Large Intensive Refinery reads "75%" yield. Does this mean that I can refine all ores at 75% yield of what would otherwise be 'perfect' at a station regardless of what my refining skills are? To rephrase, can a pure combat pilot use the POS refinery at the same effectiveness as an industrialist who's trained refining skills?

thank you,

Arklin

It takes skills into account just as any other refining service would, it just caps the MAXIMUM you can get at 75% of perfect.

The PvP pilot will get crappy refine compared to the industrialist with enough skills to get a 75% refine.

All right, but to be clear then.

If I can refine Veldspar at 80% i will only get 75%, if I can refine Scordite at 70% i will only get 70%. Both percents are based off of what would be a 'perfect' 100% refine at a station?

That's to say it doent factor my refine skills then give me 75% of what I could refine, Instead it just caps me out at 75%?

Hope that is worded clearly.

All refining arrays are considered 50% refineries for yeild calculation. Skills are applied to this 50%, and the result is capped at 75% for the intensive varieties, and 35% for the standard one. This applies to ore and drone loot. Ice, on the other hand, does not have this cap, but is still calculated as 50%+skills, allowing 100% yield with Ice Processing I.

35% base equipment means you will need Refining V Refining Efficiency V Ore Processing V and the Hardwire - Zainou 'Beancounter' H60 (Cybernetics V) to get 100% yield. Its not a cap

As we're talking about POS refining, not refining at a station, this is false. POS's are hard capped at either 35% or 75%, unless you're refining ice. And as stated above, all POS refineries are "50% base".

So skills are applied to 50% base and capped at 35%? That doesnt make sense

The 35% capped refinery is obviously not a 50% base refine and anyone using that deserves to lose 75%.

True, doesn't make sense, neither does actually using one - but that is how they work.

I can confirm the hard cap and the fact that skills impact the situation. I discovered this the hard way using an un-skilled alt with a medium intensive refinery array one day.

One of the reasons my POS gunner alt is skilling up to the individual ore refining to 4 for ALL ores is so that in an emergency he can refine at the POS.

p.s. anyone using the basic refinery array is an absolute idiot (and or beyond desperate).

Is this really possible???? I thought that you can't do it with 35% base equipment...

This only applies to stations and outposts with crummy refining facilities. Fully skilled and with the implant, you get near perfect at those (99.35%). However it does NOT apply to refining at a POS array.

The reason we know the 35% array is a 50% base is due to ice. For ice, you will get what you get on a 50% base refinery in a 35%. Regardless of skills, for anything other than ice you will only get 35% regardless of skills.

For the 75% arrays you will get 50% base, up to a maximum of 100% for ice and 75% for ores/drone loot.

Aside from refining ice, and potentially wormhole systems, the arrays are largely useless now that we have outposts and rorquals (this is by design since you're supposed to refine at outposts to give the owners some income).
