I've just installed this as well. I like it. Looking forward to the next version.

I'm trying to install ESAM to a fresh SMF 1.1.10 install and I am getting

"The package you tried to upload either is not a valid package or has become corrupted."

I am not using SMF 2.0. I have double and triple checked folder permissions. I have tried installing both your 1.2.3 beta 1 and your 1.2.2 release and no go on either.

Thanks for any guidance in getting this mod running (it looks very useful).

One of my alliance mates was having this problem updating our board. It turns out it's his browser not properly decoding the download. Try a different browser perhaps? The file name should end in .tgz, and I'm going to guess your's is ending in .gz?

edit: I can't spell....

I had the same issue.

Can you install other packages ? In my case, I had problems with other packages as well, and it was a SMF rights issue (really check that you have rights properly set on all SMF files and folders, check here )

Then I had to decompress the file and recompress it to make it work.

Hope this helps.

Forums not validating properly when API is down!

Apocrypha 1.5 is being released today, and with the extended downtime the API servers got shut off as well. I did not foresee this. As such, ESAM has decided that every one of you has an invalid account and you aren't allowed to view the boards you should have permissions for... ah hell eh?

The API is out of my control, but the least I can do is at least instruct ESAM to act a slight bit more intelligent. Bugs can happen, but something that removes users from the one avenue of entertainment they seek when Eve isn't up and running is just unacceptable for me! (Yes! I'm affected too!)

My apologies to you all, and hopefully next time CCP improves our favorite game ESAM will be much nicer.

Well at least now I know what's going wrong with the ESAM application ;)

I switched back to manual group entry, but obviously I hope we'll find another solution in the future for when the server is not responding. Keep up the good work, it's not always easy to think about all the problems which could potentially occur.

And thank for keeping us posted here !

The CEO has "roleDirector" listed in the API. Therefore, the CEO is considered and treated as a director.

Just to give everyone an update, right now I am working on:

- Multiple API's for one login.
- Using the database for caching, and not the file system.
- Ensuring ESAM doesn't nuke stored API's the next time the API servers go down.
- Making sure I don't screw anything up :)

+1, Same problem again as in last patch, all people removed from groups, this is very annoying.

I would gladly help, unfortunately I'm not a coder. The API is great but if this issue is not solved soon, I'll have to stop using it :'(

Even after the API came up again this time, the validation of the most user doesn't work. Only a hand full of user are validated. For the rest it seems there are no valid api information.
Please help!!!

Update:
Forget about this post. I forget ESAM also deletes the "unvalid" keys. API info is obtained correctly as soon as you reenter a key.

Well, the beta build I put out was *supposed* to fix the problem. Yet, it still occurred. I'm currently looking into rewriting the way the API is pulled as the code being used there is very, very old. The changes will work their way into numerous other classes as I perform the cleanup.

Expect a build by Friday this week, and ask CCP to kindly keep the API servers up in the meantime.

CCP was kind enough to keep the API servers up throughout the week, but they're taking them down again for testing over the weekend.

As promised:
ESAM v1.2.3 beta build 2 is out! This should handle API issues.

Cosmos, being released with Dominion, is going to offer many new things via the API. What these are will be revealed at the FanFest (PyjamaSam will be recording! \o/ ) and we probably won't know the full extent until Dominion is released in November.

As such, I'm announcing a feature freeze on ESAM until that time with some minor exceptions. RL has kept me from working on ESAM, but I do have some, but not a lot, of time available now. This time will be spent fixing existing issues and implementing the database caching.

In the next week or so I will be releasing a version that should be free of API server related issues (Issue 96) and solve the problem that many have with temporary files (Issue 94) and fixes for the other bug related issues. After that, it will be bug fixes only until we see what the new COSMOS has in store for us.

I have one site running SMF and ESAM just fine.

I keep getting the exact same thing and I have just freshly installed SMF and ESAM on the same server but different domain.

The reason you're seeing that error is because the internal error handling for the api model he used does not filter php errors.

The code does perform a check for the error receive and will report the error but it does not make the php ignore error so the script can proceed without ugly error codes ;-)

A fix is change line 242 to
$fp = @fopen($path, "w");

Does that take care of the actual error itself or just the reporting of it?

It just suppress php's need to report it, There is already a check in the code that will throw a error if the file dosn't exist so there is no need for php to yell about it too.

To actually fix the issue the file and path would have to exist/be correct, In the previous case I'm guessing the path to the cache folder is wrong or the folder was not created.

Actually the problem was, something stuffed up and locked the cache folder, as soon as we changed the caching directory it worked fine

Good to hear Squizz. ESAM was working fine for me. Today, a user registered and entered his API details. And probably around the same time something strange happened. All API Keys except the one of the new user were removed from the database. The User IDs are still stored, but the keys are gone. The new user is #25 on my forum. Any idea how this can happen?

I am pretty sure that the database wasn't compromised in any way. It was set up quite new and the login details are not shared with anyone. As the new user registration and the deletion are time-wise very close to each other (probably even at the same time), I believe the problem could probably be within the ESAM scripts.
