This blog is dedicated to all you Factional Warfare junkies who have been dying (pun intended, perhaps?) for some changes to the system. CCP Ytterbium outlines the first of many changes coming to FW in his newest blog.

I second the notion of figuring out how alliances or corporations in alliances can participate in Faction Warfare. It certainly will bring more warm bodies into the FW system.

Those faction mods, drones, cap charges and stuff. Will they be tradable, or usable only by players in faction militias?

Thanks to your new militia subscription card, signing on Factional Warfare will now grant the same advantage by giving enlisted pilots price reductions on all navy ships offers.

You mean offers only from FW npc corps (example Tribal Liberation Force) or also from all other faction corps in where you have loyalty points (example brutor tribe, sebestior, etc. plus Tribal Lib. Force.)?

There are no limitations on such equipment. Everything will be tradable and usable by all pilots like other faction modules.

Everything listed in the blog will only be available for FW militias, which are only limited to the four following corporations:

* 24th Imperial Crusade
* State Protectorate
* Federal Defence Union
* Tribal Liberation Force

All other corporations will have the same offer requirements as they have now on Tranquility.

AWESOMENESS INCARNATED!!!

Best devblog since a long while, and we had some pretty good recently!

Excellent writing, especially introduction part was hilarious funny!

<3 Y

Great changes, pretty flawless and all looks great. This will give FW a huge boost, well done!

Only thing is that titan and mothership has far to few points. Titan has only 28 times more points than battleship and mothership 14 times more. That is not enough by far. It should be 280 times and 140 times at least.

But otherwise: *applaud*

The new level of reward seems just about perfect, as someone who heavily critisized FW in its original form, this is a big improvement!

Like the idea, but it needs some work. This is a massive stealth RR BS buff if i have ever seen one.

Cheaper faction BS = Everyone and their mom is going to be flying around in Megathron Navy Issues which already have an awesome tank.
Faction plates = the ability to fit more resists to said RR BS. Every FW pilot will be able to get their hands on 3 of them super cheap.
Smaller Cap booster charges = More time you can spend repping your target. Why don't we just nerf NOS and Neut even more and get it over with.
Faction Implants = Lets make ECM completely worthless against RR BS gangs guys!

Default tactic for FW pilots after this patch: 10 RR BS fully faction fitted with T2 rigs(since they will be cheap as well). Sit at gate for hours, and if something comes that can take the gang, lol carrier hotdrop.

With reduced damage output next to their Tech II counterparts, I don't see any real attraction to the faction drones and sentries, even with the increased EHP. The hitpoint buffer isn't an issue with drones most of the time anyway, you may wish to consider that despite a large hitpoint increase over standard drones and the same damage output, pretty much nobody uses or manufactures the 'integrated' and 'augmented' drones either, so why anyone would pay more for less damage I'm not sure.

Would you consider switching the stat modifications over, so that the faction drones inflicted more damage then T2 but had fewer hitpoints?

T2 rigs will be cheap? That'd be cool. I haven't seen anything on t2 being cheaper than they already are, considering Medium and Small rigs won't fit on a BS and AFAIK nothing is changing with current rigs.

But your scenerio would just beg for the rival militia to hotdrop their own carrier/dreads onto the field. Also, with the higher points for Faction BS's, a swarm of 15 t1 cruisers on a suicide mission could in theory walk away with more LP than the other side just by taking out a few enemy BS's.

So much new faction stuff. Faction drones, cap charges, armor plates, and more! Yay, can't wait to see them on contracts!

I like how they're giving us drones more suited to gate piracy than FW.

HH2 w/ double HP and drone durability IV can tank sentries plenty long enough to get back in the drone bay. Even the current HH2 can usually make it as long as you're watching 'em close.

So the Republic Fleet Large Shield Extender is exactly the same as the Thukker Large Shield Extender in every way, other than the signature radius. 20m on the Thukker variant, while 19m on the RF variant. Therefore, the RF variant is superior to the Thukker variant.

That said, the Thukker variant costs 27k LP and 18mil ISK, compared to 10k LP, 4mil ISK and a few tags for the RF variant. That's a huge price hike for an inferior item, and the same can be said when comparing Fed Navy Armor Plates to the Syndicate ones.

Then, to go onto the MAPC, both the Thukker and the Navy MAPCs give the same bonuses, but the Thukker variant uses 4 less CPU. That said, the Thukker variant costs an extra 14,700 LP and an extra 8.3mil ISK.

Seems a bit off to me ...

When LP stores were introduced, CCP Greyscale once let the statement slip, that the pirate faction stores didn't get any modules because you at CCP wanted to limit the amount of sources each item could come from, so Commander loot didn't get devaluated.
That was of course bogus, as highsec empire stores got relabeled carbon-copies of these items (except the Republic Fleet Stasis Webifier which is still missing).
But let's just roll with this here and pretend.

Now the Tribal Liberation Force will offer Thukker, errr, Republic Fleet Large Shield Extenders for roughly a third of the Thukker LP store price, even cheaper than Thukker Small Shield Extenders. And they even get the better bonus (-25% sig compared to -20%)! Seriously? SERIOUSLY?

And Imperial Navy Armor Plates sure do look a lot like Syndicate Armor Plate knockoffs.

Any specific reason you set the demolition charges to these two small faction stores? Or is that just collateral damage?

And while I'm ranting, who came up with the idea of putting +6.66% effect and +1tf CPU on a Target Painter into the same "item weight class" as +10% range/-10% CPU on an Energy Transfer?

13. Faction micro auxiliary power controls (available for all FW militias):

Attributes: +12 powergrid for 19 CPU

Offer requirements: x1 for micro auxiliary power core I, 1,500 LP, 1.5m ISK, 2x faction opposing 500,000 ISK insignias

Very interesting considering what the meta IV goes for with similar stats.

Seeing as the rest of the Thukker items got copied over cheaper and better, those 19tf CPU are probably a typo. They meant 14.

Will FW rank be attainable through kills as well?

Unless it is, you will have a situation where the "PVE" pilots give better rewards for kills than the often more dangerous "PVP" pilots who don't have much FW rank due to little or no plexing done...

The LP rewards for PvP kills in Faction Warfare is pretty exciting, as well might be those rewards for plexing (whenever they are announced). However, there is one very pressing issue I hope you take into account when implementing the changes: awarding LP in whole or part to those in FW who have already achieved high rank under the current system.

At least a portion of what, for example, a Rank 8 character would have achieved in LP rewards should be given to all such individuals upon patch deployment. The Faction offices keep a list of kills (although not very accurately) and these ought be considered when parceling out initial LP rewards.

The argument is this: Once the patch deploys, all of us who have a high rank in militia will be giant targets, yet we will have received none of the LP rewards others will now enjoy for climbing those promotion ladders. We get all the drawbacks inherent from our past success, but no rewards?

Please take this under consideration.

So, any plans for giving LP for plexing? The way I see it now, nothing is done to encourage plexing because you just paint a big bullseye on yourself when you do?

Edit: Also support what Meridius said. All factions have people fully deserving the recognition. Also, nothing seems to stop using militia alts to get easy LP.

So if I understand it right you get more LP for killing someone of a high rank as opposed to a low rank? You do realise this will act as yet another disincentive for people to plex don't you? I hope the LP rewards that are announced for plexing are so superior to the PVP rewards that people won't be turned off of one of the core mechanics entirly.

Kill 'em all

Until now, dispatching an enemy player ship enlisted into Factional Warfare granted no tangible benefit. This will change in the near future as a proper LP reward will now be provided to the gang implied in the kill. The exact total value is calculated from the destroyed ship type hull, tech level and its pilot rank under the following formula:

[Total given LP value]: [Ship hull LP]x[Ship tech level LP]x[Pilot FW rank]

The LP value will be evenly divided for each gang member in grid range of the kill, no matter which ship they may be flying. Also, LPs will only be given for killing your militia direct opponents, not allies to them (as a Federation pilot, you will not receive LPs for destroying an Amarr pilot ship for example). Some explanations of each variable are given below:

[Ship hull LP table]:

Titan: 14000
Sooo people now have a reason togo out and blow up any titans that happens to show up

I thought it was the other way around; Higher ranked people would get more lp for their kills.

Getting more lp for killing higher ranked pilots pretty much sucks.
