New Ship - Cruiser size bomber

Smartbombs have been around for a very long time. At present, they are not commonly (based on kills I have seen) deployed. The reason is that you end up sacrificing a high slot to fit a smartbomb which can only be used under certain circumstances.

With passive tanks becoming more popular, speed tanking (even after the nerf) and rigs that boost resistances it is almost impossible for even a disco ship (one that only has smartbombs fitted) to do any serious damage to its opponents.

I am curios if perhaps cruiser size bombers could fill the gap in this area. They would still fit a cloak, 3 cruiser launchers. I addition they would get bonuses for using smarbombs in terms of fitting and cap use as well as warp core strength of 2.

Please keep in mind of the following:
· This ship will not be able to take out a battleship or even a bottle cruiser by its self. Most cruisers will only have 6 slots, which will only let it do maximum of 1800 damage per cycle with T2 smarbombs. Even interceptors will service the first and most likely second cycle.
· This is blob busting device that will most likely cause pilot to sacrifice them self. Sure, having fast and agile cruiser comparative to BS is fantastic. But lets face it, it will not be ‘I win’ button any more then bombs are right now.

Cruiser sized stealth bomber = nice idea. I personally would drop the smartbombing bit though.

No, this is a ship that provides bonuses for gatebombing as well as being really hard to scramble. Not to mention you want it to be cloaking and use cruise missiles.

Why not give it twin Citadel launchers? That way in order for it to be effective, it'd have to be close in or have heavy tackles.

Actually, they'd be about on par. The unsieged damage of two faction Rift torpedoes (using an Onyx as a base) is a 6415 alpha with a 36 second duration. These would be hit and run ships. A T2 invention-only cruiser also wouldn't be prudent to use in high-sec freighter ganks, either. These could also be used in high-sec tower clearing under protection of a wardec.

If you gave the hull a 100% reduction in fire time at Level V (20 per level), no damage bonus to the torpedoes, and a fixed velocity bonus on the hull...

i seriusly hope you mean -100% targeting delay after decloaking, and not to reduce rof to 0

Yeah, mistyped - I meant to originally type like 50% reduction of firing time at Level V - not like it would matter - this ship would most likely be used for hit and run and 50% off 36 seconds and change isn't going to help.

This bomber would have bonuses applied to smarbombs. So it could fit 5/6/7 large smartbombs. It will not replace the smaller version bomber as it is slower in speed, scan and scan res.

You are correct. If we simply made the current bomber the abilities I suggested it would just be crazy. But this is not the case. For example, it will not have damage bonus to cruiser missile but it will be able to fit them.
