is the ship useful in pvp at all? in what situations would having one be better then any other ewar frigate out there?

i believe sensor dampening has it backwards. Damps should have long range and ECM should have close. as it would make so much more sense that way. /rant

Forget range scripts on the keres and go for scan res damping. Use a keres in conjunction with a ceptor/af gang with preferably a kitsune along. EAF's are hopeless for big fleets so forget them for that role, instead they offer exceelent support to fast moving roaming gangs that aim to gank 1 or 2 targets at a time.

IMO, all it is, is a fast point. MWD, disruptor II, scram II, 2x sensor booster II with scan res scripts... It helps to cover the new, larger regional gates but really, in 0.0 you have bubbles, and in lowsec you have gate guns. So it's only really good for piracy off belts/stations, empire wars or fac war. Then look at its competition for the role, Arazu, HICs, Inties...not a very appealing option.

probably would be great support for capital ship fights with scan res scripts. Put one on each enemy carrier and switch primaries once they get a lock.

The damp bonus helps against ships with extremely short locking range when using the range damp script, and helps against big targets with the scan res damp script. You should really have one damp on a Keres IMO. MWD, disruptor, dampener, sensor booster, and fifth module of your choice.

A strong aspect of this ship is that it can scram a target mining or shooting belt rats almost immediately after landing on a belt, thanks to the bonused disruptor range. Other ships would generally have to close 10-20km to get the point on them. Keres is a solid ship for small, maneuverable gangs. It's equal or better than a Ceptor in some areas such as tackle range, having two EWar potency bonuses, and having more EHP (though balanced by the fact that it's also weaker in others such as a speed limit of under three km/s and almost no effective DPS at its bonused disruption range.)

I have one, it collects dust... because of another ship called the Stiletto.

However, I've been meaning to res damp fit it to hell for small frig gangs to slow down locking of gangmates.

In fights between lone BC/cruiser and a ceptor gang, one Taranis generally gets scrambled, webbed, and it goes down to the wire to see if the target will pop before the friendly Taranis does.

Making a BC take thirty seconds or so to lock a frigate could really help minimize losses, but only if you can get those damps on the target fast enough. Rigs for fast lock, sebo, damps, and the right place at the right time.

[Keres, tackler2]
Small Armor Repairer II
Damage Control II
Overdrive Injector System II

1MN MicroWarpdrive I
Remote Sensor Dampener II, Targeting Range Dampening
Remote Sensor Dampener II, Targeting Range Dampening
Small Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 150
Warp Disruptor II

Light Electron Blaster II, Null S
Light Electron Blaster II, Null S

Anti-Explosive Pump I
Polycarbon Engine Housing I

good for tackling solo targets I guess. All stable without running the armor repairer. Rigs are optional, all they really do are make your explosive resistance a little higher to protect against warriors. The damps will get the target under your disruptor range.

Its both a tackler and an Ewar ship. Its my favorite ship. What else do you need?
