Hail fellow pilots!

My tale is a sad one, but one that I find myself telling if for no other reason than to entertain and teach the lessons learned....

You see, we have a small outpost POS in system J150341 where I am the sole member in residence. The intent of the POS was strictly for research purposes. We wanted to monitor the system and see what type of anomalies presented themselves. I setup the system, put in some base protections and other basics and then I began scouting the system.

On the third day, in the process of resetting the IDs from the day before, the scanning ship was flown into the 100km mark (as is the standard practice). Usually flying into the site and tagging it with a probe is easy and quick. On that fateful day there was a glitch in the system and five Sirius locked onto the scanning ship before it could warp away.

Normally this would not have been a problem, however the other member of the corp who was with me left in our other scanning ship...and that ship was destroyed as he made his way back to Empire for supplies.

Alas, I now find myself bereft of a probe launcher and with no way of being discovered short of luck.

So I post this saga for a few reasons. The first is to entertain the reader. The second is to hopefully teach the reader. The third is to ask for assistance if you should enter this system. A spare launcher would be a most welcome gift from a fellow pilot. Bookmarks getting out would also be of assistance.

I will, of course, reward those who help me return to empire.

I suspect you know the end of your tale, wormhole POS' aren't for soloists or that small an outfit that cannot leave a designated prober inside.

If you persist with these activities I'm sure Vanguard has a position open for you.

True, I know that podding myself is the ultimate method....but I'm not there yet (and may never get to that point).

Jack points out that I left my offer for reward a little open ended, so allow me to close that loophole and say that reward for getting me back without me being podded (by myself or someone else) will grant the reward.

However, prior to that clarification, Jack did offer a solution and request the reward, and so I have sent a reward to him that is worth of his solution. No further payouts on the "self destruct" option will be forthcoming.

Send a "stuck" petition saying you're unable to log in and hope a GM doesn't notice what system your character is in.

(You did say suggest options that didn't involve self-destructing pod - wheres my reward plz? Very Happy)

For future references you may want to contact a corporation that deal in wormholes that you know aren't hostile to help sort you out.

Posting here may only serve to notify people that do find you, who read the forums, that you have no back-up coming.

Unless this all was a far fetched set-up with you baiting!? Wink

Unfortunately, I can't send a petition without being logged in....so that option wouldn't work.

And this shows I need to be a little more specific... *lol*

A reward will be supplied at my (and my current ship's) safe and full return to high-sec Empire space. The reward will be at least 100m.

A reward will also be paid if I receive a probe launcher in system and can return to my POS without player intervention. This reward will be 100m as well.

Any other suggestions are not valid for receiving a reward.

as a matter of fact: you can.
Look at the left side,
"EVE SUPPORT" -> "My Petitions"

However beeing stuck in wh space this will lead to nowhere

Use the 'note in a bottle' technique

If you're in it for the long haul, you can try plunking down some of those advertising container thingies in likely probe ship safespots. If you drop one about 50km from each planet, some random explorer will likely see it. It's a roll of the dice on whether you get a carebear or an anti-carebear.

But given the alternative...

As for flying your scanner ship into the sites to see if they are still there:

Just klick "warp to" and abort the warp right away. If the sites has not despawned, it should pop up on the system scanner without you actually fyling there.

I haven't been in W-Space for some time, so this could have changed.

Alliance policy: All ships in wormhole space or intending to operate in wh space must be equipped with an emergency scan probe launcher. Only exceptions allowed are mining barges and if the pilot can't use scan probes and it's his personal ship. Yes this means even my haulers are scan probe equipped.

Now you know why.

How again are you going to equip the probe launcher if someone brings it to you? Unless of course you BM'd your POS and it has a ship array...

Why would he NOT BM his POS? Are you seriously thinking he would have the prober scan out his own POS every time he needed to get to it? Neutral

Well, considering he forgot to equip a launcher I decided to ask that. Cool

Just hope that someone finds you before your POS fuel runs out and you can't equip the launcher...especially if said person just brings you a launcher then leaves.

More to the point, who would be idiot enough to need a probe launcher to find a POS after not bookmarking it? How do you think scouts find out what planet a POS is at without using a scanner?

Learn your to love D-scanner.

I think I hear ArcDragon coming down the hall for a big fat "I told you so".

Grid your system with persistent containers and label them with the SOS and some other way to contact you (set up a yahoo or hotmail email account). When someone gets in there they will pick up the can on their D-scanner.

In the meantime, somebody will be logging in just to train a lot, until you run out of fuel.

Next time, if there is one, don't go putting the locus signature out like that. Now you will have people offering a bounty on any WH that leads to it, and not every explorer is as friendly as I am. I am told an offline POS is worth a lot of ISK. You might end up having to pay someone a lot more to keep them quiet.

My 1st question is why didnt you check the wormhole(s) are still where you think they are before you do something dumb enough to get you ship blowd up.

2nd why didnt you have some more probe ships even just floating inside the shield again incase you get blowed up

and third LOL your stuck in a wormhole if i stumble on to you ill help you but you wont give me a reward for it YARRRR!!

100 million ISK is more than enough to rebuy +4 implants. Which brings me to the assumption that you have +5 implants, which again brings me to the assumption that you have a lot more than 100 million isk, which brings me to yet another assumption that you would need to pay me (or anyone else) at least 300 million isk to make me even think about bothering to waste my time helping you. This of course doesn't even take in to account the small pos tower that you would be forced to abandon.

So basicly, stop wasting your and everyone else's time. Offer more money, or pod yourself because most people wouldn't be bothered scanning for hours for such a garbage reward.
