Wtf is up Trinity patch prem has killed my boot.ini and gone ahead and deleted it from my root file.. including many others ive talked to ingame.

Anyone else have this issue?

Possible Fix

Right Click My computer -> Properties -> advanced -> Startup and recovery -> Settings -> Click the Edit, Itll open a new boot.ini, Save this to c:/ as boot.ini and it should be good to go!!

This happened to me as well on two different computers. One of them I had to completly reinstall windows on >=/.

Indeed... I patched two systems and rebooted one because of lag. Unfortunately, it didn't come backup so I had to recover the boot.ini file from a backup. Checked the other system and it was missing there as well. After restoring the boot.ini and doing a search, the only other boot.ini file I could find was C:\Program Files\CCP\Eve\boot.ini.

I read that vista doesn't use boot.ini anymore... Has anyone had issues with Vista not booting?

edit: wild...boot.ini is in the above stated folder ^^. I wonder if this is causing issues!

Yes, I applied the premium patch and now my windows boot.ini file is gone. The patch appears to delete it during the patching process instead of EVE's boot.ini.

First three lines of patch details:
Output folder: C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE
Delete file: \boot.ini
Extract: boot.ini... 100%

What's up with that!?

I just searched with Find, msconfig, and "attrib" under C:\ root. No boot.ini. I'm not kidding.

CCP hates windows I guess :tinfoil:

EDIT: oh and confirming this, on Windows XP home anyway.

I knew this patchday couldn't go off without a hitch!

And yes system restore fixes it, if you can even get to system restore.

for those that cannot boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330184

Boot from your OS cd. and follow the directions to start Recovery Console. Choose the corresponding number asked of you for your OS is on, normally its #1 Then type:

Attrib -H -R -S C:\Boot.ini
DEL C:\Boot.ini
BootCfg /Rebuild
Fixboot

or

Just did system restore myself which gave me boot.ini back, but of course hosed my EVE installation so now I get to re-download the whole thing.

Seriously CCP... how did something this serious get past QA?
