R.U.R. vs Chain of Chaos

Reported By: ISD Clarity Brown

R.U.R. claimed a clear victory over Chain of Chaos in the first match of day 5, pitting a high damage, close range cruiser fleet against a Chain of Chaos setup that appeared to anticipate a long-range opponent.

R.U.R.: Harbinger | Hurricane | 4 Omen Navy Issue | Rapier | 3 Rupture
Chain of Chaos: 3 Abaddon | Damnation | 4 Maulus | Dominix

Both teams set up with most of their ships sitting nose-to-nose in the centre of the arena, with Chain of Chaos's sensor damping Maulus frigates staying well back out of the way. The match started slowly, with R.U.R.'s Omen Navy Issue cruisers focusing their fire immediately on Nikuno's Abaddon. Nikuno's tough armour held up for almost 6 minutes while both sides jockeyed for the optimal position, and DeltaTeam of R.U.R. was the first to die, losing his Omen Navy Issue but doing enough damage in the process to take Nikuno's Abaddon with it.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m1-2.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

R.U.R. continued to focus on the enemy Abaddons, making the most of their advantage by cruising under the effective range of the apparently long-range Chain of Chaos ships, forcing them to struggle to land an effective blow by holding close and orbiting fast, pushing the Abaddon's tracking to the limit against their vastly smaller signature radii.

The two R.U.R. battlecruisers and the Omen Navy Issues focused on taking out Woei1988's Abaddon at the price of Mormir's Omen Navy Issue. Chain of Chaos picked off Rira Vanga's Omen Navy Issue, but their damage capabilities were clearly suffering with the loss of two battleships and they were unable to prevent the loss of Grotho Minarra's Abaddon, the last of their battleships.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m1-3.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

Duhust, piloting the Chain of Chaos Dominix, was perhaps the team member put in the most awkward position by R.U.R.'s close-range, relatively fast fleet. The Dominix seemed to have been set up as a mini-carrier, intended to deploy its minions, move away and then smartbomb anything close enough. But its drones were long-range sentry drones, slow-moving and almost useless in such a toe-to-toe fight. They swiftly vanished from the field, along with a lot of other drones caught in its smartbombs as it was mobbed by the enemy's ships, and by 15:10 Duhust's Dominix was no more than a graceless wreck.

Charakterowitch of R.U.R.'s Rapier than came into its own, closing in on the Maulus frigates and blowing them away one by one, while team mates Smolarev (Harbinger), Disintegrator (Hurricane), Rythalla (Omen Navy Issue), Palolko, Samice and Sairait (all in Ruptures) closed in on Kaleesh of Chain of Chaos' Damnation, focusing every whit of their firepower on the incredibly heavily-armored command ship. Myrdin Potter and Ma'qeth lost their Maulus class frigates to Charakterowitch's webs before Kaleesh succumbed to fire, leaving the Rapier to pick off Tefkros and erervos, the last Maulus frigates of Chain of Chaos team, clearing the field.

Ushra'Khan vs Molotov Coalition

Reported By: ISD Amaari Yolkia

Ushra’Khan’s (UNITY) unconventional fleet configuration secures them a victory against Molotov Coalition (MLTOV).

Ushra’Khan: 1 Damnation | 5 Sacrilege | 1 Ishtar
Molotov Coalition: 1 Nightmare | 1 Bhaalgorn | 1 Damnation | 3 Rook | 3 Ishkur

The match opened with UNITY immediately attacking the recon ships fielded by their rivals, while MLTOV chose to start their attack against their opponent’s Ishtar. An early lead was granted to UNITY as they successfully destroyed two Rooks before MLTOV was able to respond with the elimination of the Ishtar.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m2-2.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

MLTOV struggled for some time against a particularly studdorn Sacrilege, while they slowly lost each of their cruiser class ships. Eventually only their faction battleships remained, which despite persisting for a surprisingly long amount of time, eventually caved. The match ended with no further losses to the UNITY side.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m2-3.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

After the match Seliah, team captain for UNITY, commented on the team’s performance: “Very well. I'm really satisfied of this setup. No one had brought Sacrileges before.” When asked if it was risky bringing an untested fleet setup to the match she said: “No, because it had been tested. Well, not in any official matches.”

Xonja 2zero, a team member for MLTOV, thought they had done well despite the loss: “I think for what we had and what they brought we did as best as we could. To be honest, I'm happy it's over and we can go back to killing the unsuspecting eve populace.”

Unaffiliated vs Capital.Punishment

Reported By: ISD Caiden S'or

Match goes to time limit as Unaffiliated [--U--] moves on with a strong showing against Capital.Punishment [-CAP-].

Unaffiliated: Damnation | 3 Hurricane | 2 Rupture | 3 Stabber Fleet Issue | Thrasher
Capital.Punishment: Golem | 5 Drake | Manticore | 2 Hound

Both Hounds and the Manticore fielded by -CAP- fell in the opening minute of the match, setting the stage for tankfest as the battle quickly became a race to see if enough –U—damage could be removed from the field quickly enough to allow the relatively low damage output Drakes the chance to survive in a defensive match. It must be noted that the Hound piloted by NupetietVer was destroyed for a boundary violation, not enemy fire.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m3-2.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

Trading losses, -CAP- Drakes went down one by one as they were able to remove the –U- Hurricanes and Ruptures, but not before the outcome had been determined. In return, –U- deftly used their drones and Command ship bonuses to great advantage, as their pilots kept their smaller, faster ships trained and focused. The damage dealt was not enough to clear the field though, as this match ran out of time before the Golem piloted by TweakBoy could not be finished off.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m3-4.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

We caught up to Dani Leone after the match, obviously upbeat after the result, who piloted the lone Thrasher for –U--. When asked what she was thinking as the match started, she replied, “..okay, 50km out in a paper thin destroyer. I’m not going to get many shots off here.” As luck or skill would have it, Leone’s Thrasher managed to leave the field intact, when asked if this was a testament to the focus of the –U—Team, she replied “Yes, I’d have to say so, all of our team can be pretty focused when it is needed.”

Unaffiliated moves on to the next round, as the matches for this fifth day of the Tournament get under way.

The Church. vs Firmus Ixion

Reported By: ISD Magnus Balteus

Firmus Ixion moves onto the next round of the Finals after defeating The Church. in a close match.

Firmus Ixion: 9 Caracal Navy Issus | 1 Nighthawk
The Church.: 5 Stabber Fleet Issue | 2 Kitsune | 1 Rook | 1 Sleipnir | 1 Curse

At the opening signal, The Church. team deployed a cloud of combat drones and raced to close the distance with Firmus Ixion. FIX immediately dispersed their Caracal Navy Issues gaining distance and splitting up the pursuers.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m4-2.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

FIX gained an edge when [HOLY]Vlad Nitro’s Stabber experienced technical difficulties and left the arena.

Over the next several minutes, the teams traded blows almost one for one: [HOLY]Tajidan’s Kitsune for [FIX]11Ghost11’s Caracal, [HOLY]Tnam’s Stabber for [FIX]Odaroff’s Caracal.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m4-4.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

[HOLY]KTOZ’s Rook was destroyed for a boundary violation, continuing the alternating chain; Caracal, Stabber, Caracal, Kitsune, Caracal, Stabber.

FIX gained an additional lead with the destruction of [HOLY]Forgon’s Stabber, and the chain continued to it’s inevitable conclusion: [FIX]Skailfsha’s Caracal for [HOLY]Unleashed CSK’s Sleipnir, [FIX]Sola Lodi’s Caracal for [HOLY]Tinkerhell’s Curse, leaving [FIX]Dannii Monarkh and [FIX]4462DAVE in their Caracals and [FIX]Darth Falconx in his Nighthawk.

Dead Terrorists vs Privateer Alliance

Reported By: ISD Amaari Yolkia

Dead Terrorists (IKILU) secure a convincing win in their match against Privateer Alliance (PRVTR).

Dead Terrorists: 2 Abaddon | 1 Myrmidon | 5 Stabber Fleet Issue | 1 Republic Fleet Firetail
Privateer Alliance: 1 Rokh | 5 Drake | 4 Ishkur

The match began with both sides launching waves of drones, with IKILU deploying a large number of the electronic warfare variety, and PRVTER commanding a selection of combat drones. IKILU took the first blood, taking down Don ZOLA’s Ishkur, after charging towards their opponents.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m5-1.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

PRVTER quickly responded by eliminating one of the five Stabber Fleet Issue vessels perusing their fleet. For a while it looked like the match could go to either side, as ships fell from both teams; eventually IKILU managed to gain the upper hand, as they successfully managed to methodically neutralise each of the PRVTER drakes.

Finally only the Rokh remained, as it attempted in vain to destroy the drones surrounding it with a smartbomb device, it ultimately fell under fire. The match concluded with IKILU destroying all their rivals’ ships, while holding the field with two Abaddon, one Myrmidon, two Stabber Fleet Issue, and one Republish Fleet Firetail.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m5-4.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

Captain Thunk, captain for PRVTR, talks about the reasons for their defeat: “I think in each match we've tried fielding something completely different. This match we kind of expected them to field a similar speed based setup as their previous two matches. However, they brought 2 Abaddons.”

During the match pundits were confused about the intended role of the Rokh, he went on to clarify his reasoning: “It was fitted with 2 smart bombs, 2 neutralisers and cruise launchers. It was intended to deal with the expect EW drone swarm, perhaps provide an early primary and give out a little DPS.”

In the other team, larf1986 was pleased with how they handled the match: “A strong team built on good foundations, all my pilots have excellent abilities of being able to take orders and implement them quickly and effectively; this results in us being able to quickly change tactics and adapt to whatever we are presented with.”

Blade. vs G00DFELLAS

Reported By: ISD Clarity Brown

G00DFELLAS came close to scoring a flawless victory against Blade. in this match, with only the loss of De Morgean's Nighthawk stopping them claiming a perfect score.

Blade.: 7 Ishtar | Maulus
G00DFELLAS: 5 Ishkur | 5 Nighthawk

The fight began with G00DFELLAS' Ishkurs out at long range, their Nighthawks a little back from the front line, and Blade's full team in the very centre of the arena. Tzuko1, captain of the G00DFELLAS team, said that this was important:

"We expected Blade. to use a different setup] actually, but when we saw they warped close to us, we knew we had this match."

As often happens, the softest target - Elberet's Tech 1 Maulus frigate from the Blade. team - was the first to fall. Uhr Zylex, Zheusius, Lord Mordin, Proxay and DevilFox in Blade. Ishtars were then swiftly picked off next by heavy missile fire. In addition to his ship and combat modules, Proxay lost 1,600 units of spirits for the planned party after the match, a Griffin blueprint and the salvager whereby he hoped to profit from the wrecks of his enemies.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m6-1.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

Blade started by launching clouds of Berserker II and Ogre II heavy drones, while G00DFELLAS went with light, fast and agile Warrior II combat drones and Hornet EC-300 electronic warfare drones. When Proxay of Blade. was asked if he felt that their initial choice of drones was a factor in their loss, he replied:

"Not really, Nighthawks have high kinetic and thermal resistance. We didn't know 100% [what we'd be up against], but our feelings told us they'd bring Nighthawks. Just as with the last two rounds, we guessed at what we'd be up against."

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m6-3.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

Blade. began swapping their heavy combat drones for Bouncer II sentry drones, while focusing every whit of firepower they had against De Morgean of G00DFELLAS' surprisingly agile Nighthawk which was G00DFELLAS first and only casualty of the match, 5 minutes into the fighting.

The rest of the match was a litany of Blade. explosions, which they took in good heart. KILL0R and Strathis Mikluk did their best to make to make the surviving G00DFELLAS team (Francky Nackols, Bubba12, Justice forHungary, Miklas Laces and Pegas - Ishkurs; YChin Mei, The Ice, Tzuko1 and Sokata - Nighthawks) work for their victory, attempting to shed the Iskurs' drones and outrun missiles, but by 16:48, G00DFELLAS held the field uncontested.

Cry Havoc. vs Gay4Life

Reported By: ISD Caiden S'or

Well fought match on both sides yields victory for CryHavoc[C H], as Gay4Life [G4L] just didn’t have enough firepower to remove fourth Paladin from the match.

CryHavoc: 4 Paladin|6 Ishkur
Gay4Life: 6 Ishtar|4 Ishkur

After losing an Ishkur in the opening minutes of the match, G4L rallied to focus fire and down one of the four C H Paladins brought to the match. It became evident, though, as the match progressed that the Marauder class ships were not going to be removed quickly enough as the combined C H fleet were able to chase down and destroy two more of the Assault Frigates and two Heavy Assault Cruisers piloted by the G4L pilots before the next Paladin fell.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m7-2.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

As the G4L Bouncer II and Warrior II drones went about their business against the larger ships, the C H Ishkurs were able to send their Warrior II drones and Vespa EC-600 ewar drones after the rest of the G4L fleet, adding enough damage and neutralizing enough ships to bring down the G4L fleet one after another. In the end, only one of the C H Paladins survived, while the rest of the fleet remained intact as they were able to eliminate the entire G4L fleet as the Ishtar piloted by Red Skywatcher was the last to fall.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m7-4.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

When asked about the performance of her team this match, C H team Captain Mistress Suffering replied, “Satisfied. We could have used smartbombs a little better to neutralize more of the sentry drones, but beyond that it went according to plan.” We also asked her if she was surprised by the setup they faced, to which she replied, “A little bit…” but as to the difficulty of this match this match, she stated, “No match in the tournament is guaranteed. We just need to stay focused, [fight] smart, and adapt as needed. “

The Five vs Veni Vidi Vici

Reported By: ISD Magnus Balteus

The Five carried an extremely convincing win over Veni Vidi Vici in this afternoon’s match.

The Five: 6 Caracal Navy Issue | 1 Rattlesnake | 1 Kitsune | 1 Ishkur | 1 Nighthawk
Veni Vidi Vici: 5 Ishtar | 2 Drake | 1 Griffin | 1 Vigil

Although Ishtar heavy fleets have not been particularly successful during the qualifying rounds, Veni Vidi Vici chose to field one anyway. The result was a complete elimination of Veni Vidi Vici at the cost of Seldarine’s Nighthawk; the only loss suffered by The Five.

HUZZAH FEDERATION vs BeachBoys

Reported By: ISD Amaari Yolkia

Huzzah Federation (HF) decimates their opponents BeachBoys (BH-FU) with a deadly swarm of Stabber Fleet Issue vessels.

HUZZAH FEDERATION: 1 Damnation | 9 Stabber Fleet Issue
BeachBoys: 4 Apocalypse | 4 Manticore | 2 Griffin

The sight of Shan Tsung’s Manticore exploding was the first sign that the match had started, as the HF Stabbers moved violently towards the frigates piloted by their foes. BH-FU attempted to slow down the incoming onslaught, and in part was successful, as they took down one of their enemies cruisers.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m9-3.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

Unfortunately for BH-FU their opponents were far too efficient, and within just the first few minutes of the match they had successfully destroyed every single one of the frigates piloted by their comrades. They were now left with four Apocalypse class battleships remaining as they desperately fought back to try to reclaim the match.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m9-4.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

HF was now left to frantically avoid the deadly turrets of the remaining battleships, as they attempted to finish off their opponents. Alas this would initially prove too difficult, as Ion Bartzabel fell under fire.
This small victory was to be short lived for BH-FU, as they found their turrets disrupted, and unable to effectively attack their targets. The Apocalypses were left to fall victim to the vicious assault laid upon them, finally leaving HF the victors with one Damnation, and 7 Stabber Fleet Issues surviving.

Following the match Sashenka, captain for team HF, talked about the reason for the win: “well we hoped they would bring the speedy setup again so we could go toe to toe with some Vagabonds, but they brought a setup that was ideal for us to fight. Yeah, it was a pretty easy win.”

Manifest Destiny. vs Agony Empire

Reported By: ISD Clarity Brown

Agony Empire administered some corporal punishment to Manifest Destiny. in this fast and fierce match, claiming victory in 6 minutes flat.

Manifest Destiny.: 2 Abaddon | 3 Dominix | 2 Griffin
Agony Empire: 4 Golem | 6 Ishkur

Agony Empire set up with their heavy firepower - the Golems - as far back from the front lines as possible, with their Ishkurs clustered between them and the centre of the arena. Manifest Destiny.'s fleet were strung out in the opposite direction, Abaddons in close, Dominixes arranged across the mid- to long range and their Griffins to the rear.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m10-1.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

The match kicked off with a hail of missiles from the Agony Empire Golems reaching across the void to slam the tiny Manifest Destiny. Griffons (flown by bullshoals and AM RFC) right into oblivion.

A quick shift of targets and Dantane of Manifest Destiny. found his Abaddon flying directly into the Golems' cruise missile fire, with a small pack of drones from the Agony Empire Ishkurs descending on him to harass. The Abaddon's armor crumpled and the ship imploded, badly hurting Manifest Destiny's potential damage-dealing, so they were unable to claim a kill before Katosan's Abaddon went the way of its teammate.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m10-4.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

Agony Empire took their first loss at 18:42 when Elodie Legene's Ishkur hull-breached under fire from the Manifest Destiny. sentry drones. Midorisan of Agony Empire then swapped his Ishkur for Lachus' Dominix.

Only Mystic Bull and Soryn Kael of Manifest Destiny. remained on the field at this point, facing 8 of the Agony Empire team. Four minutes into the match, Mystic Bull's Dominix was heavily bleeding armor, and finally gave in.

Soryn Kale fell back to long range, attempting to outrange the missiles from the Agony Empire Golems, but to no avail. After only 6 minutes, Soryn Kael's Dominix was lost, leaving Agony Empire's four Golems (Kelly McShinra, Clique, Feline ferocity and Hachirobei Vincetti) and four surviving Ishkur assault frigates (Mystic Boing, Weeks, Arkole Blake and Fofalus) to claim a decisive victory.

Evoke vs The Fourth District

Reported By: ISD Caiden S'or

Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat, Evoke [EVOKE] advances to the round of 16 in a heart-stopper against a solid Fourth District [4th] team.

Evoke: 5 Dominix | 2 Vigil
The Fourth District: Nighthawk | Drake | 7 Caracal Navy Issue | Caracal

EVOKE started on the beacon, team in a tight formation, while 4th did the same, set away from the center of the arena. In the first minute of the match, two 4th Caracal Navy Issue went down as the first of the five EVOKE Dominix went down. Bouncer II drones that were dropped by the Domi’s could not be used to full affect as the sensor dampeners used by the Caracals prevented them from targeting and assigning targets. An EVOKE Vigil was destroyed for a boundary violation early on as the match clearly showed no advantage to either side.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m11-2.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

5 minutes in, with only 3 Dominix and a lone Vigil remaining, 4th appeared to have the advantage of wear and numbers as the Dominix of Roter Baron dipped low into armor damage. Then, within seconds, two more of the 4th HACs went down as allowing the sensor dampened Domi’s could finally bring the focused damage of the Bouncer II sentry drones to bear. At this point, 4th looked to be in control of the match as they worked on the EVOKE Battleships.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m11-4.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

The tide swung back to the side of EVOKE eight minutes in as their two Dominix battleships and lone Vigil focused on the remaining Nighthawk and Drake for 4th. The Command ship fell as the Drake finished off a badly hurt Dominix and the Vigil piloted by Willington. The match ended as the drake finally fell, leaving only the Dominix piloted by Vaddy GAC as the lone survivor of the match.

After the match, we spoke with the Vigil pilot, Willington, who orbited the 4th Command Ship adding his bit of damage to break the tank. “It was probably a bit [suicidal], but it worked out in the end.” He stated. When asked about the match, he said “...when the fight started, we had huge problems getting locks…we actually thought the match was lost until suddenly 3 caracals fell in a row.” He finished the interview adding that “...being able to turn the match was [a] nice feeling for all of us.”

It was definitely a close match, as this win gives the defending champions the chance to try for a repeat this year.

Electus Matari vs The Star Fraction

Reported By: ISD Aeterna Vitae

The Star Fraction have scored a hard fought victory after a vicious close range engagement with Electus Matari.

The Star Fraction: 9 Stabber Fleet Issue | Claymore
Electus Matari: 6 Stabber Fleet Issue | 2 Ishkur | Damnation | Tempest Fleet Issue

Both teams apparently took to the field with much the same strategy in mind, as clusters of Stabber Fleet Issues faced each other from opposite ends of the arena.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m12-3.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

As soon as the signal sounded, The Star Fraction's stabber line launched across the field with a rebel yell. Electus Matari paused momentarily to deploy a cluster of Warrior IIs and assign their drones targets.

The match then degenerated into a savage fireball of autocannon fire, and both an Electus Matari Ishkur and a Star Fraction Stabber exploded in the first few minutes.

Good co-ordination of drones allowed the Electus Matari team to destroy half of the Star Fraction Stabbers, but evasive manoeuvres and suspected dampening or tracking disrupting impeded the Minmatar alliance's ability to deal damage.

Once Electus Matari's Stabbers had succumbed to the careful manoeuvring of the Star Fraction Team, only the Tempest and Damnation remained for the Minmatar alliance.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m12-1.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

"The enemy manoeuvred well, to their credit. Mainly our damage was negated by losing ships before we could do the same to them." says Electus Matari's Gerrard DuNord.

With time quickly passing by, the remaining Star Fraction Stabbers and Claymore targeted the Tempest. While the Star Fraction team were ultimately able to destroy the battleship, a combination of its smartbomb and defiant tanking from the pilot held them at bay long enough that the Damnation survived the end of the match.

"I'm very glad the match went well, was exciting and difficult against skilled opponents" says Star Fraction's Jade Constantine "a real display of Minmatar fleet tactics and combat engineering"

Against ALL Authorities vs HUN Reloaded

Reported By: ISD Amaari Yolkia

HUN Reloaded (RAX) has been stripped of their chance at the next round by an Against ALL Authorities (-A-) faction cruiser filled fleet.

Against ALL Authorities: 1 Claymore | 9 Stabber Fleet Issue
HUN Reloaded: 5 Nighthawk | 5 Ishkur

The enormous cloud of drones emerging from every vessel signalled the start of the match as the –A- faction cruisers started to manically charge towards their rivals. In response the RAX fleet immediately separated in every conceivable direction, in a manoeuvre that was unsuccessful to save one of their pilots, Letum Omnis.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m13-2.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

The first RAX loss was quickly followed up with three more, as –A- made a concerted attempt to wipe the Ishkurs from the field. Eventually RAX managed to fight back, successfully taking down one of the faction Stabbers which hounded their forces. The change in fortune was clearly something the –A- fleet commander had spotted, as there deadly power was turned towards the five Nighthawks fielded against them.

For a moment it appeared that the decision to switch their targets may have been too late, as Gripen’s Stabber also fell. However, -A- swiftly regained control, as they methodically slaughtered all five of the Nighthawks, until only Krisz Anla’Shok remained. His ship did not last long, as seven Stabber Fleet Issue, a Claymore, and a bevy of drones brought their full force to bear upon him.

Following the match fleet commander DuBEPCAHTKA spoke about why his side won: “Personal skill of my pilots, prefight organization and instructions with well considered setups, hours and hours of training, and years of [combat] side by side.”

Cult of War vs Otherworld Empire Productions

Reported By: ISD Clarity Brown

Cult of War smoothly stole this match from Otherworld Empire Productions

Cult of War: 6 Caracal Navy Issue | Huginn | 2 Sleipnir
Otherworld Empire Productions: 9 Caracal Navy Issue | Claymore

Several tournaments ago, Tyrrax Thork lost one of the only two Imperial Apocalypse battleships outside the Amarr Empire to a Cult of War fleet in a tournament, setting this up to be quite the grudge match.

Cult of War kicked off the rumble by slamming down Aiden Carlyle's Caracal Navy Issue, then Earthworm and Selene Bork's Caracal Navy Issues (Otherworld Empire Productions) popped, though AphroD of Cult of War collapsed under a violent battering from Otherworld's long-range heavy missiles.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m14-1.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

The Otherworld Empire Productions caracals pulled back and swept round, trying to diminish the incoming damage from Cult of War's missiles, with both sides sending in gangs of Warrior IIs to mob their opponent's ships. Lord Peetri of Cult of War and G0liath of Otherworld Empire Productions (both in Caracal Navy Issues) each strayed too close to the enemy's drone packs and went down. Tank CEO of Otherworld was then whacked with a hail of missiles, leaving Cult of War with the upper hand.

Both fleets closed in on each other. Babe Ruthless, flying a Huginn for Cult of War, held herself away from close-range engagements and tied down the Otherworld Caracals with her webs so they could not ablate incoming damage.

Neon Razor (Cult of War, Caracal Navy Issue) got picked off at 20:03, but he was swiftly followed by the massacre of Trevedian, shone and Istvaan Shogaatsu (Otherworld Empire Productions, all in Caracal Navy Issues), leaving one Caracal (Zeraph Dregamon) and one Claymore (NTRabbit) on the field for Otherworld, facing 3 Caracal Navy Issues (Wormik, putukas and Romeo Maltheth), Babe Ruthless's Huginn and the twin Sleipnirs of Kristinsa and Lvirus for Cult of War.

With the Huginn to prevent OEP evading their damage and some very potent DPS still in their pockets, Cult of War used focused missile fire to deal with Zeraph before hitting NTRabbit's Claymore with the full force of their entire team, finishing it off some 6 minutes after the flag dropped to start the match.

In every tournament, there is speculation as to whether the Guiding Hand Social Club - notorious as they are for infiltration, espionage and assassination - are in some way extering an undue influence on the results. A deeply wounded Tyrrax Thork issued this statement to the press regarding such allegations:

"Any such ridiculous accusations that may have been levelled against us are completely unfounded, I assure you! We at the Guiding Hand pride ourselves on our ability to fight the best on a level playing field with great honour and a highly developed sense of fair play!"

The Wrong Alliance vs The Kadeshi

Reported By: ISD Caiden S'or

The Wrong Alliance [ERROR] joins the top sixteen lineup as they defeat The Kadeshi [THOR] in a strong showing as day five of Alliance Tournament VI wraps up.

The Wrong Alliance: Nighthawk | Hurricane | Caracal Navy Issue | Caracal | 6 Stabber Fleet Issue
The Kadeshi: 3 Apocalypse | Myrmidon | Lachesis | 4 Ishkur

In nearly simultaneous explosions, each team lost a ship as an ERROR Caracal Navy Issue and the THOR Lachesis were early targets. Ships fell from each side as Warrior II drones deployed by both teams worked their way through the field. The largest gatherings of the Warrior II and Valyrie II drones deployed by ERROR settled onto the THOR Apocalypse battleships taking each ship out one by one.

Three ERROR Stabber Fleet Issue, a Hurricane piloted by team Captain Conwen, a Nighthawk and a Caracal left the arena under their own power as they finished off the last THOR Apocalypse piloted by Koronos. While the match was won in convincing fashion, did take heavier losses than they had in previous matches.

After the match, we caught up with ERROR team captain, Conwen, and asked him how he felt about this matchup. “We expected an Ishtar setup, to be very honest.” He said, “A four [Battleship] setup was one of the strongest matchups against us.” As they look to tomorrow’s match, he says, “...we can’t sit back and enjoy our victory…the hardest part is yet to come.”

In this next to last match in the round of 32, the teams advancing must get to work as they start to anticipate tomorrow pairings.

Pandemic Legion vs PROBABLE CAUSE

Reported By: ISD Aeterna Vitae

Pandemic Legion have beaten Probable Cause in a convincing showing to further their Tournament campaign.

Pandemic Legion: 5 Caracal Navy Issue | 3 Drakes | 1 Cerberus | Vigil
Probable Cause: 7 Osprey Navy Issue | Drake | Blackbird | Vulture

As both teams took to the field, the question 'But why Navy Ospreys?' could be heard in hushed whispers both on and off the battlefield - Probable Cause having brought the most unconventional setup we've seen so far.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m16-2.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

The match started with both teams apparently moving into each other and exchanging heavy missile fire. Probable Cause then quickly found themselves outgunned by the more heavily armed Pandemic Legion line up.

Ospreys popped left and right, the only cries heard from the Pandemic team appeared to be from WarGod's Vigil as he courageously streaked around the arena evading a string of small drones, painting targets for his teammates as he went.

http://www.eve-ic.net/media/forums/at6/day5/d5m16-3.pngPlease visit your user settings to enable images.

Hampered by EWAR drones, and unable to match Pandemic's firepower, the Probable Cause team were then swept from the field in short order.

When asked about their unconventional setup, Probable Cause team contact badass2k6 outlined the thinking behind it; "our set up was to combat PL ishtars and unfortunately they left them at home"

Pandemic Legion have been unavailable for comment.

"It must be noted that the Hound piloted by NupetietVer was destroyed for a boundary violation, not enemy fire. "

Correction, pilot was new and too busy playing with his spanking new mods to noticed he flew too fast. While avoiding incoming fire and not suffering 1 hit of damage, he could not dodge the Polaris Doomsday mine after being informed 10 times before the match of the boundary.

At least I didn't lose an Ishtar ;)

This is incorrect; they fielded 5 Nighthawks and 5 Ishkurs; I'm correcting the article now. My apologies for the confusion.

I didn't get a chance to watch the matches earlier, and look forward to watching the videos whenever they are available.

However I'm pretty sure privateers weren't allowed 11 ships in their match today... perhaps someone who was able to watch the match or was a member of the privateer team could mention the team make up for us here?

Thank you correspondents, Eve TV commentators and crew, and CCP for all your effort in putting on the alliance tournament and making it available to all of us to enjoy -- in print, in audio, and in video (HD even!)
