I remember OSpreys not too long ago were very cheap -now they are expensive as hell. Though - all ship prices are expensive right now - big time, especially Caldari ships.

Probably because of that: Factional Warfare, and the Caldari's tendency to blob trash fodder.

Agreed, that one pretty much wins.

Random point though, tier 1 cruisers do seem to have around the same cost as the tier 2 support model (blackbird/arbie/celestis/belli), which is odd and a bit lame. Probably too late to change it though.

Simply buy Ospreys in bulk for 2,5 Mil, refine them to get the cheap minerals, rebuild them using a better researched print, sell them for 2,1 Mil to have an attractive market price and a little profit and build your own Osprey for 2,0 Mil from the difference. Problem solved!

I demand you post saying how the cost of an osprey is not set by players but by CCP insurnace values and min caps or something

For such a low-ticket item that has suffered from a recent massive shift in demand, prices ARE STILL player-set, being far above the "insurance scam" level, especially locally.
Give it enough time for the local production lines to ramp up in response to that demand (more older researched Osprey blueprints getting dusted for manufacture or copying, more newly purchased Osprey blueprints getting a few levels of ME research, etc), and the price no longer will be player-set but rather a small percentage over "insurance fraud" level.

At that point, yes, the CCP-set barriers kick in and players no longer have any real say-so in terms of prices due to oversaturation on one side and price caps on the other.

Right now, prices could easily go up almost 3 mil if things get really heated in a really short time.
In the near future, they should go down to around 2.5 mil per unit, and in the longer run they should float around 2.2 mil or so.
A price as low as 2.1 mil would already barely make any sense at all, and people selling them under 2.04 mil are total morons since they would most probably get more money via "insurance scams".
