Same. Got t2 medium turrets of every race (no one cares about caldari), gal-amarr-min frigs @ V, and now I still have to get those Amarr and Minnie cruisers to V.
All this just for t1 cruisers, I hate t2 ships. Rolling Eyes

Is there any point left to training minmitar other than a hedge bet that their suckage will be unnerfed?

Ludicrous speed was broken, admittedly, but what else did the minies have going for them?

I saw ones outside a station yesterday that were purpley and looked like lightning (sort of) with the new effects. Are they good crystals? If so, I may crosstrain just for the awesome looks. Not if they are failcrystals though.

This is what I tell people:

If they like PvE I tell them to train caldari. If they think they will PvP I tell them to train Gallente. Gallente has some very nice ships that can be pretty lethal even with low SPs.
This is because of Gallente drone boats.

- Drones take less time to train then Gunnery and Missiles and even if you go with any other race you will eventually need to train drone skills anyways.
- Armor tanking takes less time to train then shield tanking
- Dominix is one of those rare ships that is good for PvP and PvE.

No matter which race you go with that race will have some good and some bad ships. I'll do a quick rundown of all the races. I would like to highlight some of the ships.

Amarr. )
- t1 cruisers are sort of weak
- HACs: Zealot incredible little ship, designed to do one thing but it does it extremely well. It's a glass cannon though.
- Recons: Curse is crazy powerful in certain situations. One of the better recons.
- Battleships: Very good battleships. Abaddon is a miss though. Anything you want to do with abaddon, Apoc or Geddon will do better. If you want to snipe use Apoc, if you want ton of DPS pick an Armageddon instead. Abaddon just doesn't excel at any purpose except low sec pirating because of a large buffer tank.
- Amarr capitals are all nice frankly. Revelation is my favorite dreadnought.

Gallente )
- great frig size ships, Incursus is a great cheap tackler and Taranis is sweet as well for an interceptor
- Great cruisers. Vexor can dish out some impressive DPS for a tech 1 cruiser, celestis is an underrated performer as well.
- HACs: While Deimos disappoints, Isthar surely makes up for it. It's a great HAC drone platform. Pretty feared when flown right.
- Recons: No other "Force Recon" accomplishes the actual force recon duty as well as Arazu. Wow is all I have to say. Slap a probe launcher and search for victims for your little gang. If you're good everyone's going to love you, except for the victims of course.
- Dominix: incredibly versatile ship, due to drones being it's primary damage there is no limit what you can do with the actual ships fittings. Every time you fight a Domi I guaranty you will be surprised. Probably my favorite tier 1 battleship.
- Megathron is a really good performer as well. Easily converted into a fleet sniper. Or a mean solo ganking machine. Recent web nefs have made it slightly less viable for the solo ganking role.
- Capitals: Thanatos is not the best carrier but it makes up for it in versatility. Nyx also doesn't perform nowhere near as good as it looks. Erebus is my favorite titan, with it's really good bonuses and heat damage it does. And Moros is the only dreadnought capable of inflicting some serious damage to sub capital ships.

Caldari)
- Crow is a nice interceptor.
- Blackbird brings EW ECM jamming for cheap.
- Cerberus does ton of damage at long ranges, however missile flight time can be an issue.
- Drake is an amazing mission runner only behind a Nighthawk
- Falcon, no ship has been responsible for more tears on these forums. Crowd control 6-7 targets from 240Km while being able to cloack and warp. This ship is getting nerfed though.
- Scorpion used to be one of the most feared battleships in fleet ingagements due to it's ability to ECM jamm. Falcon has taken that role away from Scorpion although in upcoming patches it looks like Scorpion is getting long deserved dmg bonus back. So you may see more of these.
- Raven: good battleship, great for POS bashing or ratting, not so much in sniper fleet engagement due to missile flight time.
- Rokh: An ok fleet sniper, with incredible range. Even with tech 1 guns and ammo you will not have any issue reaching incredible range.
- Caldari capitals are good, although many favor armor tanking, caldari offer some of the best tanks in game. Phoenix offers a unique ability to change damage types with it's torpedoes when POS bashing. Caldari super caps are great when paired up with other caldari caps.

Minmatar )
- Some of the best frig sized ships.
- Some of the best interdictors and hictors
- Good cruisers
- HACs: Vagabond an amazingly fast cruiser sized ship which can be sometimes very hard to counter. Very popular ship in roaming gangs.
- Recons: Rapier is nice.
- minmatar suffers from dual systems syndrome, what I mean by that is that to be a good all around minmatar pilot you need skills in armor tanking, shield tanking, gunnery, turrets and drones. Some of the ships are very skill intensive. With that said:
- Battleships: Tempest in my personal opinion is the best fleet sniper with it's good DPS, huge alpha which is very important in laggy fights, relatively easy to fit with a remote armor repper even in sniper configuration.
- Capitals: some may dissagree but I think the minmatar carrier is the best for the actual purpose carriers serve the most which is repping stuff. I am not sure why anyone would waste time to train for Minmatar dreadnoughts though with their dual weapon systems.

That is a very nice summary Al'Htaed. I hope other people read that when they are new so that they can have more of an idea which direction they want to train in.

There are some ships missed out, but all in all a good writeup (Eagle, kestrel, covert ops).

We should really try and get a sticky going with comments about each races ships so that people can see what the average player thinks about them Very Happy

Yup I did miss some great ships, but I just wanted to touch on some key ships. Obviously ships like: Onyx, Hurricane and Harbinger are also the ones I missed and are very nice ships :)
