I like:
Trivium (first 2 albums only, rest is ****)
Arctic monkeys (both album top quality)
Johnny cash
The hoosiers
the smiths (morrisey ftw)
+ MGMT (new guys onto the block and their songs are amazing)
I hate:
The feeling (aww god wann wretch when i hear their ****)
Scouting for girls (all their songs are repetive, g*y, and they all sound the same)
radiohead

Nope didn't much care that to be honest. Wasn't bad, just not to my liking. And my dislike of rap isn't fully without explanation, I don't like current rap....or I never left the early 90's (view it how you like) If it's true old school then I'm all for it, but this (c)rap they have now is complete and utter ****. Few of my favorites: Funky cold medinabust a movewalk this way |

Totally agree with that and most rap falls into my hated list above. EDIT: I apologize for calling you out, but I have a hard time swallowing blanket statements like "I hate rap", especially when your response said you do like some rap. This is a statement, "I hate rap", that I hear a lot and I confront all with the same fervor. The reaction comes from where I live, past beliefs, and knee jerk reactions and I, once again, apologize for that. Also my top listed artist is there for opening my eyes with the first real rap/metal crossover Bring the Noise. Slade |

That song is awesome. But I've gotta agree with you. I like the classics of rap, Run DMC, NWA, Public Enemy, Beasties, and especially Old Skool, but what passes for rap nowadays really is crap. It's almost all the same, and little has any of the social message that defined the style. Now it's about bling and *****es. There's not even the harsh violence and death of life in an impoverished neighborhood anymore, it's all about how cool you are, and how different you are from your old friends, who must suck, because they don't have the bling you do. Plus it's almost all the same, even more than Rock music. I remember going into a music store, not a mega-chain, about 10 years ago, and they had a bunch of posters of different rappers up on the walls. They all had the SAME style of clothing. I almost couldn't tell them apart. It's just stupid that they not only sound alike, but dress alike. |

Well for starters they usually don't sing about slappin da *****es and gunnin down the homies while being eternally trapped in the hellhole that is the projects because they aint got the brains to grab a book. Plus I'm not into the whole lowering my car and ripping out the undercarriage fad. Give me a pair of wides in the rear and a blower any day. Now as for metal I'm more classic rock, 70's and 80's, Aerosmith and AC/DC type stuff. Speedmetal, deathmetal, or whatever metal generally just sounds like noise to me. I can take punk though and have quite a few Misfits cd's laying around along with an autograph from Jerry Only. Plus it looks weird seeing a guy in a cowboy hat listening to (c)rap Edit: Not that I don't occasionally put my 2 12's to work every now n then. |
