I've scanned the thread first before I asked this but I have not seen how to upgrade from a previous version. Do you uninstall via package admin panel then install new version or just over wright the files via FTP?

Yup, the proper way is to uninstall and install is via the Packages page in Administration.

API is down.. again! This allowed yet another API down error to show it's ugly head, and I shot it with extreme prejudice.

With that, ESAM v.1.30a is born that resolves Issue 130.

Uninstalled old version, installed new one. Install went fine, package is listed as installed, but the forwarding to the setup page failed. Where do I find the settings? In older versions, there was a admin menu entry called "Eve-Online Setttings" or something like that, this isn't there for me anymore. Looked thru the menus, no clue where the ESAM menu went. Help!?

/edit: Figured the Link to the settings page should be http://www.smfboard.url/index.php?action=EsamSettings - this just leads me to the main page of my forum (to the portal frontpage, I run TinyPortal on SMF).

Uninstalled 1.3.0b3 and installed 1.3.0a. Uninstall went fine as did the install of the new package.

All rules were removed with the uninstall and when I now try and create a rule "Is a member of xxx add to membergroup yyy" the submit button leads to a white page. I'm guessing this is related to the API being disabled.

Many of you have been bugging me for SMF 2.0 support, which I have not done through a combination of SMF 2.0 is still a Release Candidate, laziness, real life, and the fact that I haven't podded you yet.

But for those who really want SMF 2.0 support, an alliance mate has begun work on a module. Check it out here: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1253847

//edit

Mod works now

//edit 2

I registered a new user with my API but if I validate with the admin account nothing happens. The user is not renamed to the ingame name neither it has his ingame avatar or title :(

And I get this error when I click on Manage Rules
Quote:
Database Error
Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes
File: /srv/www/vhosts/congregatio-eve.de/httpdocs/smf/Sources/EsamQuery.php
Line: 159

//edit again

Works now after I increased the max_allowed_packet in the my.cnf

If you have same issues goto your my.cnf file which I found in /etc/my.cnf
open it and search for max_allowed_packet and change the value from 1M to 10M

Was wondering if I can get some more specific help with the cronjob part of things. I use a cpanel hoster. They have the option to add a cronjob and you can insert your command.

So do I just put "wget http://myalliance.com/forums/Sources/EsamValidator.php?cronjob=true"

I get this
connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 500 Internal Server Error
10:21:02 ERROR 500: Internal Server Error.

Remember to address any issues here, otherwise I won't see them for days!

ESAM v1.3.1 has been released! This is a very minor release and includes the following changes:
- Russian language file added (some language parts missing but 99% complete)
- Bug fix for rules with skills. Now not everyone will have Cyno V Shocked

Since my Russian is non-existant, feedback on the Russian language pack would be awesome. Thank you everyone!

I have a strange error that doesnt seem to be covered. If I add a global rule for any corp within an alliance it works fine but when I add a seperate rule for a corp that has an apostrophe in the name e.g. MyCorp's Name I get the following error....

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'Invalid or missing list of names.' in /home/myforumurl/public_html/MyForum/Sources/EsamApi.php:132 Stack trace: #0 /home/myforumurl/public_html/MyForum/Sources/EsamApi.php(221): EsamApi->getXML('/eve/CharacterI...') #1 /home/myforumurl/public_html/MyForum/Sources/EsamSettings.php(214): EsamApi->getCharacterOrCorporationInfo('********\'s ...') #2 /home/myforumurl/public_html/MyForum/Sources/EsamSettings.php(70): EsamRulesMenu() #3 /home/myforumurl/public_html/MyForum/index.php(147): EsamSettings() #4 {main} thrown in /home/myforumurl/public_html/MyForum/Sources/EsamApi.php on line 132

I have tried it on other corps and if any have the "'" in there name the above error is thrown out, can anyone help?

Thanks

I tried this and I get :

Could not open input file: EsamValidator.php?cronjob=true

If I try without the "?cronjob=true" I get nothing returned.

yes u cant do cronjob=true in command line
that why in the link above i posted some fixed releases
that remove the use of that
u can just run the file and it should run validate
the fix will also be in the next release so dont worrie about it being broke in future updates

I have tried to run every permutation of the validate command via cron in cpanel and i either get permission denied or file not found. Not sure if the validator needs permissions to run in which case, a cron job just wont cut it.

Anyone actually got the validate to work via a cron job in cpanel?

ESAM v1.3.2 has been released!

New Features:
- Proxy: you can now proxy your API requests through a 3rd party. (beta feature)
- Better documentation for the cronjob page http://code.google.com/p/esam/wiki/ESAM_CronjobSetup

Bug fixes:
- Corps with apostrophes in the name could not be found when searching for them.
- Servers without PHP CURL installed could not pull the API correctly.
- cronjob from the command line was not executing properly.

Upcoming features:
- Multi-Key API (register more than one API per forum account)
- Teamspeak 3 integration (woohoo can't wait for this one!)

(can't forget to thank Temar for his contrubitions! Very Happy )

Not sure if anyone is experiencing this problem but since the last update, if i go to edit a member so only one character shows or change anything in there profile, I get this error...

Fatal error: Call to a member function size() on a non-object in /home/*****/public_html/******/Sources/EsamMembers.php on line 125

Anyone experienced this?

Klave, you *really* fail at reading man.. take Issues to the issues page, as I've said a couple times already.

That particular issue that you mentioned has been fixed, if you visited the Issues page you would know this!

May I suggest you get down from that high horse of yours to start with. I asked a question in the hope someone could answer it. The issue you refer to is entitled "Error when entering api" which was not the error I was experiencing. I will just go trawl through all the issues shall I to see if any remotely match my problem or should I post here in the hope someone can help......hmmm let me think.

I appreciate the work you have put in to this mod but may I suggest you read my error which had nothing to do with entering an API, hence my post in this thread.

Ok before i trawl through old issues, has anyone experienced this error. When a validation run is done, if the user has removed there API key, it does not remove roles / permissions. Is there a way to tell Esam to remove existing roles if the API is blank?

Thanks
