Well, i have a decently skilled ammar around 40msp, and i been looking for a trade for somthing new and a minnie char contacted me.

Would it be stupid to trade an amarr char at this point in the game for a minmatar? Are they gimped or is it people just over reacting ?

thoughts?

thanks.

Maybe.

I love flying Minmatar ships, even if they lose 11 times out of 10 in a slugfest. You have more opportunities to display skill as a pilot due to the nature of Minmatar combat.

None of the races are gimped. They just do different things well. Amarr does armor tank and mid ranged gank, minmatar does speed and can have trouble standing toe to toe with enemy ships. Minmatar better suited for solo'ing.

depends on your style. if you're familiar with the 100(+) km beam zealot, there's just nothing tzhat compares to that - especially on the matari side of eve.

if you fly dreads, same thing -.-

but if you do prefer speed, agility and signature, go for the minnie. fly vagabond or scimitar to act as a "heavy" tackler or pick the nuthugger if you like remote repping BS fleets. apart from those two one-and-a-half things, the choice is simple.

Minmitar is a lot of fun. It's just the artillery that's realled gimped, some of the minmitar ships are really good, especially for PvP.

Ships like Rifter (and T2 variants), Rupture (and Broadsword), Vagabond, Hurricane, T2 Cyclone hulls and typhoon are accepted to be generally great ships. I've named these ships out many times now, to show people that Minmitar have a lot to offer. I'd say, that if you're bored with Amarr, go Minmitar. Who knows, with Amarr being FOTM, you'll most likely get a good deal with a higher SP character. ;)

This tbh.
You might regret losing the ability to fly Amarr ships if you trade the character.
Crosstraining also gives you a lot more satisfaction, imho.

Well, that completely depends on what you like to do IG.
If you're often in BS fleet battles or like to fly capitals I wouldn't trade ATM 'cause Minmatar Capitals suck completely and they have no valid fleet BS.
For small gang warfare minmatar is still nice although ship choice is rather limited nowadays. Vagabond still works nice, Sleipnir was nerfed badly but is still a very nice ship, Recons are nerfed, too, etc.

If you like gambling trade though - might be in a few months/years Minmatar gets a boost (it's their turn IMO) and you made a good deal (but in the same time you could prolly crosstrain ;) ).

I fly both races (everything sub-capital except Black Ops & Marauders) and I personally wouldn't do that deal.

Well, ever flewn a MuninnRolling Eyes? And btw I'd take an Eagle over Zealot/Muninn every day.
Although I admit that Muninn is the worst of these three ships 'cause of the gimped DPS/broken Arties. Zealot gets around same range as Muninn but has ~100 DPS more (2 DMG mod setup both), Eagle does around same dmg as Muninn but at 200 km +

speed? they dont even have the fastest intys! only ships of theirs where their speed benefits them enough worth mentioning, is the jaguar, hyena, and vagabond (speed compared to ships in the same class)
fix the intys!!!Evil or Very MadEvil or Very Mad

At the risk of sounding 'completely snowed in' on EVE, but I like them both because they offer two completely different approaches to combat whereas Amarr is more of the heavy shocktrooper that charges into the thick of it while Minmatar happily zips around and harasses classic targets like support ships.

In the end it's about what you like to do, how you prefer playing the game and if you think it is worth it. But, I'll say that Amarr and Minmatar are probably the two races that will benefit the most from each other, like gunnery and armor compensation skills.

I'd say that amarr and gallente offer even more synergy. Armor, gunnery, drones.. Wink

True, but who wants anything in common with Gallenteans?
