I was just going to duripant station to update my clone when I discover 4 players from the same corp with 4 cans out side the rookie station. They were in a Destroyer, 2 Cruisers and a Battle cruiser...

The offenders names: -
Steelirat
Kolumbiec
Staini
Planakur

They openly admitted to me in local that they wont engage me because I killed them before, but the noobs are easy picking. I'm sorry guys, but I feel a moral obligation to post this as this is what is one of the things wrong with the game. Openly rookie baiting.

I count Velator 10 wrecks and rising...anyone else fancy a go at stoping them....come in a T1 cruiser and see what happens...

I have petitioned before got fobbed off with the we will investigate ...bu that time they moved on...plus petitioning is runing to GMs...and well bann would be unkind lol...why cant we vigilante it...

[21:26:39] SteeliRAT > I understand that we break rules and we kill beginners. BUT they lose nothing, money we help them, and if will want that can and enter to us corporation.

After I made a deal in local, some people followed suite: -

[21:28:45] Sylva Cathan > As a newbie myself, being killed by one of your companion i never will enter your corp steelirat. Your logic seems flawfull

They now are embarressed and have left system...no GMs envolved just hard vigilante work...

My question is why cant other game mechanics be like this...people enmass working together to defuse a potentially futile situation, without banns or GMs...

From my understanding baiting noobs in a new player zone can result in a BAN.

Well I destroyed all the cargo containers they left, but the evidence is still ther ein teh forum of 10plus rookie ship wrecks...

War dec take too long, by then the offenders have moved on...

Oh right, constructive post. Forgot.

Another thing you can do is dock up in a pvp ship, leave ship and fly your pod to another station which I think gets you a freebie rookie ship, then warp back and grab one of their cans. They pop you, you dock and jump in your original ship, undock and wtfpwn them since the aggression flag should still be on.

At least I think that should work... I need to go try it.

I see this on a daily basis and its usually the same faces, I don't like to waste the GMs time with unnecessary petitions though so if I can I try to deal with the people myself (and having modest success to)

Should I really petition the matter?

I usually do, but they usually move on once I draw attention to there actions resulting in the GM turnin gup to late. My corp usually patrol Duripant taking there cans making there life dificult. Today I had enough. I will say thanks for the GM that did turn up to witness the mass of rookie ship wrecks. Its not nice and ruins the game for rookies...

Yes, would be the direct answer. I usually remove the can myself, but dont do this unless you know you can tank the offender...

I wonder how harsh CCP want their game to be, is killing newbies good for the game (and its perception outside the EVE community) or not?

So, CCP needs to consider if letting some idiots getting cheap thrills killing defenceless nublets is serious, if its a banning offence, ban the muppets and let it be known that justice was done.

Good on ya Lord for shaming them. As I recall this is a ban able offense. Hopefully will all get kicked. Noob baiting is pretty low ... even for EVE's harsh moral standards. YARRRR!!

I wouldent worry about them running off before a GM arrives ... they can just look at the recent kill list for each person.

If Gm's see "Ibis" "Ibis" "Ibis" "Ibis" as the persons kill manifesto ... they will figure it out.

I remember seeing people doing this right after completing my tutorial, cans floating in space with names like 'free loot' looked like obvious scams to me, i didn't touch them (and if i did, i would have got the warning come up) Do people actually not realize what's going on?

If you saw a bunch of velator wrecks, maybe people were just trying to get at the free stuff without losing a ship, you get another free velator when you dock back up Smile

Yes but if you look at the cans they usually name them things like 'free stuff I dont need' or 'Free stuff, don't worry about taking' so the noobs go ahead and grab them not thinking twice.

Not everybody does their homework before joining a game.
