Incarnate, the lead designer of Vendetta online, came to www.ebportal.com to answer any questions E&B users might have about the game:

http://www.ebportal.com/forum/topic/53/17848

The game promises to have a twitch-based (meaning that YOU aim, not the dice rolls) PvP and PvE, a relatively large universe and more.

Do you think this game will win the MMORPG market because it takes a break from the common dice rolls systems found in 90% of the MMORPGs and is also set in Space? Or do you think it will miserably fail because of it's relative shallowness in the crafting department and market? It's a good question, because City Of Heroes does not have a concrete crafting system either, but what it does have is 125 thousand subscribers and what it does offer is alot of pure fun.

Whatever you think, a Beta signup will soon open, and the game itself will ship in Octoboer.

Looks like a bit of a rip-off of Eve....

"As pilots in the Vendetta universe, the progression of the player's character will be up to each individual. The starting Nation affiliation gives the player certain benefits and liabilities that fit the particular culture of that Nation, but this merely serves as a starting point for the character. If the user wishes to be a peaceful trader, military pilot, guard for hire, dastardly pirate, or whatever the player imagines, this is all up to the behaviour and play style of the user. There are both lawful and lawless places in the universe, and many different factions (including a pirate faction) with differing motives and shifting alignments. The universe is never a completely "safe" place, but lawful authorities do not take kindly to combat within their populated areas, making those places safer than most. More lawless regions may prove more dangerous, but potentially yield lucrative possibilities for those who align themselves with the darker underbelly of society. The life of a criminal is difficult, however, and pirates are not well-loved in most of the populated galaxy."

Actually, it IS a rip-off. It even has a hyphon in the website address!

They're planning to add Capitol ships in addon shortly after the release. The Capitol ships, from the looks of it, will be regarded like Titans are here- meaning it won't be as 'easy' to get one as a Battleship here, and most certanly, they won't be as common as Battleships here.

The plans for Capitol ships currently include:

-Docking ports

-Mannable turrets (You control your ship and a turret, while your buddies control the other defence turrets). Now, I din't know what happens when you don't have buddies controlling the turrets.. but I imagine that won't be a problem, because, as I heard, Caps ships are only within a reasonable reach if you work with your guild, therefore the ship won't belong to a single person but to a whole guild.

Holy crap this game is a huge ripoff of Eve Shocked

In AD 2235, the first wormhole area was discovered by the human race, near the orbital path of Saturn. Subsequent exploration led to the successful colonization of a planet on the far side. Ignorant of the phase-shifting properties of wormhole areas, the colony was stranded in AD 2310 when the area connecting the colony to Earth ceased to exist. That wormhole would not reactivate for another two million years. Utterly cut off from their home planet, humanity in Exile subsisted, thrived and eventually expanded to cover many wormhole-linked systems throughout the galaxy. However, after over two thousand years and much exploration, they have never found a way Home.

The Universe of Vendetta is composed of a great many Solar Systems, linked by "Wormhole Areas". These Systems will contain multiple Sectors. Within a given solar system, characters will travel from sector to sector using a short range (ie, millions of miles) high speed propulsion system, activated by a navigational computer. Between whole solar systems, Wormhole Areas (sectors unto themselves) will be utilized, wormhole activation providing instantaneous very-long-range transportation.

Characters will begin as part of one of these three major factions. A character's alignments with factions may shift, however, and they may also become involved with a number of other, fringe factions who serve their own interests. Each of the Nations has its own starting advantages, lending themselves to certain activies which have a significant place in the Nation's cultural background. However, these starting advantages are not absolute. The intent is to allow characters to become whatever they wish, but the road will not always be easy, and it may mean contending with the political and social forces of the universe.

How much more blatant than that can yah get? Change some words and you have the exact ideas behind Eve.

The only major difference I can find is the flight and combat models.

I think the "twitch combat" FPS type system will mean its not a direct competitor with Eve itself, although I do imagine Eve will lose some subs to Vendetta...

That game has support for linux and mac... seems to be the only obvious difference from EVE, except for the change in combat system...

Yea the first thing I thought when I read that was 'well, Eve is already like this, Eve already did that'. Seems a bit of a rip off to me, but I certainly won't start any flames in the thread their dev's started.
I say good luck to them, but I really don't see myself bothering with it.
