I would expect you can do lvl 3's in an arbitrator quite well due to the fact that you can send drones in from well out of the enemies range. Like the Vexor which I have used for these just to try it. Fit a couple of link augmentors in your high slots and orbit the main bulk of the enemies at range while letting the drones do the work. As long as you fit a tank for the right damage type and fit an AB to outrun them you should be fine. Just make sure you have everything aggressed or your drones will go pop. |

Edited by: Ghengis Tia on 09/03/2009 17:44:41 Just off the top of my head for long range:
Highs: 2 Med/Heavy Beam Lasers whatever fits, 1 HML, 1 Drone Link Augmentor
Meds: 1 AB, Cap Rechargers
Lows: Med Armor Repper, Power Diagnostic system, 2 heat sinks, or 1 HS/DCU.
Short Range:
Highs:2 big pulses, whatever fits, 1 HAML, 1 Nos (probably Medium)
Meds and Lows the same as above.
5 Hobgoblins, 5 Hammerheads, the rest of the drone bay your choice.
Train up drone skills, missile skills also (for the future even tho you only have one launcher).
Hobs for the frigs, Hammers for the cruisers.
There are probably better short range fits as I usually missioned with the long range setup.
You can also put in an EANM in the lows for tanking in lieu of the DCU, but the DCU saved my Arby a number of times.

I would go full tank and maybe a 1600 plate and forget the guns because the drones will do your damage. Sadly I lost my old Arbi fittings but I used to run lvl 3 Sarum combat missions till I reached 8 standing with it. Edit: For the old times sake I loaded eft and tried to recreate my old fitting: Hi: Not important (maybe a tractor beam and some drone link augmentors if you like) Med: named 10MN AB, 3xT2 Cap recharger Low: named medium armor repairer, 2x T2 Energized Platings of your choice, 1x named 1600 plate Is cap stable and should be able to take a punch with 6,5k+ armor. |

Edited by: Ace Secunda on 09/03/2009 18:09:00 I agree totally, you need to be well out of their range which is out of your gun range so fit tractors/salvagers to clean up after and an AB should make you fast enough against most rats(maybe not angels), I would go maybe 1600 plate, 2 x hardner(rat specific), med repper.
Again I agree, Energized Plates would probably cover you too. |

Just going to throw it out there, you might make more isk running level 2 missions fast.
But you should be able to do a lot of level 3's in an arbi, especially if you rig it. |

Had a passive shield tanked Arbi once, which did an impressive job even in lvl3.
Most Amarr won't have the skills to pull this off, but the Arbi is probably the best passive shield tanked T1 cruiser around. |

Possible, yes, but better to either stick to L2 or jump in a Harbinger. I did both. |

You would rig a T1 Cruiser? O_o Originally by: JCache

Yes, but only worth it if you run caldari missions. A shield tank doesnt work well against Amarr mission rats. Originally by: Zijiruu everyone is wrong

Great attitude man... So how long does your setup last? 10 minutes? |

LOL - you serious?! Thats a terrible fitting! Firstly dictating range is an arbi's strongest ability which means an afterburner is a must, dual rep is useless because you wont tank most level 3 in this anyway. You will also not want to fill your highs with salvagers and tractors since you will need a gun to control agro (this could be done with a mid but you don't really have any to spare). This is what I have used for level 2 missions: [Arbitrator, New Setup 1] Medium Armor Repairer II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II 10MN Afterburner II Medium Beam Laser II, Multifrequency S Salvager I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] Hammerhead II x5 Theory with it is basically kite the enemy ships. With my skills it all runs perma except for the salvagers/tractors, which isn't really an issue in combat terms. EANMs can always be switched for specific hardeners and you're pretty much free to rig it as you see fit. You may need a ccc rig to make it cap stable and an armour rigs wouldn't really hurt, though they will reduce your max speed and likely cause you to take more damage. Speed rigs on the other hand will reduce your EHP though in theory not affect your tank. You could also drop a tractor beam and use a drone link augmenter since your fitting isn't an issue, though that will depend on your long range targeting skill and how good your drone skills are. |
