Ok, I love the look of three of the four carriers, and would love to get one, however, i dont really have a use for one, so i was wondering what other people used theres for, so i can convince myself its worth the ISK

Carriers have a few main uses:

1) Carrying ships - if you want to move rigged/insured ships from your low-sec logistics base out to 0.0, you can load up the ships and move them. (up to 1,000,000 m3 - i.e it will fit 2 BS or a lot of frigates).

2) Remote repairs - a group of carriers repairing each other and the fleet can be very useful - whoever is taking damage asks for repairs and the carriers remote rep them. Carriers get a bonus to remote repair capability.

3) Fighter/Drone support - a carrier can launch drones and fighters to support the fleet.

4) You can also use the carrier to hot swap - say you're in a BS firing away at a POS with a bunch of mates, you might have a Falcon in the carrier - if the enemy shows up, you swap into your Falcon without going to a station and start jamming the enemy. Meanwhile your BS mates dispatch the target and go back to shooting the POS. After the enemy is dead, you jump back in your BS and shoot the POS again. That's a bit of a simplistic example, but it shows the theory. (Edit: clearly the carrier pilot is NOT the one hot-swapping here - the carrier is supporting OTHERS to hot swap).

5) Ammo hauling - you can load an industrial with ammo, load it into the carrier and move it. Only works with ammo though, you can't load your industrial with modules, ships, etc.

A carrier is very much a fleet ship though - an unsupported carrier is a dead carrier. (just like aircraft carriers in the real world really).

I've a question too about carrier.

Is the Triage Module of any use or is it too much of a "Shoot me i won't get RR for 10 minutes" ?

Its the only way i'd like to play my future carrier but ... when I read stories of dead dread in siege mode i guess the story is nearly the same for carrier in triage :(.

A carrier should only enter in triage mode when it is going to either a. Die, or b. His friendly Dread or Carrier is going to die.

You lose all offensive capability, and your repping modules go into overdrive. It makes you a nigh-impregnable tank, but only for as long as it lasts; better start shouting in vent for backup!Cool

Watch the Triage movies (find them on My EVE channel or Google it) - it's good for a lot of things and has plenty of uses, don't worry.

Mine is collecting dust inside some random station, iv forgot were is. Have had it for 2 or 3 yeasrs, and used it 2-3 times, to move some stuff out from 0.0 I dont think they are usefull for smale scale pvp stuff, its too easy to kill if people know what they are doing.

Mine is collecting dust somewhere, don't have a use for it atm. The way I have seen carriers being used:

1) fighters - kill stuff with them
2) protection - a small gang is trying to kill your ship X? drop a carrier on them (prerequisite: balls)
3) logistics - move around your rigged ships, bonus if you're -10 too
4) overgrown guardian - repair your gang mates
5) small scale 0.0 trading - you have enough space to bring in a few cans and ships of goodies to resell at some 0.0 station at a profit

Yeah but your an empire war dec corp.. Carriers can only go into .4 and lower systems.

I use my carrier as much as possible.Must used ships in the last year

I also use it to move minerals, ships, ammo, and expansive items. Carriers collect dust when people are afraid to use them.

i use mine for an overpriced hauler or an underpriced jump freighter, mostly for moving fitted/rigged battleships around low-sec

I use my carrier to field-strip stolen supercapitals of their officer modules, and re-fit them with nanos and stuff for faster alignment, and a cheap cloak to facilitate stealing the hull itself.

You must have Agony confused with someone else, we are a 0.0 pvp corp. In fact we only operate in empire when running classes or if somoene war decs us...

More than anything Carriers are gigantic logistics platforms. Rep ships, pos's, stations, pos modules, each other. Or move stuff from one place to another. Triage is very dangerous to use, unless cleaning up at a pos, or after an outpost fight.
