I'm very sorry that my only posts here are complaints, but:

It's not acceptable you guys don't include improvements / fixes in patch notes in a section on the non-Windows clients.

Also, we were promised premium graphics a quarter or two ago. Guys?

There was a promise of stronger and more timely feedback on the Mac client, and that hasn't *really* materialized.

I hope the stability fixes haven't retrograded, I've been playing since the last patch successfully with only several daily serious crashes as opposed to sem-minute.

The Mac client is essentially just the standard Eve client wrapped in Cedega. I seriously doubt there is a single improvement in this patch that is specifically targeted at or related to the OSX client - hence all patch notes apply across the board.

Unless there are changes to cedega itself that improve reliability . . . which I sincerely doubt.

Yep, no non-windows client issues are sorted in this patch. Same goes for the last patch...

The premium...patch/client/wrap...or whatever it turns out to be (or perhaps just the blog) is in the works (so we have been told). In the meantime...just keep on mailing them those crashmails. When they get enough of that spam they might actually speed things up.

Well, you cannot omit that CCP Casqade has stepped up the feedback since the 'next week dev-blog , I is writing it now' mishap.

But its a bit pointless to expect him, or any other CCP dev, to reply to threads like this one, since its already answered with a 'when we know more you'll know more' reply.

Right?Neutral

Well the first thing in customer care (it doesn't matter what type) is that you will ALWAYS answer the same question millions of times. Also variations of the same question. One can't believe that one answer will reach every single person that's seeking help from the customer care. Yes, they have to repeat the same "when we know more, you know more" mantra all over again. It's not like you can answer the phone and say "next monday!" then another person calls "I TOLD THE LAST CALLER!! GO ASK HIM!" it doesn't work like that. Thus with the boards being as *cough* good as they are...who can blame them.

With customer care it's not so much about the info, it's how you release it. You can have satisfied customers even when you tell them nothing. The thing is that YOU tell them there is nothing to tell. Shutting up will just upset the people and they will get annoyed (we have seen that..).

Yes, they have to answer the same bloody question as long as people ask it or they have something else to answer. Every time they don't...a panda dies.

Well, they have other things to tend to as well and, you've been on the forums for a while, so you should know by now, they don't (keep) repeat(ing) themselves often.

I know that the client is not free from bugs, but most issues at the moment are problems with drivers. There are crashes still happening and we are trying to track them down. While we are doing that we are also putting a lot of effort into getting the Premium client out and ready. If you are experiencing bugs and things that needs to be improved, please send us a bug report and we'll look into it.

We said that we were aiming for a quarter one 2008 release. We missed that date and for that we are truly sorry. Explanation and more information about that will come in a dev blog, which will arrive when it has been processed and done.

I'd like to believe that I actually pay a lot of attention to this forum, listen to your concerns, help out where I can and such. If you compare the response ratio to threads on this forum to any other forum, I'm sure that the statistics will agree with me here. However, as I see it what you are suffering from is an uncertainty of what the future holds and what you can expect out of the client the coming 1-3-6-9-12 months. This is something that we wish to improve on.

If you are experiencing issues with the client, please send us a bug report. They are a great help for us to track down crashes and other issues you are encountering using the client.

Dr Sheepbringer, you can help out and spread the word to those who are asking the questions you have already asked and had me answer. That is in a way the idea of having a forum, where members of the community can help other members of the community.

Thanks for the answer Casqade.

I am trying to inform the userbase (here and in ingame), but majority (as in any forums) don't use search, nor even look at the old threads. Plus there is always those that want the info straight from the horses mouth (sheep won't do).

I am sorry. But personally I am tired of sending bug reports only to be told by the people that I need to run a windows diagnostics application and send reports with information from that application even when I specifically mention and emphasize that I am on a Mac OS X and NOT windows. All my bug reports are then closed and any reply I do to mention that to them dont get paid attention to anymore…how am I going to care about taking the time to put bug posts if 99% of my bug reports get such treatment? Instead of taking the time to form a bug post, my problems would be resolved by restarting my computer or client vs. spending my time taking pictures, videos and just get a "you need to read these instructions" …and it's all windows instructions Crying or Very sad

It happens from time to time that they get filtered by the wrong person, the mac specific bug reports should be filtered by mac specific bug hunters. Can you please supply me with the IDs of those bug reports.

When I go check my petitions, none of the previous ones exist at all now… we're they cleaned out?

This is where your bug reports should be. Petitions and bug reports are not the same.

Sorry if this comes across as a bit of a rant but ...

What is the point of reporting bugs if they don't get fixed ? I've got 8 bugs listed as attached to defect that start back as far as March. I know 2 of them have been fixed (The same bug but for Windows and Mac), the loss of FPS after Trinity 1.1, but they are not marked as fixed, and I know 2 of them are supposedly due to nVidia driver problems on the Mac, but that still leaves 4 bugs.

Bug 61501 is a website design problem - that was reported over a week ago.
Bug 55741 is a missing file called affilliate.plist, which I've been told is "OK" since the file is not supposed to be there - In which case why does the error message appear in my logs. If it is truly ok then the bug should be marked as closed.
Bug 55740 is about wine complaining that it can't find the directory that is specified to be used as the CD ROM.
Bug 55616 is about shortcut keys using meta chars being printed in the chat window.

Now 2 of these bugs do not even require a change to the game code and one I'd argue about the bug hunters assessment but even so it should be closed if that is the final decision.

This happens only in certain browsers and only an issue with the ItemDB. The item DB is being worked on and soon we'll have a better system, until then this issue is a "known issue" that you have to live with. This has nothing to do with the Mac client itself.

This is not a bug. This is by design and that is what the bug hunter told you when he trashed this bug report. It is marked as "Trashed". This is also not specific to the mac client.

This is also a non issue since it is actually not causing any problems at all other than giving you a few lines in your logs. While it can be resolved, there are other things that have higher priority.

This is a known issue and it is being worked on: http://myeve.eve-online.com/updates/knownissues.asp

So out of 8 reported issues:
2 have been resolved - If they have been resolved they should be closed. Please give me some IDs and I'll look them up.
2 are something we are unable to resolve on our end (driver issue) - they are still bugs therefore they are open.
1 is an issue that will be resolved with the new revamped system coming soon. - Closed as "Known issue"
2 are non issues not really affecting anything. - They are still bugs, but very low priority and therefore remain open.
1 is an issue that has not been resolved yet because of other things having higher priority. - Defect still open

Bottom line, the bugs you report and we confirm are not forgotten. We are working on them. However sometimes other issues have to take higher priority.

Please keep bug reporting, it really does make a difference.

before i file a bug report...

can someone confirm that 1.1 broke the "copy URL" right click feature on links posted in chats?

since tuesday night i need to use the plain "copy" option and then manually delete the char name bit.

or is it broken on windows as well and already known?

This is a known issue for all clients and is not a mac specific bug.

Just installed it yesterday on my macbook Air, it corrupted the whole install. Nice. Reinstall. After downloading the client it worked, but still...tsk tsk.
