So according to MaxPc.com, SP3 launches today. Has anyone downloaded it yet? Anything worth noting? And glaring F up's?

Used the RC2 of SP3 for 4 months now on one computer, it still works, haven't updated it since then so I guess if M$ didn't add bugs it's bug free.

I'm avoiding updating for a month or so, to wait for the "OMG major security problems/wipes your harddrive/sends your bank details to Microsoft's Russian office" problems to surface and be dealt with. It happens every single time anything important is launched. You've got to be daft to use software on release day, unless you absolutely have to.

Unless it's an EVE patch, in which case it must be run before server starts, right ? Twisted Evil

I use it before the release date, that's how I like it, I don't care if it's alpha software, SIGN ME UP!

They have delayed releasing it to the web because of "a compatibility issue between Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System (RMS)". Note this affects Vista SP1 also.

There are multi language links to Service Pack 3 here if you want to download it via Windows Update. Note there is a known issue at the bottom of that article about a BSoD loop caused by GDI32.dll. Recent post on the issue, related to an older bug that has creeped through?

Keep your eye on the Microsoft TechNet forums for possible problems.

dunno about SP3 for Xp, but i dled SP1 for vista on my laptop, installed and it screwed my laptop royaly! I had a wierd message after it rebooted a couple of times when installing SP1, which was !!0xc0190036!! 5253/116565 ( NETSSTPA.INF_LOC). Anyway I lost everything on my laptop, luckly i backed my most important files on my external HDD. But it was still a massive pain in the ass having to reinstall vista on my laptop after an offical patch from windows that balls'd it up.

thanks bill gates you massive prick...
