I too would apreciate a male char if I ever actually took a break from cracking eggs for their goo. Then again, I'll have to quit eve before ambulation for 2 years, so by the time I come back this will all have been rendered moot, and we'll be fighing the Jove on their homeworlds, and fleets will consist of blobs of Titans... *sigh* |

EVE is all about taking the sometimes-harsh results of your actions, not asking the Dev team to fix your mistakes.
If you chose a female character, but don't want to play or be treated as a female, that's your error, and you have to live with it the same way a pilot who goes afk and comes back to find their Titan scap metal does.
Your mistake, not the Devs. Either accept what you chose, or start over with a new character.

Would it be acceptable if you could only do this once after WiS is released, for a fee even?
We never wanted to go down this road because itīs immersion breaking, people can hide their history (usually a bad history) and itīs a huge hassle for us because it probably has to be done manually for each avatar.
On the other hand it seems to be the number 1 request of people desperately wanting to change sexes when WiS hits so itīs something at least Iīll keep in mind.

Obviously I can't speak for everyone here, but I'll enjoy recreating my female character (being male myself) and will accept her treatment as a result. My corpies know who and what I am, which atleast to me, is the most important. All my Avatar is, is a way of interacting with the game, she happens to be female. No big deal in my opinion. If I end up getting chatted up by a lot by hopeful blokes looking to score then they're in for a shock. That's basically just PvP in another form.  |

I think it's part trolling part the fact, that what your character looked like didn't matter when most current players made their characters. Choices you made should matter and I think most will be content with the gender they chose. If they really want to play dressup with the opposite gender, they can make alts like everyone else. |

Its unfortunate that CCP might accomodate this. If you guys do this, make sure its not the $10.00 portrait change fee. A change like this should bite, and bite hard. Minimum $75-100. |

Definitely! We should be given the chance to change sex,name after ambulation. Even if it can only happen once and with a fee. It would be better if it could happen more than 1 time, maybe every 5-6 months with a fee of course but still once after WiS is better than nothing. Originally by: CCP Eris Discordia

Eris, would it be possible to add a line in the character sheet. Formaly Known as: "name here" So that changing isn't about hidding your history but actually about creating a character you feel comfortable walking and talking with. I also think it should be a one time only. |

Name changes would be over the top in my opinion. Would be way too easy to escape from ones history by hiding behind some other name. Gender changes - well - as long as it's expensive enough and limited timeframe relatively expensive offer. |

Eris, if i did want to change my sexy hiney to something else, i'd suggest a 10 fee or some such to discourage "easy changes". People should REALLY want to change in that case and wouldn't just pay 10 to see a female hiney. *thinks* Nevermind... Though i am tempted to re-create An Eris v1.1 to get my dang poster |

I don't care about people changing their pictures/avatars or any other cosmetic change, but their name has to stay the same. A character's name has a special significance in Eve due to the unsharded nature in the system. If you do something bad, you can't just realm transfer and start over with a clean slate. I can already see the legions of corp thieves applying to change their gender/name just so they can get away from their past. This would be acceptable ONLY if there was a permanent link in their bio to their old character profile so a CEO thinking about taking them on can get a true sense of who he's hiring. |

Thanks for the dev reply, Yes i wouldn't mind this being a one off, and i don't mind if you block the name and only allow the sex change, Should you allow a name change, i wouldn't know what to pick tbh. You haven't mentioned what will happen to your corp history should there be a name change. |

Eris, isn't everybody going to be forced to redo their avatar once WiS hits anyway? That's how I've understood it. Just let people start from the gender selection instead of having it default to their current sex. Changing names and so is out of the question tho. If you give scammers, corp thiefs and other people the ability to change their name, all hell will break loose here, promise. I'll light the first fires myself  |

I would also like a one-time name change as well.
Mainly because when I first started playing back in '04, I had some trouble with the graphics engine while playing on my laptop: none of the text was legible, it was all a blurry mess. I couldn't read any of the instructions during character creation, and was only able to figure out how to fix the problem after creating a character and talking with people in the help channel.
I then found out that my choices in character creation were crap, and I pretty much needed to start over. But, I couldn't use the name from my original character until 10 hours after I pressed the "delete" button, and I wanted to start playing NOW. So I made another character, with a crappy-ass name.
Unfortunately, the first character was the one whose name I gave thought to, and wanted to be known as. I thought I could just change the name of my crappy-name character later. I couldn't. And it sucks.
All I want is to be Grey Point in-game. :( |

Ad much as I would like to fix things about my characters name, I say no. I mean, who knows what kind of person/character you're getting in your corp. It could be a GOON for god's sake. |
