Main EOH Thread: http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=681663

It's been quite some time since we've had a large tournament -- a year in fact since we held our Billion ISK Buy-In Eve Series of Poker tournament. To celebrate 1.5 years of EOH under my ownership, we're looking to host yet another large buy-in tournament for those players out there looking for the big ISK. And this time, much like the alliance tournament, there are some new rules. And also like the alliance tournament, ESOP III is a challenge to the corps and alliances of EVE to prove themselves against one another on the poker table.

★★★ EOH Quick Access ★★★

Main Channel: EOH Poker
Game Announce Channel: EOH Games
User Site: http://user.eohpoker.com/

★★★ More Tournament Info ★★★

Tournament Buy-In: 2.1 Billion ISK
Early Registration Buy-In: 2.05 Billion ISK
Tournament Size: Up to 50 players
ISK Destination: Selene D'Celeste
Tournament Start Time: 01:00 EVE Time, Saturday, July 25th
Early Registration Ends: 01:00 EVE Time, Wednesday, July 22nd

★★★ Tournament Format ★★★

The format for this tournament is a multi-table no-limit Texas Hold'Em tournament. Payout varies depending on how many register, with the table viewable at http://www.eohpoker.com/info.htm. A minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 50 players will be accepted. This means the prize pool will be in the range of 20 to 100 Billion ISK. Special rules for this tournament are in place to both create a venue for alliances and corps to compete against one another, and to work against potential collaboration issues on such a high stakes match. All characters participating in this tournament much be at least 6 months old. Additionally, only two characters per alliance and one character per corporation may enter. Corporations may not be NPC corporations without prior approval for myself (basically, players who have been in player corps previously but are currently in NPC corporations would be considered). Entry is first come, first serve.

Game time is set at 01:00 EVE time on Saturday the 25th. Please note that this is US Friday evening.

Full refunds are available upon request until 24 hours before Start Time. 2.0 B is refunded upon request from then until 1 hour before start time. No refunds will be made after this point. Players not in channel and on the designated table at start time forfeit their spot and their buy-in. The minimum number of players in this tournament will be 10. If for some reason we cannot get at least 10 players for ESOP III, we will refund everyone in full and cancel.

In order to buy in to ESOP III, wire ISK to Selene D'Celeste with reason 'ESOP III' OR send an Evemail to Selene D'Celeste with your EOH Account Name in order to use ring chips for the buy in.

Following is some more basic info about the EOH client and how the table will be set up. All players should be in channel EOH POKER one hour before start time in order for us to get organized and start within 15 minutes of the start time.

Satellite tournaments will be held in order to fill more seats. A winner of a satellite tournament must play in the final tournament (they may not ask to withdraw). If they do not end up playing in the final tournament, half of their buy-in (1.0 B) will be added to the pot, and only 1.0 B will be returned. This is to discourage satellite tournament winners from ditching the big game, and to sweeten the pot if they do.

I wasn't planning on one, however this has already been mentioned a few times since this post went up. If others are interested in such a deal, please post, as we do have time to set such a thing up.

Correct. An alliance or corp could sponsor one of its members, or the member can just pay for themselves. The rules simply prevent the tournament from being stacked with nub alts or members of a single corp or alliance. We're indifferent to whether you're playing with alliance ISK for the alliance, or with your own ISK for yourself -- both are valid.

Okay, so in order to jump start this thing, I've asked the senior banking staff to run 10-man 210m and 20-man 105m satellite tournaments all week long, starting Saturday (today/tomorrow). So visit EOH POKER and ask around. Hoping to see the first within the day =)

Actually, I think it's because people don't want to tie up so much isk since we're still a couple weeks from the start of the tourney. I think more players will start joining as we get closer to the tourney date, especially if the satellites start running.

Also, Selene, if you win a satellite but can't make it to the tourney for some reason, will you be able to get a refund in the same manner as if you paid for the tourney yourself?

The only issue with allowing this is that potentially none of the satellites would perform their function, which is to fill up the big table, as people could be tempted at taking the 2 B and not playing. One possibility would be to refund all such players 75% (1.5 B) if they don't show for the big game, so that they still get a prize but they are losing out on value by not participating. I'm not sure how fair this would be to you all, so feedback is appreciated.

I also assume that many will wait until the tournament gets closer. The point of such an early announcement is to get the word out.

I think the 75% refund for satellites is fair as long as the other 25% still goes to the total pot.

For those looking for a satellite, I'll be running a 105m 20-man satellite on Wednesday, July 15th. Registration will open at 21:30 EVE time, and the tournament will start when it fills. See you there!

Well honestly if we're going to do it that way, let's go with 50% (Tournament seat or 1.0 B ISK), and the extra Bil goes into the tournament pot.

Just a reminder, there is a 20 person, 105m buy in satellitetoday, at 21:30 EVE time (5 hours or so). Registration will open at that time, and the tournament will start when full. The winner will automatically be entered into the ESOP, as per Selene, if you can't play in the tournament you will be credited 1 Billion isk, which is 50% of the entry value. I hope to see 20 of you there!
