Hmm, ok so finally CCP gets it right and we can have fleet fights with 500+ and its fun and not too laggy.
Great, good job.

It's laggy enough to be annoying, tbh

Also, I agree that something should be done with bigger gang = better gang, but I imagine that someone's going to get annoyed that you can't just call primaries and expect explosions anymore

Actually, in most cases lately, except for any GRAPHICAL LAG issues, it really hasn't been.

Comes and goes, really. It's definitely better than it used to be, but being ongrid and unable to get your modules activating is only one tiny step above not loading grid and just exploding before you can see anything

Which partictular fight where you in where 500 people managed to fight with no lag ? I havent played eve for a while now, but in the last few weeks i did play it was every fight with more than 250 in system. Frozen screen, fails to load ,hours later im in a pod or worse a clone. The petition lies eventually annoyed me to the point where the game ceased to be fun, I might as well have just been fitting my ships and then giving them away to noobs for free, i would have enjoyed it more. But when i do occasionally log in these days and there is a fight going on all i see is people saying "my client wont load","whats happening in XXX system? i cant see" and "help i cant log in" So yeah what fight did you have with no lag ?

We need smarter nodes. Reinforcing nodes obviously helps alot, as seen in E-O, but unexpected fights like in Obe goes hard on the server (even tho node won't crash with 1k+ in system).

Instead of stackless IO we might want nodesmart AI. Twisted Evil

..ok, that was a horrible joke, even coming from me. YARRRR!!

There is a limit to how intelligent stackless Gerbils can become, now, if they switched to Octupi...

Look around, you'll find mention of a few in CAOD, and a few other places.

Systems hold up under the weight of 1000+, 3-400 are fine, the strain from 600 or so is still totally workable.

And just yesterday I was a jump from Jita with not even a hint of lag. Read one of more recent dev blogs about the cluster-Jita has it's own dedicated blade that's more powerful than the old ones. They've also got several identical ones to Jita they assign to systems likely to experience heavy fighting at the daily DT now.

I have to say i have recently had no lag problems whatso ever on eve and that includes some time spent getting stuff in Jita during the gaes peak time on a weekend... personally i thought the lag stuff was a thing of the past, perhaps some people should stop using dialup Laughing

No but seriously laq havent had any lag issues as of late perhaps the people htat are experiencingit might consider that the problem is on thier end?

Grath cmon be honest, hold up with 1000? you mean the node managed not to boot everybody and roll back 5 mins right? which is pretty miraculous i have to admit.

a quote from caod

Quote:
Large cap battle follows - still going - many still havent loaded grid after original jumping, many crashed and relogged and crashed etc. Huge lag, stackless i/o failing, local apparently peaked over 1000.

I can imagine just how well it held up...

The fight I remember, was in M-0EE8, and I had virtually no lag. And judging by what was being said, it was about 50/50, some people had it, but equally as many people were doing perfectly fine. Then, the node "missed its heartbeat" as was said in that dev blog. And when it came back up it was back to what it was before, which was around 1250 or so.

But, I experienced no significant lag before the crash.
