I'd like to thanks the CSM Candidates for the positive feedback regarding attendance to the CSM Halls inside the Auctoramemtum Gladiatorium event.

To be able to answer your questions ( as many of you are asking me privately ) I have set a separated thread with some of your common questions.

It will be find under the events section of this forum, here

Looking forward to see you there, and in advance, good luck!

So the news is just in - 97 Candidates applied, 64 accepted, 33 couldn't follow the instructions on how to apply.

With so many candidates, it's going to be very interesting. If it was a dice roll, the candidates will have the following chances;
- 1.5% chance of chairman's position
- 14% chance of getting 1 of the 9 positions
- 24% chance of getting either a active or reserve (1 of 15) positions

Good luck to all my fellow candidates in adjusting their odds Very Happy

Just got the confirmation email myself - good stuff and game on. Seems like its going to be a far more hotly contested campaign than some of the doubters were thinking. 64 candidates should represent a broad cross section of player interest and experience and give the Eve electorate some real choices to be made in the month ahead.

Congratulations also to CCP Xhagen, seems your experiment in MMORPG democracy is going to be quite the interesting one in the next few weeks.

All the best.

Well, I have seen today on the boards, that CCP has sent out emails to the applicants, informing them if they were accepted or not. I immediately checked my email account, but did not find anything. So I looked into the spam folder, where I in fact found two emails from a CSM admin, the latter informing me that my application was rejected, because I didn't answer the question of the first mail, which I haven't seen.

So, I will not be able to be elected. Let some other guy try to make EVE a better place.

Winterblink and Serenity, you can remove me from your lists.

Up until now, I've not yet introduced myself yet as a candidate. I was waiting for the confirmation mail before adding my information. (No sense in wasting everyone's time if I wasn't actually on the official candidate list.)

I play Dawnstar, and have done so since about the first week or so of Eve's existence. I've played in a number of different roles, from manufacturing and trade, to mission running, to PVP, to CEO. I've gone it alone as a solo player, worked as a member of small corporations, played as a director in big corporations. I've got a well-rounded background in Eve.

As far as issues, I have a number that I would like to bring up, but to me the biggest one is probably low security space (0.1-0.4). I think that the balance isn't quite right for those regions as things stand currently. Currently, they are, in most respects, more dangerous than 0.0. And that isn't really quite right. I think it is a big part of why there are so many players that are concentrated in high security space.

If I had to pick a slogan, I think I would go with:

"Working to improve the intricate balance of risk and reward that makes Eve so compelling."

What do I mean by that? I'll give an example:

One of my biggest concerns about the risk vs reward balance is probably low security space (0.1-0.4). I think that the balance isn't quite right for those area as the situation stands currently. At present, they are, in many respects, more risky than 0.0. And with lesser rewards as well. And that isn't really quite right. I think it is also a big part of why there are so many players that are concentrated in high security space. I'd like to see some of the mechanics changed to make low-security space more attractive.

I don't claim to have all of the solutions to problems like this. But one thing I do claim is that there are few playing Eve who are more concerned about the long-term quality and health of the game.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope that you will consider casting a vote for me at election time.

Could a dev explain what type of voting system will be used for electing CSM representatives? Please say you're doing something intelligent, like a ranking system. With this many candidates it would be rather dumb to only let us vote for one person.

nope, just single votes - I've already mentioned why this is wrong in the official CSM thread

Like what I heard so far. When will you be added tot the eve-csm website?? I would like to hear more of what you have to say.

I agree about 0.1 to 0.4 space. I think "safe space" should be 1.0 to 0.4. that way Empire can spread out and the pirates can have more fun shooting each other in a more combin space.ugh
Also I would like to know about what you runners think of third party apps like BACON. I think local should stay but not a program that tells you someone entered. If you are too stuipd to watch who enters then...

Okay that's huge failure. Something like borda count is very simple to implement and yields vastly more accurate results than only 1 vote for your favorite candidate.

What is the official CSM thread? I was under the impression this is the official CSM thread as it's stickied, has CSM in the title and a red bar next to it.

I brought this up in another thread on a topic of CSM accountability and I just saw a DEV post linking people to this thread for the topic. My idea has some holes, but none that I do not think can not be fixed.

Link to the thread I mentioned

Idea:

Creat a audio file (I would prefer video myself, I am a fan of CSPAN) of the official meetings and post it on the forums so the CSM are accountable, for what ideas/topics/improvements yada yada yada, to the community.

Problems:

The CSM have to sign a NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement). Meaning that sensitive information that is not ready for community knowledge can and will be discussed.

Solution:

Provide the audio file after a time where editing can be done to remove sensitive information.
