So I head over to the Fanfest 2004 link, and from there to the IcelandAir website to check out bookings and costs associated. I went there with the thought, if the cost was within reason for a trip all the way to Iceland, I would have considered whipping out my Visa...I can be crazy like that. Cool

The first letdown was that no flights were set up for Canadians at all...and the second letdown was no flights departing from the US close to the Canadian west coast. Sad

Just wanted to say it's a shame the Canadian players were essentially left out of this exciting opportunity. And getting a connector flight to one of the nearest US cities of departure, would have added a stupidly expensive amount to the overall cost.

After a few calculations, taking into account average cost to obtain a connector flight, and several other costs associated... a Canadian traveling to Iceland to take part in this special event, would mean shelling out an estimated 2k... if not more. Shocked

What a bummer CCP wasn't based in Canada. ugh

Well, to all those who are able to attend, I wish you all the best of times. Your Canadian brothers and sisters will be there with you in spirit. Have a great trip. Very Happy

Kind regards,
MrBinary

From SeaTac Airport near Seattle, a trip to Iceland would require a flight to New York, then another directly to Iceland. My roomate was looking at a travel website, it quoted him US$700 per person for a round-trip ticket.

From the fanfest page, which can be found here

Q: I live in <insert country> and the page does not have a departure point listed for <country>. Do I have to fly to one of the departure points or is Icelandair going to offer more departure points in the future?
A: The fanfest package only applies to current destinations listed to by our partner Icelandair. I suggest you can contact Icelandair travel agents via this form to enquire about trips to an Icelandair destination or arrange a flight to Iceland via an local travel agent. Fanfest admission only will be available through the EVE store.
