Skill Point/Game Time Refund on Major Game Mechanics Changes?

Players of EVE-Online invest large amounts of time and money designing characters. Players design these characters based on the "rules" of the game, or game mechanics. As skill points and game time are currently non-refundable, significant changes in game mechanics cause players to waste skill points and money.

Should CCP be responsible for refunding players game time or skill points after making serious changes in game mechanics?

If EVE-Online currently has 200,000 subscribers, they are pulling in 3 million dollars a month, or 36 million dollars a year net. Who should pay for CCP to work out the kinks in the game? The player or the company? As game time refunds are highly unlikely, would it hurt the game or the company to refund skill points?

(Just some thoughts. And NO I don't fly a Vagabond.)

It's funny, but I'd probably pay a few dollars to reallocate my skillpoints. :)

Although I fly minmatar t2 frig/cruiser class ships almost exclusively, beyond the 250SP in Mining 1 I wouldn't know what to reallocate.

The nerfbat swings and everybody gets hit once in a while. Just about everyone should know that I think. So no, no "refund allocations" please. The SP allocation/distribution is part of a char's character and shouldn't be messed with (except for mining 1 which has to go Very Happy), no matter how "useful" the player thinks of these SP at a specific time.

If you really need to switch to the next FOTM asap your identification with your char isn't very high anyway, so just sell it and buy a new FOTM char.

This word "net", I do not think it means what you think it means.

CCP has this thing called expenses; those are subtracted from gross revenues to find net profits.

Anyhoo...the last thing this game needs is people cashing out their toons every time there is an adjustment in game mechanics. And I fly Vagabonds and nano-Ishtars and I hate this nerf but no one needs SP refunds or god forbid reallocations so that everyone instantly becomes the new flavor of the month.

Just want to put my two cents in.

NO.

This question comes under the same argument as the following.

-I trained up mining V and I want to go into pvp now, let me re-alocate.
-I am an old character, can't I have all the better attributes of new players?

Nerfs happen all the time, some people get hit, others benefit. Over all I really don't think it would be fair.

Im not trying to offend anyone, I just have a very strong opinion on this matter.

No worries. I just want to put a few more SP in learning from some useless skills I trained early on. Also, I'd take every SP that I had and stuff into learning for every new character I started... would make things so much easier.

No.

The only reason people would want to reallocate their SP is if they either have Eve ADHD or constantly try to fly FOTM setups.

If people actually liked what they flew for reasons other than it being the latest pwnmobile, they would have no reason to reallocate.

You trained for fotm, and you got nerfed. stop crying.

Those of us who are smarter, train for pretty much everything so when nerf bat swings, we just fly other ships or fit our ships a different way and keep killing you.

rValdez5987

Kills: 359

Why are your total kills less than a lot of pvpers monthly kills if your such a knowledgeable, smarter, broadly trained, multi tasking and expert pvper?.

And omgShocked:

rValdez5987

Losses: 100

3.5 to 1 k/d lol leeeroying is not a skill buddy.Laughing

I would guess because he actually takes on a challenge and not only the certain kills. Kill/loss ratio are just a dumb statistic with not perspective on how said losses/kills were obtained.

And no, you won't find me on any killboards.

If you train the FOTM you gotta keep in mind that it possibly gets nerfed sometime soon. That's not exactly rocket science.

So if you don't want to skill stuff that eventually gets nerfed to uselessness in your perception you just should refrain from starting to skill it in the first place.

This whine sounds like Britney Spears complaining about all the publicity...

Battle clinic gets its figures from most of eves KB's so if you have lost or killed ships and they were posted you will have figures on it, although its not 100% accurate it does give a good idea if somebody is a active pvper or not.

And it also shows what ships were in the engagement to give you a good idea on what happened ie: outnumbered or not, along with fittngs.

Id say they look like the MONTHLY stats (kills anyway) from somebody who does small scale pvp although the losses are way to high tbh.

Didn't read responses so don't know if it's been said. But:

No. This would just encourage players to follow flavor of the months. The game needs balance and variety, not FOTMs.

In my humble opinion, I think CCP for the most part does a great job in accomplishing both, variety and balance. The game isn't perfect. But that's exactly why these nerfs are sometimes needed.

Extreme fitting options are part of a bigger balance that is part of team fighting.

Say 10 ships all pimped out to the max and working together is the very definition of variety and balance.

Screwing over extreme fits in attempts to "balance" those ships on a "individual" level is absurd and will make many ships obsolete as this speed nerf is doing.

I think its finei f racial skills are the only ones allowed to be allocated.

I'd pay $15 - $20 to switch away from matari. Means I can start having fun now as opposed to 3 months from now when the skills are done.

Confused I got suckered by a FW militia trap in my Hurricane and made out better than that guy's average K/D ratio. If they hadn't had 25 light ECM drones on me I'd have gotten a couple more of the bastards too. YARRRR!!

FOTM "M" for Month would that be?....you are referring to speed aint ya, like the thing that has been around since the game virtually started and now we have FW the nubs doing it wanna win in their drakes so its getting nerfed into the ground?.

You got to fly the ships. You had fun. You get to keep the experience. Now the film is over and you want money back?

I really dislike devs *creating* FOTM in any game as it is cheap attraction for kiddies and powergamer herd. But the blame in this particular case goes to both sides.

No and no. You pay for the game as-is, not for how it might turn out in the future. There should be zero refunds of subscription fees, SP's or ISK for game changes.
