The question is, would this be preferable to my Oveur vomit idea? |

I'd prefer vomit over losing 3 years of skills. |

Come on man. This is a forum. To dicuss opinions and ideas no matter how stupid. This is how good ideas get filtered from stupid ones. As I said mine might be stupid. I was not in any way trying to impose anything on anybody. I did not post CCP PLS CHANGE DEATH. |

Death means nothing to YOU!!! Yes YOU f*ing multiaccount a tons of hours to play!
I only got 1 character and 1 hour or 2 to play, sometime i only play a couple of hour in a whole week!!
So death is a real pain for me, when i loose a Battleship it's so hard to recover. So.. if you got too much money too waste... give me some and i'll help you being more happy in your way to poorness! |

And now we know why the forum is awful. Good ideas get filtered from stupid ones because the smart people are intelligent enough not to post. |

My topic was about losing your pod not your ship. Pls do not get verbose and make assumptions about the number of accounts I have or how much time I spend on this GAME. |

I remember talk of an MMO that was going to do this a while ago. Can't remember the name but it was a interesting idea. Granted training times in that game were going to be rather short to balance it. |

Why not just implement this yourself by biomassing your character after every second death in a 24 hour period? |

Originally by: Alt MKII Assuming your clone is up to date, death (getting podded) is a financial setback alone (lost ship, implants, time). Right?
Why? Should a life only have just an isk price? I think death should be feared by new and old player alike regardless of your wallet size. Especially by an old player who should know how to pick his fights and enemies.
A life should not be that cheap to throw away and risk it. My suggestion is this: a character should only be allowed to die only once in 24 hours - similar to the jump clone formula. If he dies a second time within 24 hours he loses ALL training in progress. If he dies a third time he loses 5% of his total skill points. 4th an other 10% (total 15%) and so on. All that regardless of your clone status and related penalties which should stack.
Lets say that your consciousness needs time or a full night's sleep to settle in a new body otherwise it progressively gets more corrupted and memory loss occurs. Make Eve more harsh and darker. I am also sure that people will start thinking twice about doing stupid stuff (yours truly included).
Some will argue that such a change will encourage turtling/carebearing . I beg to differ. I think it will discourage grievers and maybe thus encourage some to venture a little bit further from their comfort zone.
Maybe this is just a stupid thought but I would like to see Eve evolve to place where the consequences of your actions have a greater weight.
CCP is not going to install any mechanic that says you cant play for X amount of time because another player killed you. That would cause so many canceled subscriptions in the first day that it would be removed before 24 hours had passed. |

Originally by: Tobias Sjodin Would it make EVE more fun to remove skillpoints from players? Or would the consequence be that people stopped taking risks, leading to more and more stalemates and people rather staying docked or logging off etc. to avoid combat alltogether.
It is already a tedium to train skills, if you actually lost them while playing - it would suck a lot of fun out of the game and not result in a "darker" EVE, more like an EVE where people were even more bored on average than they are now due to several other game-mechanisms that only are there to make the gameplay tedious.
I am afraid this would be the result so no let the system stay as it currently is. |

Every time you die Eve removes a random Windows system file. They already have the code in place it should be a simple change. |

No. The horse is still moving although it is now generally a simple twitch and we can assume rather safely from the amount of blood and the way that leg bends the wrong way that it will be dead soon, but it isn't quite dead yet. |

I was going to write a lengthy post about why the OP is a bad idea, but this sums it up quite well.

If it's not harsh enough for you now why don't you just stop updating your clone. Everyone is happy then. |

BTW and to close this for good the below argument was the most valid of all and showed the skewed perspective of my idea. Originally by: Solar Chase Death in EVE means exactly what it should: loss of man-hours. ISK always requires real time investment, while skillpoints do not. In other games, when you lose a level after death, you also lose man-hours. It's all fair.
Some of the replies made the same mistake I did in regards to playstyle. They were thinking of how my idea would affect THEIR style of play. Lesson learned, for my part anyway. |

Op has obviously never accidentally upgraded to the wrong clone, then been podded.
I can tell you from experience, losing a week off of your highest skill and being unable to use the tree of t2 mods that require it in their skill tree is not fun.
Losing implants is enough. Period. |

Completely breaks the cannon, the whole reason pod pilots are around, doing what theyre doing is because death is just a bank transaction to them. my ship blows up? sucks to be the crew, i get dd'd to hell my worst case scenario is that the cloning nurse has more facial hair than me. mass murder without consequence is why your there. |

I agree with the OP but think that skills that you don't use each session of game play should go back down a level. So if I didn't make use of Large Auto Cannon Specialization the last time I played it would be back to IV. This should make the game much more fun and it will make everyone grieve equally. |

'station spinnaz' is a serious problem even with all the lack of risk in PVP these days. As it stands, I already log off for 24 hours or so anyway once I get podded. Once a day is good enough for me most days. Losing Implants is already a good enough reason to not get podded. Even a set of +3's are expensive to lose in a needless combat pod loss. (hell, +2's get me mad somedays too!) I'd much rather throw the 10 mil into a rack of T2 blasters... |

that's a terrible idea... worst of part of trainings is the first part where player is stuck up with learning trainings while player is a n00b [no offense]. It is also the time when a players die the most. Therefore his skill trainings will never end. New players will keep getting podded as they wouldn't know what to do much in the beginnings of the game, so they will keep losing skill points. Air go; they will get bored of training and training then losing skillpoints and quit the game, meanwhile, CCP losing money in the end :) |
