uhmmm... no, Sovereignty is not in any way going to be tied to planets.

Look, we KNOW how the sov system in Dominion is going to work, and it's being released long before planetary interaction will be. PI will be a completely separate thing.

Dust players will be fighting for control of assets on planetary surfaces which can be claimed by EVE players as part of a completely separate game mechanic to sovereignty.

dust will feed into souvereignity, thats what the devs said

Yes, we all know that, but that's not how either Dust or post-Dominion sov is described by the people developing it. New information trumps old, in this case, and I personally asked CCP Hammerhead about this — he said no.

Dust feeds into PI, as mentioned, and PI is far more likely to feed into space improvement than actual sov.

That dustbunnies will determine EVE sov.

ok this raises a new question.

1. Source or Link? (or it never happened :=p; i myself have already provided a source to back my arguments up)

2. Your statement would mean that they have revamped the effects that dust would have towards eve. This might be very possible, since its all in development still, and everything in development is usually subject to changes. But again, is there a source for that?

Well, mainly the Dominion presentation(s) at fanfest. What they're aiming for is a very simply, and therefore very robust system of sov which centres around two things: outposts (which have to be conquered before you can do anything else) and TCUs (which isn't the official name, but I will keep using it as such just because they said we shouldn't). And that's it.

All the extra frills come through the infrastructure improvement system, which is a completely separate mechanic to sov.

All Info-Gathering about Planets/Dust/Incarna aside, i have a request, and rather than starting a new thread, im using this one for my request, since this thread already caught good attention :x

Please support my request if you agree with me, by just typing /signed in your reply, so that we can enjoy all the new shiny background stars and planet graphics in Dominion, without having to look at ugly nebulas. Sooooo, here goes:

WeŽll get the new planets in Dominion
WeŽll get the new awesome background stars in Dominion

But one thing bothers me: As more and more stuff gets a graphical treatment, its becoming more and more obvious that the background nebulas are ugly as hell and are only disturbing the new shiny graphics.

So, my request is, that we do not have to wait until after dominion to get a treatment to the background nebulas.

How can CCP do this? By simply increasing the transparency of the existing nebulas, so that they do not dominate the skies anymore.

Or by reducing the opacity of the nebulas, whatever you may call it.

Please support this thread, so that the skies in Eve become more BLACK again, and so that we can enjoy the new shiny background stars and planets without having to get angry because of the ugly nebulas

I really don't know how space would look when the backgrounds have a higher transparency so not sure if it's a good idea, should be put on sisi so we can see it (though I doubt the devs need our help deciding if something looks good or not)

Off topic (if this topic has a real topic), it's annoying you keep changing the content of the first post. Just saying.

when i made the thread, i should have reserved some slots for further updates, but now the original Post simply lacks the space to cram everything i wanted to cram in. the thread originally was about a livestream for the announcents on the gdc, where, among other things, dust was announced for the first time. then it was about collecting info on all the upcoming dust/planet/incarna stuff.

And it still is a thread about upcoming updates concerning planets/incarna/dust

As the time went by, after creating the thread, i just updated the thread with new info various people were able to gather.

i also think this is a good thread for outsiders who can see what awesomeness ccp is gonna bring to us in the future, in one compiled thread.

And whom would it serve if they locked that thread? The thread is constructive, informative, no bashing or flaming occured after 34 pages. iSo rather than spamming the forums by new threads all the time, ill stick to this one. IF CCp however decides its time to bring the thread to an end, then so be it. I just cant see any reasonable reason why they would have to.

And i also wont stop collecting any further info we might get in the future, and then cram it into this thread, if people appreciate the gathering of infos. If not, then so be it, as well.

the poster below you understood what i meant :=)

it doesnt matter how we get the request to the DEVs, to have a more BLACK space in Dominion, that lets us enjoy the new shiny graphics more. All that matters is that they gain attention of it, and i chose to do it through this thread. :=p

This needs to be locked down because it has been expanded too much already and you now want to bring voting for your idea into this mess and the idea doesn't really have anything to do with the original topic. FFS even the current topic has nothing to do with most of the posts anymore.

Also, your new topic belongs in the assembly hall, which can be found here Arrow

New IGN Interview with Hilmar
Some Keynotes, which some of you probably havent known yet:

IGN: What kinds of vehicles will be available? Can any player drive vehicles, and what kinds of customization options are available to players who want to tweak a vehicle's functionality?

Hilmar Petursson: Our aim is to launch with eight vehicle classes per race. These range from small hover bikes to heavy tanks. Each race's vehicles share a similar style and statistical differentiation with the ships of EVE Online. Any soldier can order in a vehicle for combat, provided that they've accumulated sufficient war points during the match. The commander chooses which types are available to the team in the pre-match deployment phase.

IGN: Is there a character progression system at all, like do you train skills over time similar to how it's done in EVE? If not, how does it work?

Hilmar Petursson: Like in EVE Online, there are not strict character classes so you are free to specialize your character in any way you see fit. Of course, like in EVE Online, focusing your progression has its benefits.

IGN: How does the gameplay work? Is it typical first-person shooter controls? What kinds of weapons do you use and how do you go about acquiring them?

Hilmar Petursson: At its core, DUST 514 is a first person shooter with run and gun gameplay. But there is a heavy emphasis on vehicular combat that layers tactical and strategic dimensions within each battle. In addition, weapons and modules are upgradable in real time, which we believe pushes DUST 514 beyond what has been seen in the market so far.

IGN: Will DUST 514 players have to wait around for EVE players to issue directives, or can they just jump into conflicts whenever they want?

Hilmar Petursson: DUST 514 players can drive their own agendas. In addition, there is also an NPC-based political landscape, similar to EVE Online, that keeps things lively. There's always going to be targets to shoot at.

IGN: How do the results of DUST 514 matches affect the world of EVE, and how visible will these effects be to DUST players?

Hilmar Petursson: The fundamental change is in the control of planets, which can end up belonging to EVE corporations or DUST 514 corporations. Changes in occupation and sovereignty will be very visible to each DUST mercenary.

IGN: Will this be a subscription-based game? If not, could you talk about what kind of pricing model might be used and some of the reasons why?

Hilmar Petursson: A subscription will not be required to play DUST 514. In order to achieve our dual goals of making a game that has meaningful character progression and one that you can jump into quickly, we are adding a virtual goods-based micro-transaction model while being very careful about not allowing anyone to "buy a win".

What happened to the petition on nebulas? Or the other 9001 topics you've made this thread about?

It's lame.
