- Would be nice to have a progress bar for database download.
- Right mouse button not working (with ctrl+click) while it works in other apps? Putting my mightymouse on my laptop the right mouse button works.
- When checking for new database with database installed it doesn't give any notification whether or not there is an update.

This should be fixed now, download the test version again and have a play with it.

I couldn't test the database progress bar as got it installed already and dunno where to delete it, but I trust your word here. Rest fixed indeed.

- The skill plan doesn't keep up to date with the currently training skill, I will probably revisit this in the future but I don't think it is worth the effort at this point.

Thats fine, its not a problem just something to put on the list 'tobefixedatsomepointintime' Wink

Not a bad idea actually, it means writing a custom control, but it shouldn't be too hard.

It saves the user a lot of browsing through the skilltree.

Nice. I'll pass this round the other Mac users in CCP. Very Happy

Not really a big issue, and I wonder if this isn't just flaw by design of the api, but:
Yesterday I plugged in several +3 implants into my char, thus reducing my skill training times significantly. Skill queue in game updated it on the fly but the skill planner (charactes sheet window)did not update it for a couple of hours. I quit the api program and restarted it to check it but still it wouldn't display the correct training time left.
Haven't checked today yet since I'm at work now.

CCP Whisper:
Cool, let me know if there's any feedback!

Blasphemour:
It should pick up the implants when you refresh the character next. Do the character attributes on the skill sheet match up with what is shown in game?

Wow, this application is terrific. I've had no difficulties installing or running MacEVEAPI on my Macbook Pro. I've been running EVEMon on bootcamp or in VirtualBox, but it would be way cooler to have a Mac app that loads as quickly as this one does inside of OS X.

Flammard, thanks for putting in the hours to develop this little gem. I've posted a link to this thread on Macs in EvE to help get the word out.

One suggestion ... find another name for the application. How about "iTrain" or "iSkillz" or "macEVEplan" or .... ok, so I'm not very good at this. Smile

It took a little longer to update, when I logged in again it was ok.

By the way, is there any wat to setup another account? or is it restricted to just the one?

Im currently using it with four accounts without problems. Just open preferences and click on the + sign.

One thing im missing is the overview feature, but it's on the list.

Cool, thanks for the blog post. Yeah I agree I need to change the name, I've just got to think of something :)

Blasphemour:
You can have as many accounts as you want. The account names must be unique however, if you have an account with the default name "New Account" then it will silently fail, I should fix that up :)

I've just released a new version which will show progress of the currently training skill in the skill plan, and it adds ship planning.

For the next release I'm going to try and polish up the interface a bit. I've got some ideas for new controls to make the skill planner a bit easier to use (as Rottenator suggested a couple of posts above). I'm also going to start work on the character overview page.

Whoops. I broke it.

I'm going to be redoing that in the next few days anyway. I'm going to use that large blank area below where I have the training queue now to make a much nicer training queue. hopefully replicating what the training queue looks like in game.

OK, this is some pretty good stuff. Just downloaded version 13 and I am having a tiny problem with the skill planner not working. I'm not sure if there is anything special I need to do, but I can't seem to add anything to the planner or even add a new plan.

When I click on the plus sign and add a plan name, when I click OK it doesn't do anything. Also when I right click skills to add them to the plan, it gives me options of what level I want it trained to, but when i click that it does nothing.

I really like where this is going and I have to echo the sentiment of fellow Mac users and say that this app needs a ship fitter. I'm going to play around with it a bit more and see if there are any other bugs I can ferret out and also suggestions. Thanks for this Flammard.

Sorry, that was a bug I accidently introduced. I've released a new version that will fix that.

It should update automatic. You can select Look for updates in the menu.
If it's not working, then you can download the file from the first post on this topic.

After you have updated, you should have version 13.1

Flammard: Maybe you could name the download file with a name that contains the version number eg. MacEveApi-13-1.dmg

Very nice! I'll try and report bugs/suggest features whenever I notice/think of any.

Here's one for you now, it won't update automatically to 13.1.

Oops, the deployment scripts didn't pick up the point release. I've fixed the update xml, it should autoupgrade from 13 to 13.1 now.

Version number in the DMG file name is probably a good idea, I'll do that for the next release.

OK, I updated to version 13.1 and the skill planner is working now but there is a slight problem. If I add a skill to the plan that I have trained to a certain percent, the plan doesn't tell me how much training time is left on that skill, it only displays how much total training time that level is going to take, as though it has not calculated that, say, 40 percent of the skill is completed.

Also, just as a general knowledge question, what are those three buttons in the skill planner directly below the search field and directly above the skill list? When I click on them, they light up blue but nothing happens. More buttons are always nice and I'd love to figure out what they do.

Whoops, I broke that as well. I'll fix that soon.

Those three buttons don't do anything. I was going to use them to implement some sorting / grouping of the skills in the skill plan, but I haven't done that yet.

I have an idea for the three buttons. Why not make them into templates, where you could make a plan and then use those buttons to easily select between different potential plans. I know that you plan on integrating a ship fitter into the program, so having different tabs where you can view your character sheet with the skills from a plan that you've made displayed would integrate nicely.

EFT has a function where you can modify your skill sheet to see what could be done after some training, so it might be cool to have an innovative way to do this that could be applied to both the ship fitting and the skill planner. It might be nifty to be able to make more tabs though, and possibly some stacking mechanisms.

Not sure if this suggestion is all that good because you probably already have ideas on how to view ships with different skillsplans, but at the moment doing it in EFT is a bit cumbersome and it would be nice to directly link a plan you have to the ship you're fitting.

Also, I do realize that the ship fitter may not be here for a while, but just throwing out ideas!

I'm just going to remove those buttons for now. Ship fitting will be a separate screen, but will probably have some sort of tie in to the skill planner.

I'm in the process of tidying up the skill planner frontend. Does anyone want a countdown timer for the skill currently in training? Personally I've never seen it as important as I usually don't sit there watching the timer (Which is why I haven't done it). Knowing that it will be finished in the next X hours is sufficient for me, at least.

I usually only use time till skill finishes on short skills ( 5 days >) But on those longer skills like 25 days and above, I usually use time to finish. Don't know if it was that you emant, but if it ain't too much work, simply add them both and make it an option to 1 show date only 2 show time left only 3 show them both.

Hi.

After I enter the account name, account ID and API key I click "Update", but nothing appears in the "Characters" section below. The progress bar appears for a moment right next to the update button when I click it. Is this normal? I tried allowing it in the firewall as well. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

New release is out, this contains mostly UI enhancements, which is what I will be focusing on for the next few releases.

Hi, could you grab the latest version (Alpha 14) and try again? I've added some more error handling.

Hi,
Saw post on Macs in EVE. Downloaded 14.1 and it installed, np on my MacBook Pro. General comment: AWESOME! Woooot!

Suggestions:
1. Skill planner, sort skills by time to complete by clicking on the column header, respect dependencies.
2. Allow right-click of planned skill to increase planned level.
3. Double-clicking column divider in skill planner should resize column to fit largest contents.
4. Consider incrementing planned level of skill if dragged into plan multiple times.
5. Nice to have (do later) export plan to text (or other) file. **Edit: Print to PDF is ok for now.
6. Dragging multiple-selected skills around in the skill planner is prevented - dragging one-by-one works.
7. Ability to add custom notes for each planned skill would be great. (I can't always remember why I wanted to train a skill, this will help).
8. I would like to also use the tool as an Eve item and ship database reference. Initially just 'get info' on the ship/item as currently with the skill would be fine.
9. Installation should ask if Eve db should be downloaded and what it will do, most will say yes. If I didn't read this forum, I wouldn't have known to tell the app to download the db to add the 'ships' feature.

I will repost with more as I find more.

Hey Flammard, why don't you surprise us and finish this app, progressing past the failed/slow attempts of others. Then you may even be as bold as to call the app "EveTools for Mac". How awesome wouldn't that be? Can't wait to see if it materializes.

ZFP
