OMG this game is intence i'm gonna be going into town later and buying some new pairs of underware... i must have got thro about 10 pairs last night! anyway Very Happy good game definatly recomend it.

P.S. If you do buy it dont go by the minimum specs on the case. I'd suggest an amd Athlon 2800+ 1024 ram and a 256mb geforce fx or equiv gfx card... this will run it smoothly on 1024x768 on med settings (which are still kickass)

Doom 3 scares the hell outta me tbh. Escpecially that one bit where you go into a toilet and that imp thing jumps out of the darkness ugh

And it'll be even scarier when I get my Geforce 6 Ultra Twisted Evil

While the game has its moments of fear bulding, the game can be wrapped up in 4 words, "System Shock 2 Clone!" Its not doom, doesn't create the doom atmosphere ( no wide open spaces and low number of villans on screen at once ). On top of that there isn't any damage to terminals you shoot. Talk about not realistic for a game that wants you to be there in the jaws of hell crying, "Mommy mommy I need the teat!"

Only thing i wish it added was leaving bullet holes in items.. I love smacking a coke can with my flashlight and having it fly across the room with a dent in it, though.

lots of differant opinions on this game, this game has been the most mentioned game on these forums for a long time so it must be good. I think doom 3 is an excellent game myself, no other game has made me feel this on edge since the nemesis came bursting through a door on resident evil 3, also the mod potential for this game is imense, lol by this time next year youll probaly be able to drive a tank through those dark coridors.

Yea I agree that the mod potential may be very good for this game. After playing it yesterday i thought it would be cool to have an Aliens mod, cos the grimy and claustrophobic setting would be perfect. Or even better, if another developer used the engine to make a new Aliens game but with more varied loctions and the ol' scanner they use in AvPEvil or Very Mad With the visuals and atmosphere they could create, potentially, an even more scary experience than Doom3- one can always dream Very Happy

I must admit I would rather have had System Shock 3 than Doom 3 Smile

The only problems I have with Doom 3 are:

1. Much too dark!
2. Shooting people in the knee brings nothing different than shooting them in the head - the thing I loved most about Deus Ex was the different reactions of enemies depending on where you shot them!
3. It's too scary Crying or Very sad

Just got it a few days ago, sure is tense Very Happy I started off quite cautious, drawing out zombies into easy places to kill them, but my Call of Duty side kicked in today, went around like a madman, pistol rocks Laughing

You dont need all that hardware to run it smooth. I run on 1024x768, med qaulity and all advanced settings enabled (AA x2). I got a AMD Barton 2500+, 512 PC3200 ram and a Radeon 9700 Pro 128mb. Its runs smooth all the time, never any problems. Think I can raise the res to 1280 without any problems but I havent tried yet.

!!! peeps comon, you need to be getting some uber comps here, best i know of for doom 3:

AMD Athlon FX-53, GeForce 6800, 1GB+ of DECENT RAM, 10,000rpm HDD, SOME HUUUUUUGE moniter either CRT or an LCD with at least 16ms response time, such as the ViewSonic VP201b. Oh and don't forget your Creative Audigy 2 ZS and some great surround sound speakers for the ultimate feel of Doom3.

Prepare to **** yourself sillyTwisted Evil

i think my poster above me is trying to be sarcastic, but for doom 3 a GPU is very important, i can play on my 2000+ 512mb ram and 9700er on 800x600 with medium details, more not

I have just completed D3 with my (ageing) system:

P4 2.4
Geforce 4 Ti4600
512mb RAM

It was more than playable @ 800x600 I know thats not perfect but it still looked the nuts (and my GPU is DX8)

....will be upgrading when I have the money lol Very HappyLaughingLaughing

My system still manages to do alright...

1Ghz CPU
128MB GeForce FX 5200
512mb RAM

Got all the fancy crap turned off and it still looks better than most games... a bit of slowdown here and there but overall its holding up pretty well, better than Deus Ex 2 anyway....
