Recently i have found that going into 0.0 in an assault frig for ninja ratting is a realy effective way of making isk and with the prospect of finding a nice spawn at the same time. The speed of AF's allow me to escape most gate camps (bubbled gates with the addition of a cloak) and the natural abilities of AF's means it can take down any spawn (albiet slowly).

I recently got all the supporting skills for my first HAC. I have chosen the Deimos. There are two reasons for this

1) The natural speed of the Deimos will be very handy againts camps and help evade unwanted visitors in the system of choice.
2) The Deimos is far better for ninja ratting (looking at stock abilities and figures) than the Ishtar. Speed and DPS is far better int he Deimos than the Ishtar (mainly as the Ishtar relies heavily on drones for DPS whereas the Deimos is a speedy blaster platform.

I am currently using a Blarpy for my ratting, it works well, so i thought i would move this philosiphy to somthing slighty bigger. Faster kills means more isk.

Set-up however as somthing i am lacking in ideas for?

any help would be appreicated.

PS this will not be a speed tank. Its designed to get up close and web. then orbit normally. please advise?

Using drones on an ishtar would be far more efficeint than a deimos imo, u can sit outside rat engagement range/speed tank them, and u dont have to worry about ammo..

I considered this. However i tend to stay in 0.0 area for a few days (inbetween logoffs) is somone dropps into the belt i wont have time to recall my drones. and then disapears a large amount of firepower. Thanks for the reply though :)

With the isthar you can fly around with an pvp fit and still kill npc with drones.
And you have an reasonable large drone bay so you actually can 'afford' to loose some drones. (depends on HAC skill ofc)

HAC at 4. and yea i could. However i like piece of mind. I aint a solo pvper. I pvp in fleets but thats about it. I would prefere to run and hid than fight. especially when i its my first HAC and i am yet to find my feet. Call me carebear, but until i am confidant with it, i wont be engaging anyone.

For this reason, i will loose many drones to running and hiding.

i've used both, and although the deimos is a bit faster, better dps etc, the ishtar is really the way to go. Especially if you are ninja ratting.

First off ishtar uses no ammo. If you look after your drones you can rat indefinately, for months at a time, without ever needing to resupply wheras a deimos will chew through alot of ammo. Ishtar has alot of utility highslots for tractors/salvagers and has a better tank than a standard fit [w/ damage mods] deimos. And ofc if you're ratting Gurista's, you never need to worry about getting jammed as the drones will keep slogging away.

I think you might have swing me actually. That Deimos set-up doesn't look half as mean as i imadgened in my head (bearing in mind i am currently at work and i am unable to view PG etc).

Still, anymore set-ups recomended?

deimos works for rating but isnt the gratest ship, low range with blasters, huge ammo usage.. ishtar is the way to go! get some sentry drones and you can pick of the rats from 100km if you want and can pick up the drones instantly if you need to run.. it has many spare highs for cloak, salvager, remote rep for drone damage... easy to permarun 1 or even 2 medium reps or you can nano it :P

Make sure you use sentries (them = god) as if you do get dropped in a belt, you can at least recall them quickly and run, provided you go with a tanking setup as opposed to a nano one.
