Alt post for fear of flame: But to be honest, I need advice from the community.

I'm having trouble finding time playing. I've gone through this phase before and have bounced back but this time I'm not sure what the issue is. I chose to post with my alt because if I do chose to make change I think it would be responsible to let my corp and alliance know first.

Sincere question to all of you: Have you found yourself in this position? What have you done. Or am I whining? I'm looking for advice here, with fear of stuff comments and flame, but I honestly think the community will give me some good ideas into keeping my love for EvE alive.

Should one find a new corp/alliance or should one just set a long skill with the hopes of coming back to the game after some time off? Do you ever think you have reached the point where you have so much invested in the game that it's hard to quit when you don't enjoy it.

Maybe I'm getting older. I've found myself planting flowers instead of playing EvE. The other day I could have played all day but I cleaned out my garage instead!!!

Is this a sign it's not that important to me? What should I do. I love EvE. I have a very specialized toon, some decent skill points. Just missing the desire to logg on!

What can I do fellas? Give my stuff away or just take a break?

Thanks in advance.

Take a break. I played other games, offline as well as online, while I was bored of EVE, but kept my accounts running to get the best of skilltraining...

This is what I do:

I renew my account every other month, and I train 30 day skills, basically one month I pay, and I train all the skills I can fit into 30 days. Then, on the last day I activate a 30 day (or so skill), and let the account expire. Then, a month later, if I feel like it - reactivate and start over.

But, do not feel bad. EVE requires a break, almost any long term player has taken numerous breaks during their tenure as a pod pilot.

Take a month, take two, and go enjoy other things. Come back when you ready. And, whatever you do, do not sell you character, because, take my word for it, you will regret it when you will want to come back. Having noob with ISK is fun, but not as much fun as having a vet with little less ISK.

Good Luck to you.

Age of Conan looks good if you plan to take a short break while skill trains.

Thanks guys.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one whom can feel like this at times. It's just hard knowing all the time you put into something and you're kindof at a loss when you look at the whole picture and realize you can't see it all.

A long skill might be what it takes to get my engines turning again.

Thanks for the kind words!

Know the feeling, I’m on my second semi-break from Eve atm, I still logon every few days, maybe carebear it up with some friends in empire or just chat and see what’s going on with the alliance…

Its quite normal really, no-matter what you do in Eve your going to need a break at some point, for me it was the isk-grind and those bloody pos’s that are always crying for fuel, but whatever you do you’ll get tired of it eventually.

My advice? Take a break for a solid week or more, just set a nice long skill that you’ve been putting off and go do other things, play other games, whatever.
When you return, try doing something you’ve never done before, or hang with some friends you know but don’t usually cooperate with, myself; I’m running missions for the first time in about 6 months in gangs with another corp (ppl I know irl) helps with my isk burn, gets me doing something different, and keeps me away from those damn towers Razz

I am to a degree on a break right now myself. I am online, but I'm only really logged in - I'm off screen pretty much all the time. The only thing I remotely having been doing EVE-wise is forum stuff as of late.

As many others said - just go with the flow, don't force yourself (especially over a game). If you force yourself you'll end up literally burning yourself out on the game, and you'll take a even longer break - maybe even take a years leave, that's happened to me before.

Funny enough, but I've spoken to so many people that have been complaining about this.

I think this is because EVE sometimes feels like such an endless game and if you've been playing for a couple of years, it's just natural that you will start getting tired of it.

I go through this as well every now and again; usually I'll start hammering at games where your only goal is to see how many bullets you can pump into someone before they hit the ground... After about a week of carnage and being up to date with most new games, I seem to be back to full steam in EVE.

Same - everyones like this. It's like this in any long game tbh - but moreso in EVE because it's never-ending and hard to get bored of, and for it to stay boring to the point where you move on - at least for most players who have played for a long time.

Been playing for 2 years off and on now and I have not gotten bored yet, only burnt out.

Its easy to burn out with any online game. Eve more so with its complexity and nature. I cant speak fully on EVE having not been here long but when I find myself trying to find something else to do than the game I usually play I take a look at the situation, and see about what I can do to take a break game wise.

Like the others said. Find something else to do for a while. You'll feel better for it and wont completely end up resenting the game :).
