for your amusement

i have been skilling up (not playing) for a long time and finally was able to fly an Ishtar.
first thing i tried to do was a level 4 mission. plan being to quickly fly out of danger and use sentries to kill.
well, it had been a while since i had done a mission and i was webbed and exploded before i could react. shouldve checked a mission guide.

so i jump into my domi and finish the mission. i start on the next mission and things are peachy until i get distracted for a minute, realise im in structure and then explode before i can warp out...

i grab a backup domi and bring a friend along. things are going nice and steady. ive been drinking for the last few hours and i start to get careless. not good... i get too much agro to deal with and once again my ship pops :/
in a fit of stupidity i grab my salvager ship to try and recover the wreck, relying on it's high speed to keep me alive. no such luck, it gets destroyed almost instantly.

soo... i buy another domi and fit it out and we both go back in the mission.
we finally finish it and some random guy warps in on our mission and jacks some loot. i knew this was probably a trap but i had seen it plenty of times before and was a bit ****ed off. so i send my drones after him. he takes a bit of damage then takes off.
i decide i better scram as well as he could be back, so i warp out and go to hand the mission in... but wait! i had forgotten i had to loot some item...i weighed up the odds of him still being there and decided to risk it, since it had been about 5 minutes.
i warp back in... no sign of him. i head over to the wreck and suddenly he warps in on me, in some carrier or whatever. he attacks and i quickly realise im screwed yet again. he requests a ransom of 50mil. i pay him but he then kills me anyway! bleh

ok, beat that

When World Collide!~

Lost 3 Ravens in a row :(.

I kept trying to go back and get my loot from the previous loss. So I equaled your idiocy when I was a nub!

Like me, the op is a blithering idiot:

I once lost a Paladin to a highsec level 5 when my corpmate's passive Onyx went from a permatanking 33% shield to 5% shield, to 0% hull in two seconds. I logoffski before anything aggros me, corpmate tells me Paladin's a rapidly expanding vapour. He checks my wreck and all 3 billion worth of my deadspace fittings survived the blast.

"CANCEL THE MISSON DO IT NOW FFS OMG!!!!"

Fifty seconds later, I grab all the loot and salvage my own wreck. You'd think a marauder wreck would drop more than a single logic circuit, but I guess not.

I'm sorry but this thread, added to the fact i've started to fit caldari ships with lasers and armortank(fear the beambird!), makes me feel rather good about my missioning skills Laughing

No reason not to put lasers and an armortank on a Scorpion or lasers on a Raven's two empty highslots.

What would your "no reason" gland say about fitting beams and armor tank on a blackbird? Very Happy

They'd say you need the midslots for ecm anyway and blackbird doesn't have a damage bonus so knock yourself out.

In fact, you need to use plates on a blackbird if you want any kind of survivability at all. And the beams are always a nasty surprise. People continue to ignore tanking EM(on armor at least) despite lazors being frigging awesome. Stacking eanm's doesn't work as well at it used to.

I do mean in mission ships, as this topic was about missions as such.

I don't use a plate, but my hands do need to be pumped with 300 units of caffeine I.V. to counter the amount of button smashing, E CM/REP/AB switching i need to do Laughing

I ran lv2's in a Maller with 2x 1600mm plates and small guns/repper.

But if we're talking about losses, hmm, then I have 2 out of 3 of my Absolution-losses in stupid fashions and/or fits. But the biggest fluke I've done up til today was when I decided to kill a hostiles cyno-kestrel.. in my interdictor.. and died to sentry guns, because it was 0.1 and I for some dumb reason just thought "uhm, hostile, I can shoot it". /facepalm
