Mmm.

4 hours. Assembling the Behemoth Mk II, my new gaming rig...

Plug it into all the cords and connections from the Behemoth Mk I, the computer I'm typing to you from now. Surge protector switch. PSU Switch. Power button and...

SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Oiy. Tomorrow I get to go through the fun of hand removing all the different pieces to see which one is causing the problem...

Anybody else have a good one?

Yeah I rebuilt my rig a few times and I always remembered to plug in all the cables...

Except for once I forgot to plug my 8800 to the PSU and it made the most horrible sound EVER... I thought it was broken after but it works fine. Smile

The worst sound you can ever hear that you really don't want to, is a woman saying "We need to talk".

Gentlemen! The worst thing to hear is when your between the ages of 40 to 50, male and you hear these words from your doctor: "Bend over".

I can beat the OP's sound, in a similar situation.

Was building a pc with my uni housemates, 1 had done it before, the other 2 of us were first timers. Got it all together, set up the cables, did a little drum roll and pushed the power button and... NOTHING. My exact words were:

"Well, that was spectacular".

We soon realised we'd forgotten the power switch on the back of the PC, switched it on, back to the front switch, and...

BANG.

Huge noise and a bright blue flash, and the power cuts out, this was late at night iirc so it all went dark.

Once we started breathing again and I went to reset the trip switch, we eventually found a voltage selection switch on the back, it was set to US voltage, and we were in the UK Sad

We managed to get it replaced, it did take a while but thankfully nothing else was damaged. Scared the life out of us though!

"Nuclear Launch Detected"

That's a very popular sound among people who build their own computers.

Please plug in your graphic card. ugh

Hard to decide, but I have to go with the body making a loud sickening sound before intense pain, like rectal muscle tearing, disjointed jaw or a severe bone fracture.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

Opened up the new computer. Plugged in the VGA (didn't before because I couldn't find the freakin' plug on it, so I didn't).

Everything went fine. Vista took a while to install but it did.

Go to update windows and install drivers...restart computer..vista doesn't boot. Boot it in safe mode and it works. So I go to reinstall vista because I have nothing better to do, and it freezes and goes into a restart loop on install.

So I grab my XP disk, throw it in, wipe the drive. XP installs perfectly and restarts to boot into it...and...

Disk Read Error. Control - alt - delete to restart computer.

EVERY time.

Obvious question: is your HDD a SATA one and, if so, did you press f6 & install the drivers for your HDD controller in the blue screen stage of the XP installer?

as for the Vista issue: if you have more than 2 gigs of ram then remove all but 1 or 2 gigs, install and update then plug the rest back in.

Oiy.

Booted the computer from the CD-ROM and installed XP.

Works fine unless I install the 8800 drivers.

Now I just need to get it connected to the web and all the drivers working...something I never learned how to do. TO GOOGLE!

The fire alarm in your house going off at 4am is a lot worse tbh. Being woken to that, and all it was was a false alarm, shat me up somewhat.
