There are problems with inventory as stands, but I can't see that it's this high a priority
The inventory service database layer changes are the culmination of multiple engineering projects at CCP, each of which spanning a couple of years. The release of the latest projects started in Quantum Rise, then followed in Apocrypha 1.2 and now Apocrypha 1.3. I'm planning to write a dev blog this weekend to provide more insight into this work we have been doing.

Looking forward to the changes. Sound Issue? Not me. Perhaps you could be a litte more specific. I think that helps the ccp work crew figgure things out and get them fixed somtimes.

Atom-Ant.:-)

Lol, ever since this expansion ppl have been very specific about it and numerous fixes were applied yet they all seem to fail horribly. Laughing

I myself gave up reporting on them since they have been reported 1000 times already and I'm guessing CCP will eventually just say it's working as intended Laughing

Ahh, this is an interesting question.

Interesting question indeed. Care to maybe answering too? That would be lovely Very Happy

Or maybe it's going to be a GIGANTIC winter expansion, with 2 expansions rolled into 1? Shocked
I'd rather see a GIGANTIC fix to the coding...

I keep surprising myself that such an old game can still hold that many bugs, even with all the added features. EVE is BY FAR the buggiest game I've ever kept playing. Usually when games are this buggy I just stop playing them within a day or 2.

"The pre-requisite skills for Capital Shield Operation have been changed. The new requirements for the training of this skill will be Shield Management V, Shield Operation V and Engineering V. "

------------

WHAAAT!!

Lulz you wimpy mother*******, i just spent 21 days completing Tactical shield thingyskill and now you make it obsolete, whats the matter with you CCP, IT IS OKAY TO MAKE SKILL / MODULES HARD TO USE, STOP MAKING EVERYTHING SO DAMN EASY, its the exact same thing when jumpfreighters was announced, i emmediatly trained freighter 5, just to realise that this particular T2 ship didnt need lvl 5, again, UR MAKING EVE TOO EASY.

Capital shield booster the best/only one of its kind/size, offcourse it needs a ton of lvl 5 skillz to be used, cammoan, why cant we have EVE as we know it, a game for people who understand and appreciate the difficulty of the game...

What seperates EVE from the other game out there? ~~ Thats right, EVE is difficult compared to WOW, EQ, and
yadda yadda games_who_cares_about_them_koz_they_are_for_kids.

Make it hard for us to use the big toys of the game, besides! by now, the people who pilot the naglfars (like myself) should be able to use the booster anyway, i know i just spent 21 days traing the skill needed, so this change is mute by now, just making it easier for the upcomming pilots, and for what purpose? isent EVE moving forward fast enough?

-----------

/Rant off

On the POS changes, kudos, mutch love for that <3

learn to do math, they didn't make it easier to get the booster, they made it make more sense. tactical shield manipulation is a shield tanker skill, so not everyone has any need for it. do some math real fast. shield management 5 takes over 12 days, and operation and engineering 5 both take over 4 days, how much is that? its over 20, which is comparable to your 21 day train. it seems easier to you because you already trained the shield skills. not every has so stop whining about good decisions on the part of CCP.

This has already been fixed and was deployed to TQ on 18 June.

Well, I don't have a driving need to make a powerful enemy in the uber EVE corp, but you know how that bug was supposed to be fixed where when you copy a url from the game to a web browser, say: Safari, it places the url in the address bar and adds "%00" to it so that you're guaranteed to not see the page?

It's not.

Just saying.

Maybe the cloak plexing bug suffers from the same ennuie.

This.

An actively patched and tweaked game is pretty cool, but only when those code changes and additions are well tested against existing, known-to-be-working features.

Is your regression testing done, QA Team?

Still no fixes to the scan filter and multiple-signature bugs? This makes the 3rd patch since these were reported as known issues by CCP, and these are borderline game-breaking bugs to one of the marquee features of Apocrypha. I hate to be a whiner, but this is starting to border on inexcusable. These are all-hands-on-deck bugs IMHO.

A fairly critical note has passed testing and will be added to this expansion. This will be a change under Markest & Contracts and reads as follows:

Freeform contracts can no longer be created. This is due to griefing problems. You will still be able to view your completed freeform contracts for now but in an upcoming expansion older freeform contracts will be removed as well.

The new note has been added to the patch note listing.

Really? What happened to a sandbox? I'll not disagree that there were problems with these contracts - since they were virtually never used for legitimate purposes - but was an improvement instead perhaps considered? A few simple UI changes to make it a little more clear what the contract was for? Perhaps a change to make these contracts private only, and a few other changes, and so make them a means of creating non-standard, enforceable agreements between individuals?

I personally never scam, however it is a legitimate part of the game which CCP seems to be removing one piece at a time. In six years I have also never been scammed myself, because it is not that hard to avoid. Simple reading comprehension in most cases. Which makes this move an undeniable case of 'dumbing down.' Is it perhaps a result of Plexs? That is, in the past, by the time you had enough money to be interesting to scammers, you had played long enough to avoid them. Now, a week old character buys a plex, falls for a scam, and whines in a petition?

Regardless of the underlying cause for the change, calling it 'Griefing' in particular is nasty precedent. Scamming is a legitimate means of making an income in Eve. I have, in the past, not been one of the people in the chorus of 'Eve is turning into WoW.' I had believed that CCP had a clear, fairly well defined idea of what sort of game this should be.

Moves like this, particularly when scamming (a legitimate game mechanic) is relabeled griefing, make me start to worry.

FIX SCAN PROBES.

Countless people have issued countless complaints in the last two months pleading for fixes to scan probes.

The previous two patches contained relatively large amounts of content and changes. It was frustrating that they did not contain scanning fixes, but at least it was understandable.

This patch contains few dramatic changes; the most important of which seems to be the new inventory system that may make some things slower.

Fixing scan probes has been one of the top priorities of players for months now. It is very disappointing and frustrating that you have not made it one of your top priorities as well.

We want to spend the summer enjoying the content from Aprocrypha that hasn't worked properly since 1.1

I'm not usually one to jump on the whine to the dev's bandwagon, but the statement that the UI fix for the probes has been pushed back really cheesed me off.

Are you kidding? I don't even know what that other thing you're talking about is, but the probe issue takes something that with my skills took me after the 1.0 patch a few minutes to find a difficult site to maybe now 15 minutes because I have such a hard time clicking on the probes.

I don't have the greatest monitor in the world either so that makes it twice as difficult. Plus whoever thought it was it would be a good idea to put 'return' next to 'scan' should be taken out and flogged.

How hard can it be for you guys to fix something that you had working at one point already? Don't put if off. FIX IT FIRST. Thank you.

I dont know if this new patch will fix this problem, or if backend issues in preparation for the patch are causing it, but I have already had items I bought from the market not show up in my inventory. The transaction showed up clearly in my wallet, but the item never appeared. To me this has potential to be a major problem.

Happened to me at Jita, but I'm sure it could happen anywhere.

Petition is already in process.

I just wanted to add a thank you, to the CCP developers for listening to us, like no other developers in the world do. We do appreciate it, even if we sound b****y sometimes. Smile

You don't even have to FIX scanning, just REVERT it back to how it was with Apoc 1.0

These bugs you've introduced and then flat out ignored aren't game breaking more that they are just plain old fucking annoying.

IF it isn't broke, don't fix it.

The training time difference between capital armor repair and capital shield repair is still extremely significant. I thought the point of this change was to level this serious problem.

Further clarification of what particular actions are considered griefing would be helpful, here. Scam away by all means, but the freeforms are such open-ended, vague and not enforcable within game mechanics things. I avoided 'em like the plague, and not just for scams, but for, say, doing what the contract asked, and then having the contractor say I didn't complete the contract satisfactorily anyways.

I'd like to see freeforms replaced with more variety of contract types. I'm still waiting for bounty contracts, personally. When I joined Eve, I thought I might play a bounty hunter (y'know, before I learned how Eve actually works). Laughing

I miss seeing details of fixed exploits, like we used to get in patchnotes of old, notably in ones like this:

http://www.eveonline.com/updates/patchnotes.asp?patchlogID=161

Note the exploit fixes section...I wish that CCP still included this section with details after the patch has been deployed Mad

It's nice to know that CCP is aware of and actively fixing stuff like this. Updates on the war with the isk sellers would be nice too, but that's a topic for another day ugh

Wormholes have to be scanned down, and when you jump into them there's a pretty good chance you'll end up somewhere more dangerous than 0.4 space (and more deserted)
