1) Must have an active account
2) Log on to Eve-o account
3) Select Skills (or whatever you want to call it)
4) Change Skill
5) Go back to work.

Limit the number of changes per day/week/whatever

No que and no missing out on lost training time because of school, work, or because your wife dragged to some god awful place.

Too right!

Maybe even add a skill to the game that means having to train

"Remote Learning" Allows your char to change a skill using the website withought having to open the game client. 1 change can be made for each level of skill (between login's of the game) so say you log in before work and have he skill to lvl 1 while at work you can access the website and change your skills once before you get home... Having lvl 2 would mean you can change your skill 2wice before you get home.. and so on

(the only problem I couldsee would be people who grow chars for comercial gain, would now be able to do it better, not even having to open the client to change skill could mean people getting lazy and hybernating there char for months while the wait for the next update never having to even login)

Remember that the only reason a skill queue isn't being implemented is because CCP wants people to log on and play. You idea while good can't be implemented because of the same reason. If we get one, we should get both.

@xVx dreadnaught - No more mandatory skills just to train skills FFS. Skills take years to train as it is, we don't need any more timesinks. We also have people farming characters now and frankly I put my own convenience before the need to use a poor skill system just to spite some farmer a little.

Yeah but the farmers would just strive if they could setup a script to change it on the website... if you don't want a skill to limit it the only thing I could think would just be having a standard limit of maybe 1-2 changes a day from the website

CCP argument of wanting people to log in and "play" the game doesn't hold any weight. I often times log in only to change a skill and that's it.

Personally, I think CCP wants people to log in so they show the statistics of daily "players" to investors. It would show that the company's active player base is stable.

To address the issue of using a script to log on to the web site and change skills automatically. Scripts can already be used to log on to the eve client and change skills. It might be a little tricky to set up, but it can be done.

I do however like the idea of limiting how many times per day you can change skills via the web.

The issue of game log ins going to there investors, They could then just show a log of howmany people log in via the site/site hits and all that guff. I aint sure cos its been years since i payed any attenion but i remembered the forums and game being hosted on the same servers... you coul tell if it was the server down because the website wouldnt load either. and yes im sure bots and scripts are being used to log in the chars. but the log in through client needs more time and memory to do. How many game clients can you run at once. I used to run 2 stable no problem. But I can run 20web pages EASY imagine the farmers running 20-30 pages all logging in and changing skills... would be a nightmare. another alternative to the limit of how many times a day would be it costing isk, 1,000isk then X10 each time after that, so 10,000 ten 100,000 and so on

No.

The reason why we do not have web-based skill changes is because it would make it too plausible to create programs to 'farm' characters. This would eliminate any and all interaction with the game.

adding a charge is a good idea but that would stop the honest people from using it. So far, I think your idea of limiting the number of skill changes per day is a good idea. Maybe say to like one or two per day.

Maybe even only allow 1 toon to change as well

Thats the other reason for me suggesting a limit/taxation on using the web based system. so that people could still change skills from work and school but it would be limited or cost them and so encourage them to still log in. truth is i can work for months at a time with little or no time atol to myself. Why should my character suffer because I don't have the free time to keep him training? I can easily access the internet at work but not always a system that supports the eve client... so this would work for me. making maybe 1 or 2 changes a day/week in between the periods of activity that I can do real things in the game.

I really like this idea and try to support it whenever it is suggested (often). I myself am unable to log into the eve cluster at the moment as a result of a burglary and either I lose training time or violate the EULA by allowing someone else access to my account.

Web based skill change please.

We really needed another thread about this, to further dicuss something that has already been suggested once a week for the last 5 years.

Funny, I suggested this a few weeks back and was told that CCP once had this in operation and they removed it due to *ahem* "security issues".
