I haven't been routed through a telecity router in over a week, but my client still desyncs and looses connection. Like many here, I have changed nothing on my end from the time where my connection was 100% reliable. This is something CCP changed at their end, and they need to FIX IT.
I cannot do anything but change skills reliably at this point in time, and while it's nice to see my SP totals climb, I could do this for free playing ProgressQuest, TYVM.
I've submitted a bug report on this, we will see what happens, but I'm not optimistic...

Yes it doesn't solve everyones issues but I suspect is related to those who have been having problems in the last week or so.

what i dont understand is why it affects me only on TQ. tried a dozen times and nothing sofar will make me crash on SiSi. this only started about 3 weeks ago. before that i never had any problems. No new hardwear, just updating software and new eve client. how ever being laid off the 1st of april has given me time to reflect upon a new career lineWink

edit: tried this a few ways and always happens the moment i start up a second client.having run 4 at a time i saw a few crashs due to lag and stuff, but nothing like this. sent in petition with data and hope that helps.
One client at a time seems to run ok( not crashed for an hour!)

Been having this issue ever since empyrean age came out. At first, forwarding connections via ssh tunnel worked (with expected increase in lagtime) but eventually, socket errors started cropping up on the tunnel too. It didn't matter which route packets took, same errors all the time. It feels just like getting bad reception on a cellular phone, with dropped calls.

Lately, I've been getting socket errors upon logging in. I have to at least log in 3 times to appear in station. And just about *any* action results in a socket error (eg: jump cloning, jumping through a gate, even "ffs" switching ships). It's gotten to the point where my interest in EVE has severely diminished.. only productive thing I can do (dare say) is to skill flip.

Ever since goonswarm started taking over Delve, I've only been in one major fleet battle. ONLY ONE.. BECAUSE of this. It didn't matter when local spiked to 1k+ or being fleet warped to a pos, I would just get it in ass.. literally. THANKS FOR NOTHING CCP. I seriously hope you fix this problem as I've exhausted my ideas to stay connected..

(those GMs aren't helping btw)

Yes, the crappy one with huge packet losses is the one i can play eve perfectly, dont say packet loss is the cause of this

edit: unfortunatly the stable one is at the office Mad

Well, I think I can provide a little bit of intel regarding the issue.

I recently purchased a new computer. I am using the same connection that I had with my old computer.

Old computer clients never crashed.

New computer clients crash randomly, but mostly when a client is idle (afk).

I'm glad I dont crash during pvp, but I want this issue resolved. I submitted a bug report a month or so ago, I'll attempt to help by following this.

ok my tuppence worth:

I'm flitting back and forth between places so I didn't have time to sort out sisi, but I did some testing whilst I was trying (and failing) to play and then some testing overnight.

First here's an "idle" run - basically the stuff I normally have running and nothing else.

1 health warning, I'm on wireless, but before you jump and say that's the issue on the packet loss I'm about to highlight, check out all of the data - it's completely bizarre.

as you can see from the last 2 timestamps, the last bob run is right after the overnight test.

Anyway, I hope someone can make sense of that behaviour because to me that just seems bizarre.

Oh one of my annoyingly correct friends also said to check about QoS on my router interfering as his company has noticed issues with that in the past - though with the main / alt difference, I guess it shouldn't be that, but I'm just a software monkey so what do I know, so all info is good info as far as I'm concerned.

edit - I've made a more visual representation - error bars are assuming that packet loss at each node is an independant constant randam event, which is almost certainly isn't but it gives an idea at least.

Hi everyone,
I started Playing EVE in December 2008 i think. And I started with 1 acount I have always had socket close problems but they didn't make the game unplayable for me. First when I had 1 acount I sometimes had socket close/Conection to server lost a few times a day and sometimes I had no socket close for days.

I've also had a break of EVE and 1-2 months later when I came back I noticed the problem was still there but this time i only had socket close when I logged in so i had to reconect a few times to EVE and then i could play till downtime without having socket close.

This reminds me of an MMORPG I've played wich had some problems at there release where i also had to reconect to the server a few times befor I could play, they fixed it after a few months and I havn't had the problem in that game after. But to continue after a while I wanted more than 1 acount, so now I have 3 acounts wich brings me to an other part of this long post wich probaly no one is going to read because its so long.

When I stated to log in on more than 1 acount (wich have been said earlyer in somone els post i think) I started to get some more problems.
1-2 of the 2-3 acounts where i am playing on are disconecting every 1-10 min while 1-2 are staying online. wich shows its not my internet conection because if it where i would disconect on all 3 acounts and not on 1 or 2. My computer can easley run EVE more than 3 times so it isnt my computer.
So after having this problem i started to do research about this problem. First of all i went to the EVE forums wich had loads of people complaining about socket lose problems since november so luckly for me there where more people with some of this problems.

But when i read that CCP said something about that only 40 people posted on the forums about this problem I used many of the chats in EVE to talk about this problem and i found loads and loads of people with this problem and the problem they get disconected when they use more than 1 acount at the same time.

I also got sick of all the people that are saying its my internet conection or computer because many of the people i asked about the problem are having more than 1 computer and both are having socket close and there are also people with 2 computers that are problaly using the same internet conection that only have 1 computer that has socket close.
So yea i am geting really confused.

I can tell one thing there are more people with this problem than the 40 people CCP found on the forums. I am 1 of the people that waited to long with posting about this problem in my case because i am lazy and tought ah well they fix it in a few weeks. but there are people that are :

1 To lazy to post on the forums
2 Are thinking its there own conection/computer that is causing the problem (wich could be ofcourse since i am no expert)
3 Are thinking the problem is going to be fixed soon or later

And ofcourse there are many more resions why people dont post on the forums
I will pay for my 3 acounts as long there is hope they are fixing this problem and if not I am afraid i have to cancel 2 of my 3 subscribsions since playing 1 acount at a time couses disconections but they dont make it unplayable since there are days i hardly have any disconection problems.

P.S. Sorry for my bad English and the very long post but I just had to say this.

Has anyone managed to get ship reimbursements for this issue given that this is a known issue?

A member of our corp has been having this randomly - sometimes it'll happen loads in one night, others it can be fine.
He is on a business grade connection with a SLA, so better than your normal connections. I will however point him to this thread.

Wave Boradband (my cable provider) said that the db loss of that splitter caused my packet loss to increase during peak times of my use. once I got rid of it Eve never dropped again...and still hasn't. Maybe people having this issue should look at their modem/router setups.

Hi CCP,

are you aware of the fact that with this behavior you are causing a lot
of completely unnessecary trouble ?

No info since 31.03 ?

In my opinion there are three possibilities why you dont answer:

1. you just completely ignore this thread
2. you dont know the importance of a positive relation between yourself
and your customers
3. you change to Blizzards mood, we have enough gamers so we "SHXT" on
this small amount

Am I wrong ? If so please do your job with a little more respect in order
to paying customers.
If not, shame on you guys.

Ok now this kinda ****es me off. Last nite i logged into to change some skills, and low and behold it didn't take 5 mins... so i thought, whatever i'll open the market that'll screw things up, but no... so thought, number of pilots in space on the map with hang things up... surely enough, no... hrmmmm. Now at this point i was still very skeptical. So i decided to undock *gasp* for the first time in a month... it worked. I made a few jumps... everything fine. So i did some missions... an hour in, still no problems... SO SERIOUSLY WTF IS HAPPENING!? I have not changed a single thing in any way what-so-ever! Have u done something in the last few days CCP? Has anyone else experienced this? (i sincerely hope so) There has to be some kind of explanation, but i don't have one. For the sake of everyone posting in this thread i hope someone somewhere can explain this...

Yes, it can be erratic like that. Ive gone days without a crash doing the exact same tasks with simular pingplotter results (ie- high packet loss) with zero crashes. Then, without any change from the clientside it will be completely unplayable. The more I think about this the more I think its not about packet loss and more about how packets are being sent by the client to an unreceptive isp.

Is there any reason why packets would be malformed or something in certain high load circumstances, like log ins, opening markets, heavy grid loads?

Meh I dont know. Ive vocally been banging on about this for months now and am totally exhausted with it. Ive had multiple petitions run back with different answers. Ive had petitions closed without notification from the GM team. Ive filed server logs and pingplotter results. Still we collectively get bugger all feedback.

Frankly- I dont recommend Eve to anyone at all now and actively tell people to stay away from it. Bad publicity is the only thing that gets ccp's attention nowadays.[/u]

Right, so I just lost a faction-fit/rigged Taranis due to getting a socket error in high sec.
Am I going to get it back?

I DONT ****ING THINK SO

I've only been experiencing this issue for three days now. Small bikkies compared to what most people on this thread have had to ensure, but I'm already prepared to feed small kittens into a blender.

I will add that I've noticed a distinct lack of trouble when server load is low - just before and after DT it's noticably better. Not gone entirely, but better. The converse is also true: high lag makes it worse. I made the mistake of going into Jita over the weekend and I could hardly log in successfully. Checking market or undocking - forget it.

I've been playing EVE since 2005 and this is the first trouble I've had, and that includes using pretty crappy hardware on dial-up connections. It's clear that this is a client issue.

Devs, PLEASE post an update, even if it's just "we're still looking at it". Although if you do say only that I think you'll have a lynch mob on your hands.

Bug report filed: number 78968.

Less than 40 bug reports have been received with the information we have requested. Based on this and our connection graphs it is clear that this issue has affected a small number of users from different parts of the world.

LOL.... do you guys even play your own game?

The only way we have been able to do that so far is by artificially creating packet loss of 30% or higher, this would indicate an issue with the user’s connection as opposed to our software or hardware. Some of the reports we have received however hinted at other possibilities that we want to explore fully before completely closing the door on this.

LOL... again... do you even play this game?

You might want to consider whether maybe you're not getting responses because people are so frustrated with how useless filing these bug reports has been historically. I know that I personally have found the "tech support" experience with CCP to be highly annoying. As is, there's very little communication from our perspective... and lots of annoyances like discovering that your report was simply tossed because some element was missing, and that was never communicated back to us. Worst of all... the loop is never closed. Fixed or not, there's no communication back to the bug reporter... even when it's obviously needed.

I know that I personally saw your request... that I've been having trouble with crashes and socket drops, despite a top notch connection, with monitoring tools that validate such.... basically I'm the type of person that you sent your request to.... but I simply never considered responding because of how frustrating communications with you guys are. If one gets burned you dont run to touch the stove real fast.

After all... you only got 40 bug reports... it must be a non-issue that you can just write off. Surely the large number of posts in the forums regarding these problems must be figments of the imagination... there couldn't possibly be any other reason why you get so few bug reports.... surely nothing like a system that's hard to work with and frustration with previous poor experiences re: the process Rolling Eyes

No.. honestly.. are they really thinking we only are 40 guys? I imagine they will just ignore us... wait until everyone cancels his subscription.

Just look at the connections... about 40000 every day! 6 months ago it was the best score ever... now it's just common. Even if we are 500 dudes with discos problems/// they won't do anything simply because they don't need our money and they don't want to spend their time fixing this sh*t.

I just imagine CCP's team wasting our real money and working like 1 hour/ day modeling the new "walk in station" expansion...

They don't care about us... and I'm really sad because I can't play that f*cking game. I can't farm, I can't join a fleet, I can't trade... F*ck.

They surely bought some new servers 1 year ago when the isssues appeared. They don't want to buy new ones just because of a few hundreds of stupid gamers whining.

Here's the pic of CCP's dev team as I imagine them :

And yes I'm fed up with courtesy, no answer = insults.

"Thank you for your bugreport - ID:78968 Title: Socket closed error
We are already aware of this problem, and have added your bugreport to the existing issue in our defect tracking system."

It's a form email. But it's only slightly better than "We gang-****d your sister and shat in your bed. Thank you for your subsscription. Pay us next month and we'll do your mother, just for the lols."

Solution; in my case switching back to a hard line router for my gaming PC COMPLETELY ELEMINATED the problem. Since I seen the correlation of “bursting packets” and “socket errors”, and switched back to a hard line router I have not had a SINGLE disconnect.

I can’t promise this will fix other peoples problems. But if you’re on a wireless router give it a try. And given other posts in this thread I strongly believe this is the root issue.

This seems to be a viable workaround for me- no errors yet using a hardline.

No One is expecting from you that this game is gonna work one day.
No One. We dig that, CCCP.
But to be unable to normaly Log In, folks?
It's least we could get for € 14.95 a month.

Dont you think?

This software is totaly broken.
