Okay, some of you may not know me as I havn't been on this char for long, Since the selling of my old charachter I noticed a few things.

Engagements - This charachter is not flashy yet, but is in a pirate corp, banned from intel channels and altogether red to anti-pirates. Yet no Anti-Pirate group in Molden Heath will engage me until I am flashy, which makes me think that they should change their descriptions.

The usual is NRDS (Not Red Don't Shoot). This should be replaced by. NFDS (Not Flashy Dont Shoot) I was in a Omen of all ships against Rapier, Typhoon etc.. and not one of them would engage me until I turned Flashy Laughing

Dishounour - After a long and boring conversation with a Anti-Pirate in the system of Sakulda, the gauntlet was thrown for a nice lil 1v1 to end this argument, not wanting to play on stations we went to a Planet and proceeded, as soon as I engaged and was Tackled. In come 5 Friends of hers.

Naming Names

Corp: Minmatar and Gallente Association
This was the corporation the origional 1v1 engagement was with

Corp: Aurora Acclivitous
And these are the local anti-pirates who the origional one broke our 1v1 with. These guys have a special place in my heart for not been able to pvp without at least 5 in fleet.

Alliance : Electus Matari
Again, used to shoot my other charachter on several occasions, now I am not flashy, will not engage. Although props to Cyphus and Arkasdy (spell check) Ive had good fights and experiences against both Laughing

Anyway, Thats it I think... and first before anybody else

This Will be dealt with

If you aren't going to eat that piece of cake pass it over.

****ery aside, Anti-pirates are a confused bunch. Often people just going through the motions or part time pirates that dont want to commit (looking at you CVA Sov. holders and your hangers on) as often as they are a proper outfit.

The easy solution is just to blow them up. It helps prevent confusion all round.

Being flashy gets you ganked more often, that much is for sure. Not being flashy does not fully protect you from getting ganked by EM, though, as I am sure many fellow pirates of yours can confirm.

(The 1-on-1 breakage here does not concern us, so I will not comment it. No idea what happened there and to be honest don't care much.)

Having been on both sides of the anti-pirate/pirate divide I'll just confirm there's an awful lot of crap talked about anti-piracy and the people who do it.

Personally, if I can get hold of you, flashy or not and am confident of tanking the guns I'll happily clean you up as would virtually anyone I've ever flown with as anti-pirates in MH.

That said, if you're in a frig or something equally small I'd have to weigh up whether I want to take the sec hit and the GCC timer over something that poses next to no threat. Often there are just much better targets around.

The other thing that has to be considered is the tap-dancing that goes on around gates in low-sec. Pirates and anti-pirates both do it. Gate guns can be the deciding factor in any engagement in low-sec and knowing your ship and the mechanics of aggro and GCC timer is vital if you want to win more than you lose.

If not being engaged seriously concerns you, get in a belt in Heild/Hrokkur and stay there for 30 seconds.

And as for the dishonoured 1 vs 1, if I have your previous main identified correctly, having read his blog, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a dramatically different version of events to be told.

But then there always is.

Maybe we just suck at targeting, Jamuga? Shocked Or maybe we were at that gate for someone else. Twisted Evil

Anyway, if anyone is still uncertain whether we ever fire on non-flashy, I recommend checking out say my own current sec status, or that of certain other people currently on the "fix that sec status already ffs!" list. Mine's not quite as bad as it used to be, but getting it above zero with our current campaign seems to be... a pain. Embarassed

Let me explain this simply.

Your average Pirate is a rabid dog that needs to be put down.
Now any means can be used in the pusuit of above goal, ie justice for all those innocent Mr Carebears.

Now Mr Pirate has a much lower IQ than your average Anti Pirate (proven fact), The carrot on the stick being solid tactic.

Now anti pirate (hero in the story) has choice of many flavours of carrot for unsuspecting pirate. This be as simple to the unsuspecting animal as a duel or a big fat tasty badger.

ANti Pirate then returns home to heroes welcome and posts latest kill. Job well done.

Shooting people who are not flashing in low sec is illegal and so anyone that does so is themselves comiting an act of piracy.
These people are not scared of you they are just obeying the law.
Grow some balls and shoot first or get your sec status down too minus 5 then it will be a diferent story with the anti pirates im sure.
In the mean time your proberly not worth the sec hit to alot of people.

As for 1v1s only a complete idiot would fall for that one you can guarnatee your falcon alt or a corp mate with one is on standby.

Technically true.

However, in practice, all anti-pirate forces I know of consider known pirates / pirate organizations fair game regardless of status. It is way too easy to stay above -5 in sec if you want to; CONCORD regulations have way too many backdoors.

Here is a very simple formulation of piracy as EM understands it (format stolen from MirrorGod, though I change details):

* Shooting someone in a hostile force (e.g. hostile militia, someone trying to invade your space in 0.0, someone who declared a war against you): they are an enemy, so not this is not pirating.
* Shooting someone in an organization who engages in piracy: they started it, so this is not pirating.
* Shooting someone who is neutral and harmless just because I feel like it for whatever reason: this is piracy.

Note that by this definition, you can declare a war on someone and still pirate them. What matters is why you shoot them, not why or how you go around CONCORD.

First of all, all anti-pies except for a few, are full of crap, they thoroughly believe in being better, in being a superior player ... if i didn't know better i'd say they were indoctrinated before starting EVE and the fact that most pirates choose to pirate is because they have a greater pool of targets never actually crossed their mind; most likely they didn't shoot you because you were in a cruiser and they didn't want GCC for it, especially since after the QR patch, they are very hard to tackle.

As far as 1;1, never take 1;1's from anti-pies unless they come over to your space and you can control the conditions. If they will dishonor it they will either excuse themselves by you being pirate and free to do whatever to kill you, or by saying they just happened to be there or by 'it is not my business'.
That being said, never take 1;1s in MH from FDN - 1;1 with cyno fitted ship, EM, and most of the anti-pies. The only ones i actually 1;1'd in MH were Ragnarox's corp, Aurora Acclivitous which did indeed honor it, and Inspector Recon's corp, Phoenix Tribe also honor them.

I don't usually bother going out-of-character on any forums, but the above warrants a reply.

I do not, as a player, have anything whatsoever against people choosing to play pirates in the game. Antipiracy is not something I believe to be "superior" - it is simply one way to play the game, and the way I currently happen to be playing. (Because it's fun, for me.)

I am an RPer so you hear me go on about bad ebil pirates and defending the Republic and all that jazz, but in fact that's just another part of the game: acting the part of the arrogant wannabe officer of law homeguard for the enjoyment of all. Or in any case myself. Twisted Evil In reality, it's just a goddamn game of internet spaceships and I don't seriously harbor any illusions that you cannot be a perfectly nice guy in RL just because you choose to be a pirate in a computer game.

In fact, my chosen playstyle would become pretty frigging boring pretty frigging fast if all pirates chose to become nice law-abiding citizens over night. So pls, don't, and keep up the pewpew.

I honestly didn't know that EM were RP-ers ... no matter. I have never met you in-game so my opinions concerning anti-pies were dictated by my interactions with other ppl, many of whom you probably never met in-game as well, so i don't understand why you felt threatened by my post - the ppl i did talk with about this were not RP-ers and thoroughly believed that they were superior for walking on the 'straight and narror'.
My interractions with EM in MH were somewhat limited but i did notice that you provided cyno's for FDN or just plain baiting for FDN, collaborating on Cap ops with them to boost their already 5:1 numbers ... etc.. I would not 1;1 you guys because as far as i can tell you have no retribution on dishonoring deals, and i had the feeling that just as FDN you were playing to win; generally the alliances/corps i have met in-game that had this philosophy had no qualms with dishonoring deals. It might be my impression though, and i was pretty hurt when BYDI first moved into MH and we were not outlaws, and you guys banned me from your public channel - that was not nice.

PS: Russian Sparta were also great for fights, always honored 1;1's, and Imperator3000/Hronyk/Heavy Knight are great fun in local or when they get sloshed. :)

Being RPers does not mean we cannot play to win. Twisted Evil

And yea, I know that there are antipirates who seriously think that being that in a computer game makes them somehow good people, just as there are pirates who think that somehow being a pirate makes them uber. Silly notions, both. I just wanted to clarify (since OP mentions EM by name) that I am not one of them.

And yea, we ban pirates from an antipirate intel chan. Fancy that. Twisted Evil

I wouldn't bother losing sec status over an omen either if I still did the anti-pie thing in MH. Tech 1 cruisers are a less than a dime a dozen.

You should change to something more expensive, like a hac or recon ship. I think you will find more people willing to take the sec hit for an expensive ship like that.

I see a few old names in this thread. \o to you all.

Hehehe, this is funny tread.

to the guy above, oh.. they hotdropped once or twice (who doesn't). Now compare it to FDN. Lucky they aren't using these tactics anymore.

Funny that my corpmate Lord Jamuga is only a 2008 player who agreed an 1vs1 against a 2003 player (which even called in for help for 5 other people in this case AU-AC). That is for me the most funniest part. Looks that the anti-pies don't have the balls to show skills instead of numbers (even when most characters are 2/3 years older then I am).

IF you really want to kick us out of the region and earn a good name (from our side) I suggest you change your tactics then just use the ever same old tactic of 10BS's, the falcon & hics :)

antipies are usually puhssies who don't want to lose their sec status and generally can't pvp unless in massive fleets. Also, they don't want to leave high sec - run away option, either because they carebear or just run when the wardec comes.
pirate usually roams around looking for a fights, antipies sit on gates /station and wait for OMGBLINKYRED to gank.

Oh goodie another anti-pi versus pirate threasd, last time I replied to one of these I managed to make some MH people freak out about my former corp, so here it goes again :)

The way I see this whole thing is that to enter into low sec is to anticipate a fight, and to declare yourself as anti-pi is to hunt pirates. And to say that a pirate is only a pirate if they are flashy red is both niave and lazy. If I were you Jam just carebear away a little bit just to keep above -5 and then get away with murder til a few more peeps grow some balls :)

I personally hate pirates, they always cut me off in traffic, and always drop their cigerettes butts on the floor rather than in the offically allocated cigerette disposal trays put there for their convenience and our public health. Bastards!

Anti-Pirates are a myth perpetrated by those who think they can have their cake and eat it too. "I want pewpew, but I don't want the nasty sec hit. So instead, I will wait for the Cockroaches to start eating my face and then release the bug bombs."

If you are committed to your cause, then you'll find a way to live up to your chosen 'profession'. If not, then there will be a whole bunch of sword rattling and no blood spilled.
