What is "POS farming"? It is when you maintain a POS in an unknown system, via wormholes. Then you farm the system's resources over a period of time.

Why does POS farming contradict the concept of "exploration"? The activity of "farming" implies security and safety. Even in the American old west, farming is what you did after an area was explored and the landscape dotted with towns and settlements. You have to go further back, when European countries first started to establish settlements in the New World. It was relatively easy to begin such a settlement, and incredibly difficult to maintain. POS farming in an unknown system should be just as risky as those early New World settlements.

Changes that should be made:

1) All unknown space (or really, Sleeper Space) has some phenomena that cause control towers to burn fuel at an increased rate. Anywhere from three times as fast, up to ten times as fast.

2) Sleepers Systems have various phenomena that may exist that can keep tower force fields from functioning, lock up guns and launchers, overload reactors and labs, etc.

3) Sleeper fleets may appear and attack a POS. These attacks come in waves over a period of hours. Chipping away at the defenses. Any POS without it's own fleet support will for sure meet it's demise, and even perhaps with some support.

4) Sleeper Systems should cycle through three different levels of wormhole activity. One is wormholes that connect to known space, two is wormholes that only connect to other Sleeper Systems, and three is a period of no wormholes. A Sleeper system randomly rotates among the three, with varying lengths, anywhere from 3 days to 10 days.

Maintaining a pos in an unknown system "is" difficult, logistics for getting fuel in is difficult for getting the wormholes where you need them, additionally, site spawning in the wormholes is infrequent enough that staying more than 2-3 days starts costing you more than you can make once the primary sites are cleared.

The devs already planned for this. W-space systems don't respawn fast enough. You'll see plenty of whine posts in GD that peoples' personal w-space systems don't respawn fast enough.

For continued farming, you absolutely need to seek out other wormholes, thus exploration. The POS just acts as a base.
