I fly sleipnirs have trained support skills pretty high, I have also have very good gunnery skills, But none of this help me from getting wtfpwned by a freindly curse in a little duel. I would time my cap booster injections just so i could use the burst tank. after the first fight which was fairly close my freind started cycling the nuets which wreaked havoc on my tank. I have tried ecm drones and tracking enhancers but to no avail. my optimal with the tracking enhancer was 762m when I was being tracking disrupted with barrage. Dealing with that and the cap problems I couldnt overcome that cursed curse after mutiple tries. so After thinking about, how I perceived that the falcons were overpowered I realized its not that they are over powered it just that the minmatar race is severly lacking and in desperate need of a boost. this curse ate and chewed up a vaga and damn near every minmatar cruiser we had one on one. So I sit here in astonishment after pouring 26 mil skillpoints in what seems to be a subpar race wandering where should I go. So I think, could my huggin own a abso or a nighthawk so easily , saddly I dont think so ......not even close.

So I appoligize to all the falcon pilots because ur ship is doing what it suppose to be doing well and so is the curse/pilgrim it just seems the minmatar after this last patch are the only ones trully looking for some kind of identity. I would love to hear some suggestion on setups .. maybe my setup is wrong with the burst tank in mids and 3 gyros in the lows and 220 in the highs. i treid to fight the curse in falloff but that didnt help one bit. so someone please enlighten me to the strategy or a setup thats viable for solo ownage in a sleip. i would glady appreciate it.. signed disheartenedugh

There's nothing wrong with your ship, you just need to learn how to pilot it properly.

So do tell Mr. Simon how am I suppose to pilot it correctly? what are u reffering to? fall-off fighting or close range , which is preferable fighting the curse ? what am I not doing when fighting a curse. please give more details then the above stated. That has no relevance at at all if u cant explain yourself nor can you even suggest I am flying it wrong. Please by all means enlighten me on the correct way to fly it..I have no choice but to listen.Neutral

This has nothing to do with Minmatar, Gallente CS would be in even more trouble than you as at least you could/should have fitted for speed and a passive tank. ECM drones work for crap as he's in recon and you should have realised that.

It's very simple; if a Curse is faster than you and you don't kill off his drones he's going to win, if you let him 'suck' on you for a while he's going to win. This again has nothing to do with you flying Minnie but rather with your ship being ill equiped to catch a Curse; they LOVE slower targets without a whole lot of drones/missiles.

And particularly ones that can be totally crippled by range scripts in TDs (hello autocannons).
Your best bet would be to overload your MWD and try to get close enough to the curse to web/scram him, at which point your autocannons would be able to hit and tear him apart pretty quickly.
But given that you're in a sleipnir and probably aren't fitting a web or a short range scram, this might give you a problem :P

Ok i get what you are saying so what tatic should I use, If I setup the sleip the way ur are suggesting I would totally be going against the bonuses of the ship. IF I microwarp over to him hes going to be constantly trying to get away fom me while eating my cap. which then i would still have no cap for web or propulsion because he will be cycling the neuts... how do i counter that. A QR sleip is not the same a pre QR sleip. I cant and want beat him at speed unless i totally gimp my tank and my dps. and with me adding a web or trying to fit a passive tank with one less midslot than a fleet will be tough. So what is the tatic to use? get close to him fast as possible and overheat everything to burn through his buffer tank before my cap goes..hmm

P.S i wouldnt have problems dealing with a gallenter command ship becasue I would fight him in falloff and with me constanlty running an AB would dictate range. which is the problem fighting the curse and I wouldnt be tracking disruted making my optiaml 762m

If you don't have a big dronebay with good drone damage, if you don't fire missiles, if you can't close in on him using speed then you don't fight a Curse.

A turret CS isn't fast enough nor does it have the drones/missiles to take care of the problem. So the only way to not lose to a Curse in your situation is to not fight.

What.

You expect to dictate range vs a Gallente ship by using an AB...?

People who don't fit MWDs on Sleipnirs are weird. -_-'

Edit: To stay on topic, Tzar is completely right.

Exactly. The curse is the counter to your ships bonuses dont expect to beat it by using them. What my cap dependent turret based ship died to an anti-cap/turret ewar ship? No waaaay.

some ships are not meant to beat other ships. you could design a sleipnir that kills curses, but it'd be a pretty rubbish sleipnir. it'd have to be drone/missile based and have a passive buffer tank

If the Curse pilot is cycling his neuts, kiting you and generally dictating range, then he's a good Curse pilot and is likely going to kill most things.

The ECM drones are useless, he's in a recon so don't bother. A Curse has amazing e-war but it has **** poor (and destroyable) damage. Kill off his drones, if he's TD'ing you with range disruption, your 220s should still be able to track the drones (pack your own Warrior IIs for good measure).

Then you have a Curse, neuts and nos running but with no damage orbiting you. And that's eventually going to end with you getting back to gate/station or in some other fashion getting out of tackle range (bumping him off a roid in a belt or a structure in a plex, etc.) and getting away. You don't kill everyone all the time, and sometimes 'winning' is as simple as surviving to fight another day.

I'm not sure where you're going with this. Any ship you can name has another ship that is the rock to its scissors. If you want to "join" the invincible team you're going to be doing a lot of circular movement and end up back where you started.

All ships have strengths and weaknesses (yes, even the almighty Falcon Razz). It's important to understand both of these, and fly in situations that let you make use of your strengths while not letting the enemy exploit your weaknesses. And to reiterate, this is true of all races' ships.

Rock Paper Scissors

Curse is designed to deal with turret based / cap dependant ships
Sleipnir is designed to active tank (lolbonuses - heavily cap dependant) and deal high dps (with turrets).

The curse is the rock to your scissors if you will.

Your point about the Huginn is invalid because that is not the intended role of the ship - it is designed to slow things down and beat them with range (HML) or act as anti support.

Focus on thermal damage to handle Curse. It will be the weakest of their resists. While I'm preferring the shield buffer curse for gangs, you're probably encountering an armor tanked/td fit. Thermal will be his principle armor weakness, if he hasn't fit a hardener.

The best solution to curse is a good passive tank, the Curse's worst nightmare is a passive drake/raven. The only other way to handle the Curse is to either equip smartbombs to use before you're out of cap, and micromanage T2 warriors to kill his drones (make sure yours dont die tho) Unlike the Ishtar, he's only got 150 m3 drones, usually 10 mediums 10 lights; but if you kill enough of them he'll prolly get deterred. Also, if he's dictating range and not using optimal range scripts, always approach or keep distance from target to minimize transversal and optimize tracking. If he is using range scripts, might as well alt tab and post on the forums.

To OP:

It seems that all the ships you used to fight the Curse relied heavily on two things:

- cap for tank
- turrets for dps

Have you even read the Curse's ship description? It is freaking designed to kill your ships! This goes for any cap and turret based ships.

Chappers, I cannot stress just how dangerous and hard it is to take down a curse... Yesterday we were running a corp op in Dixie, Dominix, Maelstrom, Armageddon, and a Destroyer floating about... some guy had probed us down and warped in in a heron (caldari T1 frig), he stole from one of the cans, and i thought he was nuts... Locked loaded and I started smacking the scrote with 350mm prototypes from Domi and a bunch of heavy T1 Ogres (I have near 4 million drone Sp's)he was through shields in a blink and almost didn't get out alive... Wink

SOB came back in with a curse, and approached me neuting my DOMIXIO from about 30 k away... I ordered the homies to open up on the faeces but not much was getting through to him... he unloaded 5 Hammerhead II's and started to get to work on my Domi... T1 heavy Ogres were not having much of an effect on him, and inclding the mission aggro, my faction tanked Domi wasn't looking too good at all.

I was sitting at around 50% armour, warp disrupted, constant near 0 cap, his shields looked relatively stable and my mates were having a very hard time hitting the homosapien. Then for some reason he changed targets. He'd noticed a buddy of mine in the Geddon was taking most of the aggro... And I mean probably about 400 DPS from a new wave on Level 4 The Blockade. Without realising why, I noticed I was free and warped out, recharged 40% cap and flew back in... within 60 seconds my mates Geddon was a wreck, and he's roughly 28 mill Sp, all combat, guy can't fly a hauler ffs. To make things worse, the Geddon was heavily dampened by the NPC's and couldn't even get a shot off... Sad

The feral jamrag was now nearly into armour, 10% left of shields or something, then I went for his drones, again ony with t1 heavies, I wish i'd have done it earlier, his drones started popping and shortly after he left...

Devastated... Us i mean lmao...

we set up some HAC's with the intention of nailing the guy if he came back in... He ddn't come back... he ****d us... and wanna know the sad thing? he had less sp than any of us...

Whatever it is that's gonna take him down, can't be active tanked unless it's got more plates than a chinese plate manufacturer in plateland - Planet Plates. and it needs T2 Warriors as some of chappers commented about before... Take out it's drones and you take out it's damage dealing... out neuting it is difficult cos of it's bonuse, BUT... if you neut it enough to cancel out it's cap enough to nullify it's own neuts, well you've got a chance. a passive tanked BC with autocannons, or similar be pretty decent against it... but even then your cap will dissapear in about 10 seconds. Take heed. you will almost certainly be owned under any other circumstances...Sad

I think I found the problem, you tried to use an active tanking ship in a 1V1 situation with the PERFECT counter for active tanks, the Curse.

You should probably avoid NEUT/NOS boats in your Sleipner that would be step one in piloting it correctly. This has nothing to do with Minmatar being gimped it has to do with you picking a really poor fight for your loadout.

Wow, you just proved one of the old axioms of EVE. If you fit your ship right and choose your fights you will win with any amount of SP.

Where to start hmmm. Well let's see Ogre Is can't track cruisers!? HERESY!? NERF!!!!

Secondly, battleships fit for PVE are unable to destroy a recon fit for PVP that knows how to manage his transversals, WOW WHO WOULDA EVER THOUGHT?
