Star system player limit deployed to Tranquility reported by: CCP Wrangler | 2008.09.21 13:38:10
During the downtime today, Sunday 21st September, we deployed a new feature to Tranquility. The Stargate will now check how many players there are in the system and deny access if you attempt to jump into it when too many players are present. In addition to this you will not be able to login on a character if the system has too many players. We have also increased the amount of GMs this evening and if you are unable to login, please press the ESC button and submit a petition in the Stuck category.
This is a temporary solution to this issue, we are working on a permanent feature which has the highest priority and will be implemented as soon as possible.Discuss..  |

Well, no word about Jita in what is wrote (it is said "tranquility" not "Jita").. A clarification from DEV/GM 'ld be good. |

Even if it`s Jita only for now  , don`t you think it will be comming "standart" if some clueless GM´s decide it works super duper smooth in Jita, so it must be super duper smooth for NOL/AZN/VFK/IMK etc. too ? |

Stop adding new features to the game you have, until you have fixed the basic flaw with stupendous lags and loadtimes in heavily loaded systems.
4 years ago, we had BETTER loadtimes, LESS lag when doing 100vs100 then we have today. We have ghostships, ships loading in limbo, invisible ships etc. We have desyncs making it impossible to see where your ship REALLY is.
We all love this game, and play it because we do love it, but seriously, this is getting old.
Personally, i could care less about getting my character legs, when im not able to get him to do what he is supposed to properly.
So for the love of the game, STOP adding ANYTHING new, until you have fixed the flaws that are there. Redirect ALL resources to get this baby to run as it should. Heck, get the marketing people inte playing and testing, get the accountants to verify bugs, get the artists to test and check loadtimes, get the flipping postman to go to Jita on a sunday afternoon.
And this fix, however temporary it is, is horrendously wrong for a multitude of reasons i wont even touch upon.

So I take it that whenever this automatic system gets put into place, a GM gets paged and a GM enforced cease-fire will be put in place in the system, am I right?

CCP, this is one case when the remedy is worse than the dicease. Just pack 400 peeps in a system and you're sure to protect that pos coming out of reinforced.
Honestly, even as a temporary thing, I tought you were smart enough to avoid this. At least extreme lag doesn't favor one side as much as this will... |

@CCP : 300 peeps in sytem A / 300 in system B ready to jump in system A. FC in system B (with balls !  ) gogogogo jump in A ! 100 "lucky" peeps jump in A and suddendly gate close all jump.. Guess what happens to 100 luckiest which could jump ?? Atm i don't see how fleets could fight each others...  |

If anything, this temporary fix probebly makes things worse and encorages people to log in alts, noob chars etc to lag or block out the opponent. People in systems would go on long term afk rather than logging off as a player logged in is a enemy that cannot enter.
A Cynojammer blocks dreads hotdroping on you, though you can at least shoot the jammer down. I guess the new tactic will become the peoplejammer, something which you cannot do anything about, and allows the peoplejammer side to operate without fear of hotdrops or even conventional ships jumping in. |
