PLEASE READ THE REQUIREMENTS BEFORE POSTING!

I am an industrialist working on off-the-assembly-line (OTAL) configurations for T1 PvP cruisers and would like a to solicit some opinions regarding the Vexor. The objective is an inexpensive yet effective setup that can be quickly produced from T1 blueprints. I try my best to play to the bonuses of a particular ship, and fit it the way it was "intended" to be fit.

Requirements:
1: Can be manufactured entirely from T1 BPs!!!!!
2: Can be flown by a typical 5m SP Gallente pilot.
3: As effective as can be (For a Meta 0 ship)
4: Cap must hold out for a full 2 minutes of combat
5: Config must be feasible in terms of CPU and Grid

Current Config: THIS WILL CHANGE AS THE THREAD PROGRESSES

Highs:
1 x Small Nos
4 x Dual 150mm Railgun I

Mids:
1 x Stasis Webifier I
1 x 10mn MWD
1 x Warp Scrambler I

Lows:
1 x EANM
1 x SAR
1 x 16000mm Reinforced Steel Plate
1 x Damage Control I

The Vexor is by-far the hardest OTAL ship I have had to fit so far. We see that bonuses go to drones and med hybrids, but it lacks the CPU to do both effectively. I am really unhappy with my first attempt at a config. The trade offs seem to be the following.

1: It's almost impossible to put 200mm Rails in the tops with the Vexor's stock grid/CPU, so you end up going with Dual 150's in order to take advantage of the med-hybrid bonus. I really hate having to use dual 150s, or dual "anything" for that matter.

2: The stock targeting range is short, so if you use a Drone Link Aug, you need to add a SB to get greater than 65k.

So I am totally flustered on this one. This ship is a jack of all trades and master of none. I really need your help here gents. I also welcome your opinions regarding the stock drone load out. I was thinking of simply putting 5 hheads and 5 hgobs into the bay and letting the pilot make the decision. If there's something glaringly wrong with this, I'm all ears.

Once again, I am looking forward to hearing your opinions.

Excellent threads, interesting and thought provoking. This is my favourite boat, so I hope you like this setup. Weirdly the vexor works best using small guns with a big plate for lower skilled pilots: 4 x light neutron blasters, mwd, warp dis, web, 1600 plate, dc, eanm, magstab. 2 x ogres, 2 x hammers, 1 x hobgob and a spare set of lights. Bob won't agree but this setup is a scream!

The DLA gives you a fairly ridiculous drone control range. Something like 65km?

I'd probably skip that in favour of a NOS or a neut or a remote armor rep. Even with a "sniping" set-up in mind I imagine you've got enough drone range.

Also I wonder how much DPS your target pilot would lose by going small guns instead of medium. Depends on their medium hybrid skills and Gall cruiser skill I suppose but a beefier tank (1600?) and more useful mid slots (MWD, point) might make the downgrade worthwhile.

Is a MAR worth it over two minutes or the typical span of a cruiser fight? Mightn't a 1600 plate work better?

4x small rails, medium neut
10mn MWD, LCB, Warp Disruptor
3x OD, Nano

Err, yeah. Try swapping in D150's if you have enough PG for it (I think you do, but I'm at work and can't post for sure).

ed: can you please put a link to all of these posts in your sig so that i dont have to hunt them down

ed2: also, the dla would give me roughly 80km drone control range... dunno wtf you need that for.

DLA will give +20km. Base drone control range is 20km, with Scout Drone Interfacing to 5 to bring that up to 45 - the DLA will bring that up to 65km in a max skill environment.

Considering a 5M sp char, I wouldn't expect Scout Drone Operation to be more than III or IV, setting the range to 55 or 60km. The Vexor locks at 52.5km without gang bonuses or Long Range Targeting, so the extra few km is definitely likely to be used.

Mind you, anything other than small drones would take ages to get out to that range...

please look up electronic warfare drone interfacing, kthxbie =)

tbh, when t2 drones were the first t2 items i went for, and i had them well before 5m sp. that isnt to say that t2 drones are a necessity for this setup, but i would expect any reasonably competent gallente pilot to have t2 medium drones.

which is why i dont recommend the dla.

The DLA and DNC are luxuries for this type of setup. Do you actually fly the Vexor? Do you know Vexor pilots who told you they use these modules on it? DLC and DNC are mostly used by Sentry drone wranglers for sniping. Vexor is pretty bad at that, since it cannot field a full wing of Sentries.

Drop those modules, and I bet the CPU issues vanish. Vexor has no business engaging anything at 65km anyway.

The comments on the tank and the DLA's are greatly appreciated. Perhaps I am over thinking things. Adding a DLA breaks from my "cheap" requirement as well, So I'm going to drop it from the config.

I "really" wanna stay with medium hybrids, which limits me to electron blasters or dual 150 rails. The Vexor really doesn't strike me as a blaster boat, so an anti-frig/drone boat is what I am going to shoot for.

Thank you for the kind words. Fitting meta 0 ships has been one of the hardest exercises in Eve for me as an industrialist. It's neat when you don't have a lot to work with.

Will update the config in a bit.

Fair enough, total max skills is 80km due to ewar drone interfacing. I'll agree that the vexor shouldn't be sending drones out that far - but in defensive situations (mass produced this as it is, sounds reasonable this would be part of a fleet) having the drones assigned to defend a ship closer to the action might be a feasible tactic. However, hanging out 70km away from the action, Dual 150's would have absolutely no impact :P

Sentry won't use DNC as it's immobile.

vexor's damage is going to be 80-100% from drones probably.

go full tank, 1600mm plate, eanm, damage control 1x whatever (overdrive?). Repairer is NOT NECESSARY.

10mn mwd, web, 1x scram or other ewar mod.

3 150mm railguns or neutron blasters.
OR
fit small nos and neutralizers in the highs.

t1 cheap ships do best with a buffer tank. The damage is all from the drones. if the pilot can get within range to neutralize web then thats good. If he gets shot at the drones will do damage for as long as possible due to the high armor hp and structure resist.

Yeah, I was thinking of the Omnidirectional Tracking Unit (he said "unit").

So I have updated the config up top. I'm left with 1 free high, one free mid. Will try my best to think it out. Maybe a small remote armor rep on the top and a cap mod in the mids?

I have about 60 CPU and 100 grid free.

Thinking.

How about this?

4 x Heavy Electron Blaster I
1 x Small Nosferatu I

1 x 10mn Microwarpdrive I
1 x Warp Disruptor I
1 x Stasis Webifier I

1 x 800mm Reinforced Steel Plates I
1 x Magnetic Field Stabilizer I / EANM I
1 x Damage Control I
1 x Co-Processor I

Cheap, fits with awful skills, and has a bit of HP buffer, uses all the bonuses, and does fair damage. The cap holds as long as you like with the MWD off. With Electronics 5 you might be able to drop that Co-Proc for another magstab or EANM.

Remote Armor Reps take skills most newbie pilots don't train so I would probably leave it off. I would probably go with a NOS.

The removal of the DLA prompts the reasoning behind the SB I, so out it goes.

In it's place goes a webber and a scram. The top goes to a small Nos. The tank goes with thw 1600, SAR, EANM, and DC.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the result, with the exception of the NOS. It seems like the designers left the turret hardpoint off for the sole reason of forcing you to use a DLA. With the current config, the pilot is free to take off the nos and "possibly" shoe horn one in (assuming he has really good skills).

I am happy that we got away from the co-proc. I always feel that when a co-proc or RCU is used, you're not really flying a ship as it was intended to be flown.

Gonna leave the RFC open for a bit to see if there are any other suggestions, then close it and move on to the next ship.

Thanx Again,

We've been over this already, your idea doesn't suddenly stop sucking if you keep posting it a dozen more times. No amount of threads will make your T1 junk idea anything other than a waste of perfectly good time and ISK.

But, since you insist on a ship:

Reactor Control Unit I
Reactor Control Unit I
Reactor Control Unit I
Reactor Control Unit I
10MN MicroWarpdrive I
Medium Capacitor Booster I,Cap Booster 800
Warp Disruptor I
Medium Energy Neutralizer I
Medium Energy Neutralizer I
Medium Energy Neutralizer I
Medium Energy Neutralizer I
Medium Energy Neutralizer I

Drones: 5x medium neutralizer

You will die instantly no matter what "tank" you fit, because you are fitting T1 junk. Using fitting slots on armor plates/etc is a complete waste. You should concede the suicidal nature of the setup, and use it as a suicide neut setup. You will insta-die, but hopefully you will manage to take down the target's cap before you go.

I like this oneShocked:

High
4x 150mm Railgun II w/ whatever
1x Small/Med Neut

Medium
1x 10mn MWD
1x Medium Electrochem Cap Booster w/ 800's
1x Warp Scrambler

Low
1x Medium Armor Repairer II
2x EANM II
1x DCU II

Drones
...lots of drones

It can take quite some 800's, thats why its so awesomeRazz

I was entirely respectful of the OP in all of my posts - however, I do maintain that Merin was (if somewhat rudely) bringing up a completely viable and valid point:
