Numbers like that "shock even the gamers," although Steinkuehler points out that gamers who post in forums do not represent the average "WoW" player. A majority of players probably just read the forums and don't participate in the more sophisticated online discussions. However, the high level of thinking represented in the forums still confounds expectations that most online chatter represents lowbrow mom jokes and gossip. The question for researchers becomes how to translate observations about online worlds into real-world results that impact the lives of students. "What I'm deeply invested in is reinvigorating their intellectual life," Steinkuehler told LiveScience. "I want kids to understand that games are intellectual and about problem solving, not that different from what scientists are doing in the real world."

WOW players are clever, Same as there are stupid ones too.
Remind your self that there is a lots of clever people out there without funding to use their intelligence in the real world. Or simply predatory skills that are getting used in game instead of real life.
I never played wow, but i have friends who do. And they re clever enough.
Same can be said to eve. only eve has a higher percentage of adults and professionals.

wow forums are the worst mmo game forums.
But i see a strange connection between wow forums and even these forums.
On the internet, most forums have built up a decent level of trollsense. But wow forums, like these forums, fail at detecting trolls. Things that are trolls they take seriously, things that are serious they take as trolls.
Its horribly painful to watch. |

our forum conversations are probably the most intelligent because eve attracts only certain people and those people have an idea or know a lot about whats happening. basically what i mean to say is that there are a lot more older people who play eve then wow. |

They blast the same info at you over and over and over again and eventually the people who watch Fox News start to believe it without question. No, I'm simply saying that all the major news media outlets are complete ****. They are all biased and spin/select news to a ridiculous degree. I am merely pointing out the hilarity of the fox bashing- you don't see anyone bashing outher outlets because they fall in-line with people's views. It's kind of sad that an article that had NOTHING to do with fox (they were simply reporting it, you could probably find the article elsewhere) somehow turned into a fox discussion. |
