The financial crisis has shown how intertwined and globalised the world now is. Apart from the usual flashpoints, I don't think anyone will go to war over it. We're all in it together and we'll all have to get out of it together. I think a few governments are going to fall in the medium term though, especially when the recession really kicks in.

The cold war is over, And it was more about the arms/resources race than the fighting, thats why it was called teh cold war.
If the same occurs another name needs to come up on the agenda.
Like the penny war or something :P

If there's a war coming it sure won't last long. Once you run out of ammunition, who is going to sell you more of it when you can't pay with money. A gun without ammo is just a awkward club or blade on a pole at best.

Do you have any idea how offensive your post is? 258 British servicemen died in the Falklands war campaign and 777 were injured.

If there will be wars, it might be time for the troops to realize it might be a better idea to turn around and go for their own according governments instead of going for the other armed guys.

You rarely see rich and influental people in the trenches...

And you killed 649. Always makes me wonder when USA is talking about all the brave soldiers they lost in Iraq, a mere 4500(well 4200 from USA) vs the 1.2M they have killed. Any life lost is a bad thing, but the 'winner' tends to forget the number the 'looser' lost.
His sentence is hardly more offensive towards UK than yours is towards Argentina.

I was offensive towards Argentines? What the hell? and the US soldiers in Iraq are just doing their job. The American people have every right to honour their memory the way they do.

Yeah, I always think it's funny when the USA announce how they lost x soldiers in Iraq and then you get some official comment how horrible this is and yadda yadda blabla...

And the death toll of the locals is a LOT higher, and nobody seems to care.

Isn't that a bit like vietnam all over again, only on a different map? I don't know, I'm too young.

What are you talking about exactly? We were hardly humiliated . . . a British warfleet, dogged with logistical problems [i.e. 1 Chinook in the whole operation after the cargo carrier was sunk], losing several ships, still managed to retake the island, performing the first hostile action by a nuclear submarine ever and crushing the Argentinians so badly that we basically forced a regime change.

Also, 258 British service personnel died in the Falklands, I'd appreciate it if you showed them respect. They died on British crown territory, defending the freedom and sovereignty of the islands from the Argentinians.

Anyway, all your Iceland are belong to us YARRRR!!

this is the difference between a professionaly trained and reasonably well equiped army as opposed to a bunch of conscripts who didnt want to go in the first place and were poorly equipt as in the case of the falklands conflict . the argentinan junta as it was called then tried to distract the populace from their ecenomic woes by invading a sovriergn nation . and we grabbed it back.... do your history about the falklands before you post such gibberish .you obviously need a clue and i can provide you if you need it . Rolling Eyes

How so?

British forces took on a well fortified enemy with superior air power and manpower alone and won a clear victory. The price we had to pay was heavy but the Argentines lost twice as much and learned that Great Britain is not called such for no reason.

We might not have the Empire any more but we do still have the best armed forces on the planet.
