Crystal implants, you are unlikely to get podded in empire doing missions so whack in some Plus 5's instead for better training, if you haven't done so already.
Use EFT and find out which bits of kit yield the best results. If it was me then faction Gyrostabilisers, hardeners and shield booster would be my first port of call. You can always use the modules on the marauder when you can fly it anyway so technically it's an investment. |

the most important mod for an uber mission ship is the shield booster. a xl gist a or x type will be your best investment as it allows you to perma-run your tank and load up your low slots with damage mods. next faction guns. energy and tank skills needed to survive. spaceship command, gunnery/missiles to pwn. |

You could try a shield tanked AC/Torp/Heavies phoon. It would be really tricky and would def make use of a Crystal set and a deadspace booster. |

Normally I'd say don't bother, but here I'd suggest getting a Gist X-Type XL booster for your Maelstrom. That'll leave 2 billion ISK to fit out your Maelstrom for gank, and if you're lucky it might perform as well as a Raven when you're done. Oh, and my post is 100% unbiased, and has nothing to do with the fact I have 3 Gist X-type XL boosters on the market atm. They're almost a billion ISK cheaper than they were a couple months back though, haha, so it's honestly not that horrible a time to buy one. |

I think this is best shy of officers. Although if you have Gallente BS 4 I would suggest a Mach for the tracking.

5 billion on a active shield tanked BS is just making it a gank magnet.
If its about tanking, rather invest some isk in HG crystals, an alt that can fly vulture and bring blue pills. (After that you can still buy faction mods ofc). |

If skilling up was an option he could just train for a vargur (which btw with tech II mods would OD that setup out to 45km). Hell I plugged that setup into eft and even with perfecet skills it only cranks out 631DPS with the guns, a feat easily doable in just about any BS without the billion isk pricetag. Oh and the reason behind fitting deadspace tanks is that you can tank with 2-3 slots instead of using all of them, freeing up mids for other things. More than 6-800 race specific DPS tanked is a waste, and you'd be better off spending the money on better guns/damage mods. |
