Recently I fell victim to a session change timer flaw which in my opinion should not have happened but because of the game mechanics of session timers my petition was refused...
On grounds of realism this is why I`m posting this not in retaliation to a refused refund petition..
please read on...
Ok so I was nipping over to jita from metro space and decided just to shuttle it through the few losec jumps rather than take the long route round.. Nearing the end of the losec jumps I hit a gate camp where the guy was spamming smart bombs and needless to say as i dropped out of warp and hit the gate to jump my shuttle was blowen up,, sitting in the pod I clicked a further two times to jump each time getting the message "Session change already in progress".. naturally then I was podded by the smart bombs costing me 5 +4 implants, 5 3% hardwirings and a nifty 33k skillpoints off my mini bs lvl 5 much to my discust... after petitioning this for a refund it was explained to me that the transaction from ship to pod is deemed as a session change which triggered the 30 second session change timer..
SO in short if you lose your ship you have 3 options available to you 1: throttle away in hope the guy blowing your ship up completly loses sight of your pod (unlikley) 2: warp to another part of the system (fair enough) 3: sit there within jump range of the gate trying to jump through but getting no joy (me)
So what i`m generally asking for is a change to the session timer that upon transaction from ship to pod (or even ship to ship) that there is a zero timer on it...
at the end of the day in reality I would have jumped through the gate in my pod and escaped without losing the above mentioned,, because of the 30 second timer it would not allow me to jump.
Comments plz on removing the session change timer.

I don't think they can remove it. I'm pretty sure the only reason it's there is because it takes time for the server to be told that you've changed ship/system/fleet etc. In other words, just because you can see on your screen that you're in your pod (client side) as far as the universe is concerned, you might still be in your ship (server side) if you've lagged. I think the session timer is there so as you at least know there's going to be a delay, rather than being surprised by it. |

The reason that was explained to me for session timers was to prevent ships getting "stuck",,
If certain aspects of the session timers could be changed eg.. ship to pod then this would be more realistic...
Just at the end of the day in my first post I would have avoided being podded if the timer wasn`t present, this "LAG" was promptly point blank refused in a petition... which I felt was rather unfair.. 9 seconds passed between me changing to pod and clicking the gate 3 times to jump,,
possibly even a reduce of the 30 seconds and drop it to 5 seconds or sumthin?
again i`d like to stress this thread is not a flam about getting a petition refused it is about making a certain aspect of the game more realistic/relative to realtime.
at the very least the session timer rules should be issued to new eve players so that they are aware of there options should they lose the ship, as an example the reason I petitioned this was in my 2+ years of playing this is the first time i`ve came across this.. needless to say i`1ve found out the hard way.
